Intense and compelling match with the footballing quality of a Sheffield derby this one.

Aside from the whole team playing with no touch, Liverpool need something more creative in midfield.

Easy to second guess but imo Keita should have been on at some point for Liverpool. He had a bit of a rocky start and had a tough time settling but on ability alone he's one of the best in the world at his position. Sir Alex for all his greatness had a bad habit of trying to outsmart himself with his selections in big games and sacrificed quality for "big game" players, when sometimes you just need to get your best players on the pitch.  Still a long way to go in a league full of land mines. City have been easily frustrated by teams that park the bust against them and if the ball bounces differently some of those 1-0 wins could have easily been 0-0 draws.

Now that I’m somewhat dry again .....

Well that might well turn out to be another invaluable point toward the title. But we won’t know whether its a good point or bad until May 12.

Frustrating afternoon where we just weren’t quite on it all over the park. Controlled it sound for the most part and had more than enough excellent scoring opportunities. Just lads final touches/ decisions being off and balls not quite dropping. Frustrating and annoying as I always want to be beat Everton more than anyone. (‘Always the victims ..... ‘ From fellow Scousers. REALLY? Bitter ____houses.). But this season of all seasons they were gonna fight tooth and nail for everything.

On the plus side, that’s 5 clean-sheets again in a row. (17 and counting the league for Alisson.). Which is a super base the run-in and Europe before the attack inevitably starts to click again. And the single most important thing, when you aren’t on it and aren’t playing too well, don’t get beat. Take the point and move on to the gameplan for Burnley.

Let’s see how City cope with their away Derby in among a brutal looking end to April for them.

Frustrating to not beat the Ev. But quite calm and happy in the bigger picture.

A point behind with 9 to play.

And only 2 of those against top 6 sides. Both at home? We’ve had FAR worse Sundays.

Up the down but nowhere near out Reds!

Hail.

Agreed but from a managers POV, he’s a lot more to weigh up than ourselves. Both in the line-up before the game/ bench options and how a game is balanced when it comes to changes.

Lallana knows our system inside out and wouldn’t break the shape to expose us going the other way. (As bith Naby and more so big Shaq with his feelancinb have at times this year whilst they still learn their respective roles within the team.). And he is an attacking player in his own right lets not forget.

‘I’d’ of probably brought Naby on but I can understand, from a coaches/ managers stand-point, why they do what they do.

If everyone is healthy on both sides it doesn't look good. PSG are similar in style of play and United had no answers, all be it dealing with injuries. Considering what happened last year at the emptyhad they'll be weary of another trap. We can beat them but I suspect they'll be at their absolute best.

Reds looking increasingly nervous, though it was a derby where tensions are elevated.  Just didn't have that settled approach to possession or attack like was had vs. watford-- a side at a similar spot on the table as the Ev.

Hopefully with 5 of 9 remaining at home and 7 of 9 against bottom 14 teams (with both of the remaining top 6 games at home), the nerves will calm a bit.  Need that creative spark to break down the buses that will inevitably be parked.  Far to pedestrian today... too content in the attacking third and too passive in the defending third (more the 2nd half).  The Reds had their chances and were, by far, the more deserving team of a win, but just not clinical enough with the few chances they generated.

Milner and Firmino did not look good during the time they had.  Bobby's been off his game, and Milner shouldn't be more than a squad player in the midfield at this point.

On you reds!  27 left to get!

Our run-ins picture perfect yanno’ now Utd and Everton are done.

6 games against 6 the bottom 7 teams and Chelsea/ Tottenham/ Wolves at home.

Couldn’t have hand picked a much better run of games.

Honestly see us running 9 out of 9 there.

If City also go perfect fair ****s to them. Couldn’t grumble at all losing it to a 98 point team.

Like Pep has said on City if they lose out to ourselves, I’d have NO regrets personally.

Just immense pride at flipping a MAMMOTH 25 point gap from last season to be serious contenders again against the most expensively assembled side in history putting together two of the greatest back-to-back seasons in English top flight history.

Twice you’ve madly posted chopped quotes that leave something looking completly different to what they actually were to push this silly ‘excuses’ narrative.

The weather made it difficult and aided to less of a spectacle. It was ugly enough standing through it.

Pray tell whats wrong with that?

I really like Gary Neville as a pundit. Tells it straight on what he believes with no ulterior agenda. I’d take him any day of the week over Sky’s rent-a-gob****e Carragher who just plays the Sky game for the sake of controversy.

But telling L’pool Football Club to sack off the European Cup for the PL ..... SERIOUSLY Gary?

Who do yers think we are? Tottenham?!!!!!

This club’s history has been built, in large parts, on great European nights. Why our standing is still SO high across the Continent. One of Europe’s marquee clubs who only look up to Madrid amd Milan in UEFA competition lore.

There’s NO bigger competition/ prize in football than the European Cup. Certainly in club football. I want the league as much as the next man. Nigh on 30 years wait is a LONG time between titles. But give me the European Cup over the PL ANY day of the week. Champions of a whole Continent> Champions of a Country.

And you think we should jib that for the sake of the league Gary? SERIOUSLY?!!!!! Would you say the same about Utd this week in Paris for the sake of the top 4?

All that said, I want both. And with the depth of what is almost a fully healthy squad again for the run-in, there’s absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t be going all out for both as we are.

Disgracefully poor suggestion. Whatever the premise was behind it.

Some good. Some bad.

What they give with one hand they take away with the other.

Great that time-waisiting subs are being clamped down on. Along with attackers disrupting defensive walls and the ball not having to leave the area on goal-kicks etc. But why mess with penalty rebounds?

D.C. United open MLS 2019 on top of Power Rankings

r509738_2_1296x729_16-9.jpg&w=238&h=133&

It's never too early for a statement game. United's 2-0 win over Atlanta United, no matter the issues Atlanta faces in the CONCACAF Champions League and adjusting to life under Frank de Boer, should put the East on notice. That Black and Red you saw late in 2018, the one with a killer combination of attacking players and emerging stars in midfield? Yeah, that's for real.

Ajax with 2 early tallies against the Ramos-less Real defense. Already negates the 2 away goal differential, and takes a 3-2 aggregate lead.

Getting the finishing they they were unable to in the first leg, where they completely out played Real, only to give up 2 late, and have one taken away by VAR. Lots of young talent on the Dutch side.

Real having to use two early substitutions now as well. This could be a major shocker!

Barca just finished knocking them out of league and Copa Del Rey in back to back Clasicos.

Imagine losing all three parts of a treble in one week.

Three games, all at home.

Wow.

*Edit*

0-3.

Does Solari even make it out of the stadium still employed?

Real v Ajax a perfect example of why VAR should not exist. 4 minutes to try and determine if a ball went out when there is no angle to give a clear and definitive answer. Complete joke.

Anyway, Tadic belter. 3-0.

Talk about a belter!

Well, it was a 2 year run of magnificance fueled by Ronaldo and Marcelo (is he hurt?).
We happened to be out for lunch and enjoyed watching Ajax go 2 up.

The build-up was amazing on the second goal with the 360 move plus perfect pass.... brutal brutal week...
