  1. Prolly would have been gun downed in the back as they ran away. But yah, that was an intense video... Not sure why anyone would start a brawl with a bunch of cops around.
  2. ATL is an excellent offensive team for regular season play. When teams run out at them in the playoffs they will probably falter. Teague may be the 2nd or 3rd best pg in the wast right now. He is legit. Milsap is better then any big we have. Horford isn't playing to his standards, but if he does, it kind of shifts the paradigm. Think he is still wary of banging down low cause of his pec tears. They also have a better coach. They aren't very deep however, that could wear on em come playoff time. Beal needs to round into form and then we can make real distance from em, cause right now Korver is an absolute monster floor spacer.
  3. One of the reasons why the wizards have sucked as long as they have, and why fans have bemoaned the team, was because of the main issue afflicting the Redskins now, systemic failure from ownership down to management. I know I was happy some years the wiz particularly sucked, basically hoping for REAL change, unfortunately that real change only came seemingly when Ted Leonsis bought the team (although I'm not sure how much of EG's ability to put out this team is a function of Ted's vision). Right now I want the redskins to undergo the same dark period with Snyder, if it takes 10-15 years, so be it. We won't win anything with his current "vision" and he needs to suffer monetarily before he stops trying to sell us a short sighted product. The DMV has to turn their backs on the redskins in order for that change to occur. That or Snyder needs die, but he is fairly young so I doubt that happens anytime soon. The other option is Snyder sell the team, again, something I doubt occurring. I don't agree with blindly supporting a team (especially ones I root for) when they are contaminated with scum bag front offices.
  4. Things are pretty right now but that doesn't change the holistic picture with Ernie. I don't give much credit to Grunfeld because a lot of the players who are at our core, are the players he shoulda drafted. EG is mediocre in most trade situations, a + at finding vet min. rotational players and below average drafter. All in all EG is a mediocre GM, and I don't see much of that changing. Randy....eh....I still don't like his offensive philosophy of taking "open shots" regardless of the percentages, but he does preach two vital things to no end, ball movement and defense. What I don't like about the offense is the lack of movement off the ball, I don't know if the players prior to this win streak were just being lazy or they have changed some stuff. I think Randy is an average NBA coach, still is, but the one thing I'll give him, is that he does seem to improve in ways year to year. He stops bleeding better this season, which is something he was notorious for last season. It is RARE you see NBA coaches who have been around actually noticeable improve. To that end, I have to give Randy some props. I still think he is right now, an average NBA coach, but so long as he grows with Wall and Beal I can't be too upset. I would have, and still would take a lot of other coaches over him. But the ship is ok for now. Hilarious that the Wizards might have the best head coach-FO duo in DC.
  5. Larkin hasn't had much of a career thus far so any night can be a career night for him.
  6. Games can't come soon enough, mostly so it can distract me from the woe that is the redskins :/ I get the sentiment that starting out may be tough, but that is what pre season is kinda for. I think that facet is ameliorated by having lots of high IQ vets on the team. If we added young new guys, which may present more upside down the line, I'm not sure they'd assimilate as quickly. Hump, Pierce and even to some extent blair have been around the block. I also don't think our first 10 games or so are brutal schedule wise. Hopefully we don't dig ourselves into a 2-7 start again this season.
  7. Uhhhh, he's a very good volume 3 pt shooter but he isn't what I'd call mid range mcgoo. From 16ft to 3pt territory he shot .40 percent and from 10-16 feet he shot 35%. That is a mediocre mid range shooter (He'd fit right in with Wall and Beal! ).If you run him off the 3 pt line you're doing the right thing. Hid mid range game is no where close to being lethal. I want to say Taj beat us on the board mostly when Booker was out there. Taj has very good standing reach and athleticism, those go along way when your opposition has boxed you out. Love doesn't have either of those qualities to simply bully his way around. I'm aware he is strong, but I seriously doubt he's stronger then Nene, or even THAT much stronger then Hump. IF Love has an extra gear then this all changes. So yeah, I'd welcome Love to take mid range shots and operate out of the post.
  8. I'm usually an advanced stats driven guy, especially when trying to evaluate a player but I have questions on how love will translate in playoff basketball. The pick and pop game is nice for Love in the RS, but intensity is generally lower, and so is sticking to fundamentals (boxing out). Look at a team like CHI, or even us (wiz fans)...run Love off the 3 pt line during the playoffs and force him to beat u almost any other way. He isn't a particularly great mid range shooter (I think 42%) and as good as Bosh was AT the rim...telling me he can't finish in traffic and is very reliant on getting his own misses. Smart defenses will give Love the mid range shot all day. He isn't really an intimidating post player, and isn't all that quick laterally, he is defendable so long as you give him the RIGHT shot to take. I do suspect his rebounding numbers are a bit inflated as well. He can amend the defensive glass but I doubt he'll be the terror he is during the RS on the offensive boards when playoffs roll around. People actually try to box out when the stakes are high. Still, the cavs will be a rs juggernaut, but most of their success in the PS again, will be predicated on LBJ.
  9. Smith is the epitome of awful and useless. Nene is overpaid, but he's good when he plays and he expires sooner. That trade puts us n a bind because of the AWFUL floor spacing and absurd money being put into two 1 way players. Porter+neen for Monroe is the max I'd do. I'm not even all that hot on monroe he's ok but he's definitely lacking defensively, reminds of Boozer a little in that he's useless on one end of the court, same with j. smith being useless in half court offenses.
  10. I'm a vulgar EG/Randy hater, but at the very least I got to give credit where credit is due. Randy is actually coaching, and coaching damn well, it is almost he is more dialed in now (just like the players). I appreciate a coach that can elevate his abilities as well. Still don't like the last play we ran in regulation, but to actually get the guys to that point is good enough. Onto EG......I'm all in for right now, there are still flaws with this team in the long term....but the cast that is currently assembled, can hang with anyone. Pretty sure we all seen us take it to good teams and lay goose eggs against bad teams. When the guys are focused, they can ball...and it is showing, finally. We haven't even played our best game...so....I'm not quite sure what the "Ceiling" of this squad is...but it is pretty enjoyable so far. Wall will go off in game 3..feelin' it. For the record, I could forgive EG if he drafts a competent big in '15 draft class. This team has a REAL future if we find our "serve ibaka" or "taj Gibson" in that draft class. Nene is an awesome player, but we can't rely on him for more then 1.5 seasons I believe.
  11. I'm outta the country so I'm curious, how was the local media after the win? Did we get some love? I'm hoping DC gets hyped for friday. Also, found this gem elsewhere:
  12. You do know....they beat Mil, Bos, Phil, CLE, Utah and @Min...with only @MIN being the hard one there.....it isn't exactly like they playing even halfway decent treadmill teams. Knicks are a non factor, like yesterday, like today, and tomorrow and in the near future (Don't think Phil can recruit enough talent to make it work up there). As to Wall and his TOs, he's had good games and bad games. Obviously with the rotation in what seems like constant flux it plays a role in which passes are made, but he has a lot o weight on him as he's the only real playmaker outside of Miller, especially with Nene out. Turnovers will come down as he understands pace better, and he's show signs of slowing the game down already this season.
  13. I know DC is a football town first, but Wall is easily my favorite DC athlete. Yah he still has some faults, but you actually see the hard work paying off. He just doesn't talk and he doesn't get involved in drama. Blue collar star, who may become a superstar next season. Just need Beal to make the jump next season and we may be able to make some noise as soon as LBJ's decline starts (which may be 2 seasons away :/ )
  14. I would have signed earl clark, we need floor spacing. Wall probably could get Earl amazing looks. I mean look at what happened to Ariza. That and Clark has almost a better standing reach then Gortat, he's a bit skinny, but he has legit 4 size, something outside of Nene, that is severely lacking... Gooden....jesus, EG has no pride. Needs to be run the **** over by a truck. He's a blemish on humanity and must be purged. So tired of his cum dumpster ass.
  15. I'm not going by his stats this season, because he was injured to start it, and he is playing on an AWFUL...AWFUL team. The season before is what I'm going by. I'm not going to dock him points because he' being to asked to play in a no-win situation. The season before I'm pretty sure that Sloan analytics thing rated him as THE BEST defender in the league. He rated well on mysynergy last season as well I believe. He still produced about 13 pts a game per 36 with having no offense being run through him, and having Brandon Jennings as a PG. If we could get him for expirings straight up, you do it. Gortat isn't going to help us long term, at least with Sanders he still has 2-3 developmental years left and has yet the opportunity to be paired with a real PG...Gortat is a known commodity who I'm guessing EG will pay 4 years @10 mil per just so he can save his ass after the season. And then WE will be the new bucks. The one guy on your list that I think we could have an outside chance is Marc Gasol in '15 if we could maintain cap room...but we won't.... Another guy to go after this offseason is Ed Davis. Prototypical PF right there. Produces very well when given the chance. I'd much rather offer him money this season and force Nene to play center. He's essentially a low-post Jamison. Fairly gifted offensively, but he'll give up what he scores. He's kind of like Al Jefferson. Monroe could be average defensively if he bulked up and just became a full time Center.
  16. Gortat+Otto for Sanders is the trade I'd explore. Sanders is an elite defensive center, and can rebound damn well too. In fact he might be the 2nd best defensive center in the NBA after hibbert. Getting sanders paired next to Wall would be ideal...we'd lose some offensive firepower as Gortat can hit a jumper, but our defense would be taken to another level. Plus Sanders in only 25 and isn't making max money. Monroe at max money is bad value for essentially Jamison level defense.
  17. Warriors are a tease of a team. They are primarily jumpshooters, and fairly good ones at that. They're good enough to roll over a lot of regular season opponents, but they come off as pretenders to me. Once you take Curry away no one except maybe Lee is good enough to take make you consistently pay with them. Assuming health, Por, SAS, OKC should easily roll over them. I think a team like the Grizz (who are REALLY surging since Gasol's return) could also knock em out. If I'm the warriors I try to consolidate asset for love. Klay+Barnes+Lee+'14 pick (going to be high) for Love+Martin. They're not going to be able to keep BOTH Klay and Barnes anyways. They could have absurd floor spacing then. Of course Curry will have to learn to take control of the damn ball, and play a lick of defense.
  18. If Favors doesn't play we have a decent shot of winning. People ought to realize once T. Burks came back they were a decent team. Wall tends to slack defensively against "unestablished" PGs so it will be interesting how much effort he exudes tonight. Will also be interesting to watch Kanter...who I'd still like to trade for if at all possible.
  19. Come Dec 15 EG needs to trade Maynor+Seraphin+ future 2nd to GSW for Speights (who has fallin off there). Trade another future 2nd for the rights to Pierre Jackson to NOL...........And go from there. That HAS to be an improvement. The problem with the bench is the guys on there suck so bad that even moderately sucky bench players (JAN) dip down to their level.
  20. they have 3 pgs, they don't need Miller on the books. McGee is the "franchise" center so no trade could be made until he comes back, We would probably have to bring in a 3rd team and offer up more expirings. A lack of a SG is the biggest glaring problem with Den.
  21. If we want to make a deal, look to T. Mozgov on Den. He's on a completely reasonable contract and playing very good basketball. I'd offer Ariza+'15 2nd for Moz and Andre Miller/Nate Our 2 biggest needs would be addressed. Backup PG and Backup Center.
  22. Ariza has done something that generally NBA players don't do at his age. He has considerably improved his shooting which is galvanizing his game. I usually say an NBA player is who he is around 26 years old. Any improvements thereafter are incremental but not game changing (Unless you are LBJ/KObe like with work ethic). Ariza has CONSIDERABLY improved his 3 pt shooting. That was my biggest gripe with the guy when trading for him. That he was a brick house. I give him props for proving me wrong...but I think we'll see in due time...he isn't going to be able to sustain 43% 3 pt shooting considering his career norms are 33%. I think he'll settle in around 38-39% maybe an off chance at staying in the 40% club...but it is just insane to me how much he has improved. I mean outside of LBJ and Paul George, how many SFs in the east are definitively better then him right now? Melo...and...I can't think one guy absolutely better then him at the SF spot.
  23. Playing Nene the next two doesn't seem wise to me. Orl's bigs are fairly meh defensively (unless Vucivic made tremendous progress this season). I'd be ok with starting Booker and bring Jan off the bench. Less Maynor more Temple. Give GR 10 mins along with singleton. Starters should focus on pounding them early. Build lead that allows extended bench minutes. Also, if I recall correctly, hasn't Seraphin generally had good success against Orl? Maybe he can build some semblance of a rhythm today.
  24. I think 8th seed is reasonable, I think we have a legit chance at the 6th seed, and an outside chance at 5th (I believe the Knicks fall this season).
  25. ^None of the games are locally televised...****. I could have sworn all the games were televised last season by CSN.
