  1. Seraphin's problem is competency, he has some skill, just needs to actually realize when to and when not do certain things. I think the pressure of Okafor not being available could for him AND Vesely. Vesely's problem is confidence based, the lack of minutes last year just compounded problems. I still think Jan's rookie year wasn't THAT bad. I'm hoping Okafor will only be out 3 months or so, but I'll just assume he makes an April appearance. I'm not too worried about defense, we have fairly competent defenders...my only concern now is rebounding. Seraphin has to make ground there and it was nice to see Jan getting some boards in euro play. Booker is good on the glass as well, just can't stay healthy.
  2. Its a smokescreen, no way the Cavs don't take one of Porter/Noel. I actually like Len, and think he has high potential but I worry about how bad he wants to be great.
  3. No he doesn't jump high. But he still jumps, and he cuts, and he runs. I just don't know if his knee can handle the workload that the NBA will have for him. I hope it does, I love Noel. I just wouldn't take him with my top 5 pick because it's too much of a risk. And I have no doubt in my mind that he'll come back to nearly 95% of what he was. My issue isn't with his ACL or his growth plate (which may have been a factor here, and until some legitimate news tells me he's been red flagged by a consensus of doctors I'll just assume the issues been resolved) but whether I believe the probability is high that he has a freak play like that year after year. The good thing about us drafting him he can come back when he fully ready. I do think he'll come back around 225-235 this year, which is similar to Noah...but nobody is worried about his ACL tearing...I'd be much more worried about guys that have degenerative knees and require multiple micro fracture surgeries.
  4. Brees, Brady, Manning, Rogers, Ryan are all better pocket passers. The point is unproveable to me, as I think RG III will retain his high level of athleticism for 6-8 years more so people will always have to consider him a threat. Lucky for him he can actually become a better pocket passer in that time as well and won't have to rely on the reed option and play action stuff. I don't hate the guy fwiw. I just think he still has considerable room for improvement sans his athleticism, which speaks volume to his potential. Which is also why Noel is my number 1 choice, cause even without super elite athleticism he has ELITE INSTINCTS defensively. Big men don't show their true colors till they're 23-24 IMO.
  5. This is fair. Noel's addition would be to supplant Okafor as our defensive anchor for the future with Nene moving over to center. The thing we'd have to look for in either '14 or '15 would be a stretch 4 or just a well rounded PF. I think the long term issue for the wiz is replacing the bigmen cause Seraphin and Booker cannot be relied upon. The short term problem is bench scoring. Our starters are fine IMO, our bench is wretched.
  6. I don't think you can equate the two situations. The one thing you don't want to do with knee injuries is twist and a basketball player is going to do that on virtually every possession on both sides of the court. RG3 is 6-2 and weighs more than Nerlens Noel and his lower body strength is well known. That strength is key in preventing knee injuries. Noels legs look like two Q-tips put together and he's going to have guys far stronger and heavier looking to knock his lower body around. That's in addition to the fact that his entire game replies on explosive leaping, which in turn leads to high impact landing. While the NFL is absolutely more violent than the NBA RG3 can do a lot more to minimize risk than an NBA center can do. Noel's injury seemed to be an unfortunate landing to me, kind of a freak instance. I don't think its reasonable to assume a guy who played with the same style and played effectively for most of the college season is due for an ACL tear once a year. For the record, I'm glad we have RG III and absolutely root for him succeed but he isn't a "strong" qb, he's tough but to a fault. His style of play is conducive to building up injuries over time. If you believe RG III can make his style of play more constructive in fostering long term health I'm sure Noel will be more careful in how he leaps out of bounds. Young guys can improve their style of play. And you don't seriously think RG III would be AS effective sans his athleticism...do you? He's a good passer but lets not make him out to be top 5 or anything. Also, RG III is 23...and probably filled out as much as he's going to. Noel still has 3-4 years of development weight he can add on healthy increments. He can get stronger. I'm not buying that Noel is any more risky then RG III, if the doctors clear them both they're fine. It's different with basketball man. And you know this. RG3 isn't that tall and doesn't weigh as much as Noel. And Noel will be doing a lot more jumping, running, cutting, than RG3. And noel is like 19...he is going to get stronger. Just cause a guy has an ACL tear doesn't mean you completely discount his talent IF the doctors clear him. Also look at a lot of Noel's block, he isn't jumping that high IMO, he has elite blocking instincts. I think he'll be just as good defensively even when he's 30 and his leaping has left him. I don't know about VA, but in Maryland and DC, Kevin Durant is probably the only person that can touch RG3 as far as popularity goes. I honestly don't care who the Wizards draft. Just as long as it isn't Noel. I just don't want us to have the next Greg Oden. So you must be ok with our football franchise having a starting QB with questionable healt, right? People can't have it both ways. If Noel passes a physical there is no reason to harbor any injury concern prejudices against him. It's not like the knee is the only question about Noel. RGIII was a pretty well-known entity even before he came into the league. Yes, there were injury concerns, but there was little question about his play and his ability to lead a team. With Noel...who knows? He is a hell of an athlete, but he has a very unrefined game. He was an excellent defender in high school and for two-thirds of a season in college and I am sure that would mostly equate to the pros. But with the banging a post player takes, I don't know how well he is going to handle it. His slight frame and limited offensive game concern me. Those are two concerns we did not have about RGIII coming out of college. So regardless of the differences between the two sports, Noel is still a project in many aspects, where RGIII never was. I never said I didn't have a problem with people saying to pass on Noel cause of his lack of offensive game...people saying to pass on him cause of his ACL tear just sounds like hypocritical bull **** to me. People also need to stop acting like he's going to weigh 218 for his entire career. He isn't freaking tyrus thomas. He's already stated that his goal is to get up to by 230 by nov/dec. Also, Anthony Davis was 220 last season...people don't have much concern there for some reason. Point is both players will fill out and develop. Noel doesn't come off as a malcontent either...I'm not so sure why it isn't reasonable to assume that someone with his pedigree will improve offensively.
  7. I don't know about VA, but in Maryland and DC, Kevin Durant is probably the only person that can touch RG3 as far as popularity goes. I honestly don't care who the Wizards draft. 8. I can understand reservations with regards to Noel cause of the raw offensive game...I can't understand how you would dismiss him cause of his injury. I would hope those people who are against Noel realize the redskins employ a starting QB who has torn his ACL twice...and there aren't many people calling for us to trade him or anything. His ACL should be a non issue assuming he passes a physical.
  9. I'm making an assumption here, but I think the organization in Utah knows they won't get anyone in this draft that could make them into a playoff contender. And while I doubt a mid teen pick next year will change their fortunes too, you're assuming people are simply going to offer top 5 picks for milsap...this is flat out stupid. He can walk. Utah has little to no leverage. Why would you offer the third this year? The package I offered allows for a couple things, an expiring that clears some cap for '14, a 2nd round pick this year they can use as they like, and probably a mid teen pick next year in a fairly deep draft (or so they say). Now would you rather have cap room in a year where no one out there can really turn your franchises' fortunes around or next season when some decent FAs will be available? Not to mention some picks. Offering up the 3rd immediately makes me question your bargaining skills.
  10. The notion that we'd have to give up the number 3 pick for him is Milsap is insane. He's an UFA, he can walk for nothing. All you have to do is offer UTAH expirings and a top 10 protected '14 1st+2nd+Booker and he's here. If they value a stretch 4 that much then just draft Bennett and be done with it. That guy has star potential, not sure he'll reach it but any scenaio in which we give up the 3rd and one of Kanter or Cousins isn't coming back is probably going to be meaningless trade for us moving forward.
  11. Draft Porter. Trade the 2 2nds and move up as far as possible and Muscala. If Pierre Jackson is still available late, buy a 2nd and draft him as well. S&T Ariza+Booker+future 2nd+ for Milsap (UTAH isn't going to retain him, might as well get pieces to tnak with and expirings) Bring back Temple for the minimum, see the same for AJ. Wall/AJ/Pierre Beal//Tomas/Temple Porter/Webster Millsap/Seraphin/Jan Nene/Okafor/Muscala Follow the Kings situation closely towards the trade deadline and see if you can unload Nene+Seraphin+Jan+Pierre+ unprotected '14 for Cousins (this has the least likely chance to occur)
  12. unless Noel gets medically red flagged I don't see how it isn't Porter or Noel. CLE could take Porter...ORL takes Burke, we choose from Noel/Bennett. Otherwise it'll be Porter. ORL already has a **** **** ton of forwards.
  13. Ok...robot beats monster with oil tanker, how can we not win? This looks like it'll be very entertaining. Story seems a little cliche (especially if you've ever seen a Japanese anime mech series) but I can't imagine it'd be worse than any of the transformer movies now.
  14. Outside of Wall and Beal none of them really have an opinion that should matter THAT much. Okafor/Nene/Seraphin aren't long term solutions, Adding a young big with potential isn't a bad thing since the young bigs we have haven't really shown anything worth a damn. Nene/Okafor have their own faults as well. I'm all for listening to players and coaches, provided that they are worth listening to.
  15. I'm not sold on McGary, he seems like a one way player. He's strong, but not overly quick. Doesn't have much in the explosiveness department and probably won't end up being a rim protector. He's also an atrocious FT shooter. Seems like someone with limited upside. I'd rather have Zeller than McGary. oh and Miami's big three is out tonight, watch us still find a way to lose.
  16. Probably has the highest upside in the draft. He's absurdly massive and mobile for his size. As you noticed though, the kid needs to add 30-40 lbs though. He has the frame to do it. From the few highlights I seen he seems to play more competently then McGee (not trying to do anything foolish off the dribble). He blocks a lot of shots...but hopefully not in the manner of our departed simpleton of a center. I wouldn't be opposed to drafting him, just because of where his ceiling is. I think he also wants to come over this year and play. Which would help. He'd probably give more productive minutes then everyone on our bench except Ariza and Price. ---------- Post added April-10th-2013 at 01:07 PM ---------- Also after that putrid display of effort last night, i want someone who plays chippy, with some cot damn effort. Noel is such a great big cause of his hustle, he doesn't take plays off. Even if he is offensively challenged at the moment you know you'll get some decent production out of him on blue collar work alone. Booker and occasionally Vesely are the only bigs that seem to do that for us regularly. Nene/Okafor occasionally hustle but seems not that often to me. Bennett's inability to hustle on D and exude effort both ways troubles me...I'm hoping he fixes that. Otto Porter generally seems to put energy into his defensive effort as well. For all of Shabazz's fault you can't tell me he isn't a hell of a competitor out there, he crashes the offensive boards pretty well for SF. I rag on Zeller a lot too but he does play every possession, I think he'll still find a niche in the NBA for that alone. My top 5 right now is probably for us based on need: Noel Porter Shabazz Bennett (mostly on potential) Len/Austin Seeing as how we're slated at the 8/9 spot currently...and if you take into account other team needs, Noel McLemore and Smart should all go 1-3...The cavs should be picking 4th, and I think they'll either go the route of big man or best wing scorer they can get, preferably one that doesn't dominate the ball away from Kyrie. I think they'd go Muhammad or Oladipo. I don't see porter or Muhammad falling to us at the 8/9 spot. Burke is overrated, he will be the next Mike Conley, who i love as a player, but is no CP3.
  17. So I bought some motor oil a little while ago from walmart (castrol I believe) and I look in my trunk the other day and find that the entire contents of the container (5 quarts I think) leaked out all into my trunk carpet...Which is infuriating cause I never even opened the container... I've taken the carpet out, but found that the cardboard is attached to the trunk carpet, with linoleum lining both underneath... The oil has soaked completely through it...I've washed it with hot water and dawn soap...it got some oil out...but I can just tell there is a lot more embedded into it...Anyone have any thoughts on how to go about cleaning it? I'm already assuming the carpet will be stained as all hell but as long as I can clean it and use it I'm not so worried.
  18. ORL is in an odd spot, they have a ton of young talent that could be potentially pretty damn good...The thing is, the big prizes next season in '14 draft are all fowards...Parker, Wiggins, Randle...Maybe they'd entertain trading one of Harris/Harkless if they got the 1st/2nd pick next season.
  19. Hopefully CLE takes Zeller, that'll screw them in the playoffs when defense/rebounding matter. It'd also help our ability to contend in the future.
  20. There is a funny thing regarding this I don't understand. I remember in the beginning of the season, our bench did SO much scoring since our starters were inept. I think an improper rotation might be key. So many guys go through funks that they press because they don't want to lose minutes. I think Booker is shaping back up to form, the key with him is if he can stay healthy, but he's relatively cheap so I'm not so worried about him (I think he should be kept unless someone actually WANTs him for something valuable to us). Seraphin is passing way better these days. I still think he's salvageable. rebounding still needs to come into form. Whenever we get mathematically eliminated from playoff contention (yes I used the P word) Nene/Okafor ought to be shut down. There is no point in logging minutes on Nene I think, and Okafor will take away developmental minutes. Vesely needs to keep shooting, as soon as he checked in last game I remember him clanking a jumper, I don't mind it cause he didn't hesitate. He'll never live up to his billing, but the organization needs to make some attempt in salvaging him. Singleton at SF isn't a total train wreck either. He should focus on catching and shooting though. He could learn a little from Webster in that regard.
  21. the fact he did that with Cartier martin and Chris Singleton should be speaking volume to people...The phrase "flipped the switch" is so cliche, but I've never seen it be so....apt then in here. That was the 2nd best wizard's performance I've ever seen. We're going to be picking around 9-12 at this rate...What a stretch 4 would do for this team... I rag on Okafor time to time, but he also played another good game. For the most part contained Z-bo.
  22. I don't know the history of Hoyas basketball as well as others, but JT III doesn't seem to have "it" in terms of post season success. One time could be an anomaly if you're a higher ranking seed...but this guy is repetitively failing when he shouldn't. I always thought he was overrated...but not bad...I'm beginning to think he gets by on name more then merit. I could be very wrong on this though...
  23. i think the most we can offer is the MLE, which is probably ok by me...It is also kind of helps in negotiating since he knows that is high as we can possibly go anyways.
  24. Need to put Vesely in when JJ gets subbed in and have him flash kick JJ in the face. I mean if he's gonna get DNPs might as well have him eliminate some D-bags.
