  1. Davis actually has some promising potential...yet we cut him. Not sure what a guy like Quinn has done to remain on the roster. Outside of being one of Gruden's favs apparently.
  2. Assuming KD doesn't come here, I'd look ino trading everyone not named Wall or Beal for Derrick Favors. Gortat+1sts+Oubre might get it done. Favors is only 24 and probably the most underrated player regardless of position in the NBA. Unfortunately he isn't a FA until 2018 which is why trading for him is the only plausible way, but you would also have to hope Utah finishes in purgatory again, and I think they'll eventually be contending for the 8th seed this season so that dream might be foolish. Al Horford is another option but I am skeptical of maxing him out although he'd also be a near perfect fit. He has less mileage on his legs since the pectoral tears sidelined him for like 2 seasons, but he has since fixed his lifting habits so I don't think his health is an issue anymore. Terrance Jones is worth throwing some money at, he is a starting quality 4, not great yet but still relatively young for a big. Outside of that I'd look for a stopgap 4 in '16 and hold off till the '17 FA class to be honest. The '16 FA class is kinda meh for our needs.
  3. He shot 34% last season from 3... He said the 3 ball is something he worked on it so I wouldn't be surprised if he is up to say... 37-38% on a bit more volume. He was a good shooter in college and puts in the work. Confidence can go a long way as well. Obviously he won't be a prolific three point shooter but I don't think he'll be a liability.
  4. He shot 35.1 % from distance in '13-'14... so it is very possible for him. What he needs to do is up his volume of 3s and drive... I actually think he may drive a little less this season cause of the hand injury he sustained, I hope that isn't the case but I wonder if it affects his psychology a bit in his aggression. He can further bolster his shot selection with more post moves. Not many PGs sans maybe Westbrook and Marcus Smart are more powerful then him...
  5. We kinda need to find the diamonds in the rough. A guy who I watched a bit after Karl came to SAC was Derrick Williams. Who for his draft position and salary, is absolutely a bust. However, his offensive shooting efficiency blossomed playing in Karl's system. He still cannot rebound worth a damn, which I wonder if is due to playing to Cousins who gets like every ****ing rebound. But I'd offer him a minimum contract, player option for 2nd year. Basically what I am banking on is the "John Wall effect" and Williams being privy to it. If he has a surprisingly good '15-'16 season playing next to Wall, when the cap rises in '16 he can make a good amount of long term security. He'd have to be willing to bet on himself. I don't know, if Drew Gooden can be salvaged for 20 mins a game, derrick williams should be able to as well. I will also give Randy the fact he's made some questionable defenders play better then usual so maybe he can help Williams there.
  6. beyond the 5th pick, players who hold more value and production today then Miller+Foye: Teague, Holiday, Lawson, Collison, Cassipi, Gibson, Carroll, Jerebko, and Demar (although i'm not a fan of him). And also...Curry. So there were good rotation players available, just no foresight to realize it.
  7. even if he didn't want curry there were good players to be had in that draft class. All of whom, had more value then Foye and Miller, who weren't exactly pillars of our foundation here.
  8. You don't get credit for picking consensus players. Wall and beal were the basically the consensus picks at that time. He gave up a massive expiring AND a 1st rounder for Gortat. On top of that outbid himself with the contract length. If Porter turns out to be a better player then Noel he'll get credit there, but I have my doubts as a Porter fan. He signed Eric Maynor, one of the worst NBA signings I have ever seen. Maynor couldn't even cut it in PHIL. His '11 draft class was abominable. He also didn't bring Sato over since he wanted Maynor. Had to give up assets in order to get Miller, which eventually became sessions. And now sato by every objective analysis is turning out to be a good player and we can't bring him over until the cap balloons, thus depreciating his value. Yay our nimrod GM. Dude completely disvalues 2nd rounders, which is a big no-no in the modern NBA. The smart NBA FO know how to use em. Look at the Spurs, HOU, OKC, and ATL. And if not 2nd rounders, he is a terrible drafter outside of the lottery. Hell even outside of the top 3. Basically choice has to be so retardly simple for him to make it in order for him not to screw it up. Singleton. Bust. Mack. Not here. Booker. Not here. Seraphin Bust (he is a bad player and there is no objective way to qualify him as a good player unless you enjoy being ignorant to reality). Opec. Bust. McGee. Bust. Young. Moron. Blatche. Retard. He doesn't know how to draft, overpays FAs, and gets the short end on almost every trade (traded an expiring for traditionally flawed and overpaid players in Okafor and Ariza and couldn't even squeeze another pick in return). But yah, 2nd round wooooo. Truth is we are still a treadmill team. We have some young pieces that will keep us quasi relevant until '16 but if we don't land Durant, do people really trust EG as a manager of assets to get us that next star player? Been a mediocre franchise so long people are content with being a treadmill team. Bleh. Dude is a fool. A sports stain on DC. And we won't go anywhere as a franchise until we purge him from our city. So yah, **** Ernie Grunfeld.
  9. Lyles shot 14% from the 3 pt line last season....he's a guy I'd look to avoid to be honest. Especially if Portis and Looney are still on the board. We actually need a S4 prospect with proven 3 pt range. I don't see him drastically improving his 3 pt range, at least I see no evidence saying he may. As for Sato, I thought he wanted to come over the season we signed Maynor, but he didn't cause we didn't want to give him a guaranteed roster spot....Sure gotta love that Maynor signing. Worst player I've ever seen in a wiz uniform.
  10. He plays for FC Barcelona I believe and has pretty decent international competition. I believe he was their primary backup guard and got about 20 mins a game. He had a PER of 20 and really high TS of 66%. His raw production was 8-3-3-1. What is a good sign is he's made incremental improvements in 3pt shooting for the past 3 seasons and on a minutes basis still playing good ball with higher efficiency compared to last season, even though he is, I THINK, in a backup role now...could be wrong about that, but not sure why he plays only 19.9 minutes. I have no clue about his defense, but he is athletic and hustles, if nothing else I believe he could become an adequate defender. If small PGs bother him we can probably have him switch out to the 2 if need be. The only thing is I don't know if we can buyout his contract anytime soon. My guess is the soonest we can get him is in the '16-'17 season, although I'd prefer sooner because if we could lock him into an MLE contract before the cap spike it'd probably be a bargain. This is where I found his international stats: http://basketball.realgm.com/player/Tomas-Satoransky/Summary/24374
  11. I'm extremely happy with the results, definitely don't mind eating crow on the fact I thought we'd lose in 6. The 4th quarter bench scared the **** outta me. The short rotation however is working well, which is kind of an indictment on our lack of depth, cause Randy really is an intelligible coach and his issue is he didn't have the talent he wanted then Randy did him a disservice. I still think Randy is a mediocre to bad coach (because of RS returns) but he's been gifted two pretty situations. Casey is a moron of horrific magnitude. I feel bad for Raps fans cause they don't have cornerstone young players like we do to fall back on. Randy's defense has been masterful for 6 quarters. Still don't get why Hump has been buried, his energy and defense would help the 2nd unit, but hey w/e works for now (ATL is a different league then TOR). Draft a stretch 4 and sign a combo guard and we may have the depth we need to be a 50 win team next season.
  12. Man am I glad I was wrong about James Johnson. Beal and Wall and playing masterful games, as are Gortat and Nene.
  13. Desperation probably. That and believe some regression to their RS offensive efficiency. Although, so long as we trap, and run em off the 3 pt line we ought to be fine. Just gotta bait Demar into taking lots of stupid mid range shots. I think Lowry comes up big today too. Hopefully Wall counters, should be attacking Val every time he can.
  14. "stop" may be too absolute a word, but he'd definitely limit him. He was a monster perimeter defender in memphis last season and probably the best defender TOR has. What he would take away is the Pierce bail out 3 as the shot clock expires. He's an excellent athlete and get good contests on shooters and outright blocks people too. Pierce might be able to coax him into some cheap fouls but we'd need a lot more from Beal and Wall if Johnson played. I don't know how he does on off the ball action, at least not this season. Offensively, he's efficient from everywhere not the perimeter, which is alright since we clog the paint pretty well.
  15. Well, for game 2: -More Piece at the 4 -Actually play hump to clean the defensive glass and (hopefully) contain Amir Johnson -Wall must attack when the floor is spaced, lots of settling in game 1 -Beal needs to hit open 3s, I can live with mid range bricks, thats expected...not open 3s -Gortat must roll harder to the rim and not be so quick to pass it off for Gooden long 2s. -Porter needs to take more shots, try to beat Lou/Demar on back door cuts. As well as Lowry, they aren't good defenders, punish them with their inattentiveness. -More of the same with Nene reguarding rebounding. Play him mostly as a bench 5 to stabilize the 2nd unit's defense. -Sessions...honestly everything he did I thought was fine. The raptors will shoot better, so...I do expect it to be high scoring. We can possibly win if we force Demar into 20+ shots cause that guy is a brick house. Patrick Patterson will continue to burn us probably. Amir Johnsons probably wont drop 18 again, but I expect Val will come to play. Not sure what to make of T. Ross. He played good D on Wall and Beal but I think it burns him on the offensive end utilizing all that energy. I think we lose if James Johnson is actually used to stop Pierce, I'm just hoping Casey isn't smart enough to realize that :/
  16. No one is denying he is good at hook shots. What you fail to see, is how below average is he elsewhere. That is represented by FACTS not opinions. He wouldn't have such inefficient productivity and net rating as a bad player if he was even average. You don't seem to acknowledge that reality like you can't read a stats page or something, possibly ignoring reality. W/e floats your boat I guess. Some of us aren't homers when it comes to inadequacies of our players. He, like the rest of the team looked good for the first 30 or so games, then crashed back down to earth when we started playing decent games. I realize stats aren't the only way to judge a player, but they are they only objective way to get a read. And when you watch Seraphin as much as any other wizards fan, you realize there is no context needed, he is just a bad player that brings down his team. Perhaps you could argue the 2nd unit doesn't befit him, and he needs to play with a stretch 4 as well...but he's going against other teams backups, if he was worth a damn, the 2nd unit argument shouldn't matter. I really wanted him to improve, but he hasn't. That is the reality. Now if he pulls a Jerome James and plays well in the playoffs (productivity wise he did put up some numbers in game 1, but I think we were -6 while he was on the floor), I don't mind him earning his contract year dollars elsewhere. Just not here, cause I don't see it translating into long term production, plus no reason what so ever in putting long term money in a backup center when we have gortat. Now if Seraphin magically developed 3 pt range (which I think he can actually cause he's a decent shooter from 16ft-3pt line) he might have value as a stretch big. But we know Randy won't ever encourage offensive creativity.
  17. It was a crude thing to bring up, but the only alternative to Seraphin leaving is someone offering him 8mil plus, which I can't imagine a smart GM doing. As to your evaluation of him, I think you don't have a clue about what you're talking about. He's on an NBA roster because an incompetent coach plays him and an incompetent GM hasn't tried to get rid of him yet. Just because it is a hard shot to master doesn't mean ****. He completely folds under pressure, can't pass consistently out of double teams, and when he does the shot clock is already ticking down to oblivion and he still travels way too often. Dude hasn't met a shot he ever not liked. A "good" source of offense doesn't drag the rest of the team down. He is Andray Blatche sans the hookers but with less defensive liability relative too good ole blatche. Booker did't get a huge contract, he got a reasonable one at 5 mil a year. He also has a better WS/48 then Seraphin, better PER, and better oRTG/dRTG diff then Seraphin. Probably a better VORP too, haven't checked that one. Seraphin is a better shooter as indicative of his TS, but that doesn't really matter much when you take into account the rest of his game is well below average. Not to mention Booker has 3 pt range now too and isn't a liability on the boards. Booker has his own faults, but they are not nearly as vulgar as Seraphins. This is just a case of us Wiz fans wanting us to finally develop a young big with "potential" except this big isn't 20/21. Seraphin is 25. He's not going to make any leaps anymore, at least most bigs in the modern NBA don't make massive leaps in productivity after they've spent this much time in it and have plateaued off in productivity. He isn't a finished product per se, I expect incremental improvements, but not ones that justify us settling on him as our "young" big of the future. The reality is he is a bad player. No matter how many crappy subjective observations you make regarding him doesn't absolve him of his own inabilities.
  18. Also, Colin Cowherd has raised his ugly head again regarding Wall. That guy loves him some him. How is he still allowed a platform to speak?
  19. Just cause he has a pretty hookshot doesn't mean he is a good NBA player. I fell in love with those aesthetics 3 seasons ago as well. He hasn't improved significantly enough to make him an average NBA player. There is no evidence backing him up as a good NBA player, let alone average...so I'm not sure why anyone is still defending him... Making a ****ty hookshot does not absolve him from being turnover prone, from not drawing fouls, from fouling too much, from not rebounding and an inability to guard quicker players. He's a dumb player who has some pretty moves. That is the reality. Maybe he'd get better with a better developmental staff and coaching, but so long as EG brainwashes Ted no reason to bank on that either. For Seraphin's sake I hope he has a good playoff so some other dumb FO overpays him.
  20. I didn't say I'd want it to occur, its the only factor I can think of that would keep us from retaining him. Cause I don't think there are many other dumb enough GMs that want to sign him on a high price (hoping otherwise tho!) Seraphin averaged 15-8-1.7blocks per 36 on a TS of .535 and a per of 12.5, and lastly a WS/48 of 0.066. Ed Davis averaged 13-12-1.9 blocks per 36 on a TS of .594 and a per of 20.0. WS/48 of .164. Ed davis also did all of that on a larger sample size as well, and is only a couple months older then Seraphin. And Davis played on the friggin Lakers. So yah, anyone who'd actually prefer Seraphin doesn't know good basketball. I pray some stupid GM will take him away from us. He's an awful piece of crap that hasn't made any meaningful progress that translates into winning basketball. However we get rid of him, I don't care, just get rid of him.
  21. #TeamEdDavis Hell I'd rather have Birch on the minimum next season then Seraphin. Unless Seraphin develops 3 pt range, he isn't going to be a net positive player. He isn't a good enough defender and a liability on the boards. More importantly we need a young stretch big moving forward. Either Portis or Looney in the draft would suffice. But we can't have Randy coach em, he'll just tell em to take long 2s.
  22. Seraphin is a bad player. Putting long term money in him is one of the dumbest things I've ever read. Dude doesn't deserve more then then 3 mil given how much of a black hole he still is. His inability to rebound is also detestable as a center. He is 25, isn't like he is raw anymore, he probably isn't going to get much better. People don't just become better rebounders. You got to want that. He doesn't have "it." If you're gonna throw 5-8 mil around because the Durant dream may be dead, then sign Ed Davis. He's actually a good player. Something Seraphin hasn't shown any modicum of consistency. Extending him would be a typical EG move. Truthfully we avoid it if he blows out his knee from now and FA...which has me having a moral crisis....
  23. Ted can't claim "progress" this season unless we beat ATL. A 2nd round playoff victory should have been the mandate for those two to ensure their jobs. Not very likely we beat ATL in a 7 game series. They are machine when they want to be.
  24. Best case scenario is a good playoff run for Wall, Beal, Porter and Gortat (our good, youngish core) and miserable performances from the "depth" EG has assembled. That would also entail possibly winning a series and getting swept hard by the Hawks. I believe such a scenario ought to be enough for Ted to realize roster construction of this team is capped and Wittman is a baboon way out of his league. Realistically, I think TOR beat us in 5-6 given past history. They have an equally good PG, probably a better SG (for now) in Demar. Ross was atrocious in the playoffs last season but should be better now. Lou Williams is a notorious wiz killer. We also can't guard Patrick Patterson with anyone but probably Pierce or Hump. Amir Johnson finds ways to hurt us with his good 2 way play. Val....Gortat actually plays him well I think. But yah, the spacing TOR creates destroys us. They also defend us well, but that's also easy to do since it's like some creature with anencephaly drew up our offense and rotation patterns. Now I'd like to see them win, but I see no logical reason to believe, especially going off the match-ups, depth and hilariously enough, the coaching.
  25. Randy must go, but it will be for naught if EG is around. He can't build a team competently for the long term and has no eye for coaching. The sooner Ted realizes that, the sooner the franchise moves forward. I abhor Randy as a coach, but EG is even worse. The local media needs to rip EG for his decade of baboonery.
