Miss Michigan Rima Fakih was crowned Miss USA on Sunday night, becoming the first Arab-American to ever win the pageant.

Fakih, 24, a former New Yorker who was raised in Dearborn, Mich., beat out 50 other contestants, including runner-up Miss Oklahoma, for the grand prize.

When asked on stage how she felt about the big win, the petite brunette quipped, "Ask me after I've had a pizza."

"I feel great. Thanks for hiring me, Donald Trump," she said of the co-owner of the Miss USA pageant.

Fakih accepted her crown from Kristen Dalton, the outgoing Miss USA, at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Born in Lebonon, she immigrated with her parents to the United States as a baby and attended Catholic school in New York City until her family moved to Michigan in 2003.

Anyway. Has anyone else noticed a trend thats been going on with the Virginia pageant winners lately? It seems as if they have been placing fairly highly as of late.

Not just in this competition, but in all national pageants.

Man, that bathing suit competition was one of the best I've seen in some time. Most, if not all of the girls had absolutely gorgeous bodies. I don't know how many times I said "Daaaammmmnnnn."

of course the wife walked in as I was watching it and I said "I was just flipping through the channels.":pfft:

BTW...the hip bone is not only connected to leg bone but apparently it is supposed to protrude out of one's body.

Lol. I mean I'd hit it and everything but I was thinking the exact same thing. Maybe it's just a bad pic.

I think she is Lebanese, not Arabic.

I'm seriously curious to know what you think Arabic consists of.

Lebanese speak Arabic, so they are Arabs by definition. They also speak french, so they are also a mess by definition. lol

They do tend to be waaaay more liberal than other arabs tho, itll be a loooong time before you a Saudi woman doing this.

In the general scale of liberal to conservative its: Maghrabis (Lebanese, Moroccan, Tunisian), followed by Jordanian and West-Bank Palestinians, then Egyptians, Syrians, then Sudanese, then non-Saudi Gulfies (Omani/Emirati/Bahrainian/Qatari), and finally Yemenis and Saudis. Interestingly, conservativeness and distance from Mecca seems to be correlated. Interesting. Thats my experience anyways.

Im curious to know how many people would really be okay if their daughter choose to parade herself in a bikini in front of the nation. Are muslim parents the only ones who would have a problem with that? I doubt that somehow, but I could be wrong.

Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih in stripper scandal

Recently crowned Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih is getting a lot of attention for her stage talent. Hours after Fakih's pageant win, photos surfaced of the 24-year-old beauty competing in a radio station stripping contest, which she reportedly won.

Detroit's Mojo in the Morning claims Fakih won their Stripper 101 contest in 2007. If the rumors are true, Fakih joins a long list of pageant winners involved in embarrassing scandals, including:

• Ashley Harder turned in the Miss USA crown in 2007 when she became pregnant;

• Leona Gage was Miss USA 1957 for a while - until officials learned she was not only three years younger than she claimed, but was married twice and had two children;

• Tara Connor, Miss USA 2006, tested positive for cocaine and was rumored to have brought men into her Trump Place apartment against pageant regulations;

• Vanessa Williams, Miss America 1983, resigned when Penthouse published pictures taken years earlier of Williams and another woman in compromising positions;

• Miss California 2009 Carrie Prejean was criticized after topless photos she'd taken surfaced.
