MattFancy
http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/features/scouting/_/position/9 54. Clinton Portis: He is a starting running back who can still get the job done, even though he's on the downside of his career. He is tough but injuries are definitely starting to show the wear and tear on his game. He played in only eight games last season due to a severe concussion. He flashes the ability to be explosive. He still shows quickness and agility inside. He plays with good pad level as an inside runner but is more effective playing on the perimeter. His hands are average. He will occasionally drop balls out in the flat or on the checkdowns. He can still be productive if he is not overworked. Wow there is no way I'd rank CP this low. I still think he is a top 20 back in the league. Here's the whole list: 1. Adrian Peterson 2. Chris Johnson 3. Steven Jackson 4. Frank Gore 5. DeAngelo Williams 6. Maurice Jones-Drew 7. Ray Rice 8. Michael Turner 9. Johnathon Stewart 10. Marion Barber 11. Jamaal Charles 12. Joseph Addai 13. Pierre Thomas 14. Brian Westbrook 15. Cedric Benson 16. Rashard Mendenhall 17. Ricky Williams 18. Ahmad Bradshaw 19. Chester Taylor 20. Darren Sproles 21. Felix Jones 22. Reggie Bush 23. Beanie Wells 24. Ryan Grant 25. Shonn Greene 26. Steve Slaton 27. Thomas Jones 28. Darren McFadden 29. LeSean McCoy 30. Matt Forte 31. Fred Jackson 32. Leon Washington 33. Ronnie Brown 34. Willis McGahee 35. Laurence Maroney 36. Brandon Jacobs 37. Jerome Harrison 38. Cadillac Williams 39. Larry Johnson 40. Michael Bush 41. Bernard Scott 42. Jerious Norwood 43. Kevin Smith 44. Knowshown Moreno 45. Derrick Ward 46. Justin Forsett 47. LaDanian Tomlinson 48. Clifton Smith 49. Donald Brown 50. Kevin Faulk 51. Maurice Morris 52. Sammy Morris 53. Tashard Choice 54. Clinton Portis 69. Willie Parker What's the difference between Westbrook, Tomlinson, and Portis? How is Westbrook #14 and LT #47 and Portis #54???

addicted
Can you post the entire list? If against the rules please don't. I'm extremely excited about CP this year and the more people who think like the dope who ranked him 54th the more likely we can all get him very late in drafts this year. I've been seeing him go in the 8th round lately, what a freaking steal!!!

Skinz248
Yea whoever created this list is mentally challenged... LJ above CP? Why is LJ the back up then?
JustAfan47
Some of the people listed above him: 39. Larry Johnson 48. Clifton Smith (Who?) 51. Maurice Morris 32. Leon Washington 19. Chester Taylor 10. Marion Barber (this has to be a joke) 26. Steve Slaton 28. Darren McFadden 38. Cadillac Williams This list is horrible! What have those guys done in the league? Wow Marion Barber at F'en 10!!!!.... This whole list seems comical to me. To me CP is a top 20 back easy.
HA1LV1CT0RY
What a terrible list.. Speaking of CP, anyone ever notice whenever he runs he is leaning so far forward that he falls down even though he hasn't been hit? Almost like he is anticipating trucking someone. bulldog
Chester Taylor and Leon Washington are not full-time backs. How can you compare them to guys that carry 250 plus times a season? In addition, these rankings don't take into consideration that Portis helps keep his quarterback upright in pass protection as well as any other back in the NFL. That means that McNabb plays more games and the Redskins post more wins in 2010 I want to see Leon Washington try to carry the ball as a #1 back. He wouldn't last 5 weeks. authentic
M. Barber haven't had a 1,000 yard season in his career and he's ranked in the top 10? Man, these people are crazy....Sometimes i think Jerry Jones runs ESPN as a side-hustle.
authentic
In addition, these rankings don't take into consideration that Portis helps keep his quarterback upright in pass protection as well as any other back in the NFL.. Nor do they take into consideration that CP has never played in a system (While in Wash.) that had a down-field threat. Meaning meaning that, when healthy, has put up some admirable numbers even when teams game-planned around him.
terpskins10
Kevin Smith above CP? REALLY? Clifton Smith, who has a whole 12 carries for 47 yards and is a kickoff return specialist? This is a terrible, terrible list. Wow.

This is a terrible, terrible list. Wow. Yeah I didn't even know who Clifton Smith was lol. This list makes no sense to me at all. There's guys ranked ahead of CP and even LT that have done nothing in this league. Yeah CP and LT are on the downsides of their careers, but then why is Brian Westbrook at #14? Something tells me if the 14th best RB was available, teams would be lining up to sign him. Why weren't teams jumping all over Westbrook to sign him? Hunter_R
Why not wait for Portis to prove them wrong? He hasn't been good since about halfway through '08.
Santana_89
I still believe that Portis is a top 15 back (personally he's in my Top 10). He's had at least 1100 yards every year he's been in the league except 2006 and 2009 both due to sesaon ending injuries. Reuniting with Shanny/Bobby Turner has been the best thing that ever happend to CP. We heard nothing but glowing reviews from the media (even those who hate on CP had to admit he is in top form;)) In the Baltimore game we saw that explosive - quick through hole burst. Once the sesaon starts the local and national media will act is if this is some sort of comeback for CP ,when in the words of LL Cool J he's been here for years. MattFancy
Why not wait for Portis to prove them wrong? He hasn't been good since about halfway through '08. I agree, but he hasn't been THAT bad. I'd say he's probably a top 20-25 back right now. Which is way better than 54th.
ddub52
This list is not even close to accurate. I could name at least 20 people that are WAY out of position. But its not even worth my time

SMOSS89
Someone get this to Clinton quickly. He has really had his quietest offseason as a Redskin ever. Which is good, he has been training and totally buying into to Mike Shanahan. He has a chance to really prove some people wrong this year.
