Darc Requiem
I noticed that the first official depth chart was released. What are the biggest surprises to everyone? Mine is Justin Tryon being dead last on CB depth chart. I thought he was supposed to be doing very well. I know this a fluid chart and that will change significantly before the season. However, I still thought it would warrant discussion. http://www.redskins.com/gen/team/depthChart.jsp
Coolio47
I would say Thomas being third behind Roydell Williams.

VeroViper
I'm not too surprised by any of it. Goes along with stuff we've been hearing. But seeing the name Joey Galloway as a starting receiver on the depth chart is a little frightening. If we really don't have anyone on the roster that can overtake Joey Galloway for a starting job maybe we do need to look into an upgrade.
Warhead36
Seeing Galloway over Kelly and Thomas isn't so much surprising as it is disappointing.
redwoodaudio
Both Kelly and Thomas riding the 3rd stringers bench behind Roydell Williams and Anthony Armstrong was a bit of a surprise.

Oldskool
Slow Willie Parker at 4th string. Nah, not really. Willie Parker-RB-Redskins Aug. 9 - 1:22 pm et Willie Parker is listed fourth on the depth chart that the Redskins posted Monday afternoon. Coach Mike Shanahan downplayed the significance of the depth chart, but it's noteworthy that Parker is now behind Ryan Torain. The former Steeler was expected to battle Clinton Portis and Larry Johnson for the starting job. Instead, he's battling for a roster spot. We've yet to find any local scribes that believe Parker will make the team. Torain could find his way into the third-down mix, though Portis is easily the team's best pass blocker. Kindred
Is it normal to have almost no depth in special teams?
Oldskool
Is it normal to have almost no depth in special teams? This depth chart is extremely preliminary and even Shanny himself said don't place too much stock in it. Hell, the team hasn't even had a preseason game yet. Hitman21ST
Is it normal to have almost no depth in special teams? The chart lists 3 punt returners, 4 kick returners. How is there no depth? One kicker, one punter, one holder. Punter's the holder. Kicker's the KOS. You don't really need depth there.
Soup's Uncle
Biggest surprise: Devin Thomas. Kelly I expected cus the dude hasn't practiced. I'm also surprised Austin isn't higher up, considering he's been one of the supposed bright spots at camp.

Hitman21ST
Shanny could have put them as first teamers because he wants to see what they can do against first team D if they make the team...
Darc Requiem
The Parker situation doesn't surprise me at all. I have feeling he will be gone before the second preseason game.

MattFancy
I'm surprised with Thomas. I think alot of us had high hopes for him this season. But I guess we'll learn more in the coming weeks.
ATLredskin
this is all you need to know... Depth Chart is unofficial if I was to make a depth chart right now then the level of importance/accuracy would be the equivalent to this...
gutlead74
On the Austin front. Shanahan cut Anthony Miller cuz he couldn't/wouldn't block, don't know if that is the case here but maybe that is a possible explanation. Devin is a very good blocker. I think the Shanahans' ability to scheme recievers open will allow us to throw the ball well enough to win. At least I hope so.
