NFL.COM/PFT: (JLC) Haynesworth trade expected now

I think its same ol redskins if we get fleeced..... its not about trading him or not... its about not dumping an elite DT for peanuts

Is Haynesworth worth more than a 3rd, heck yeah, he's an elite player BUT seems to be tough to get fair value in draft picks these days for established players and it gets double tough when the league knows the the team and the player want to part ways.

What did the Raiders get for Randy Moss? a 4th rounder? TO was released by both the Eagles and Cowboys and its not like he stank when he was playing for them.

Please. He is being paid extremely well to play football. He can adapt.

If he can't, then get rid of him.

We don't know if he can adapt or not at this point, and to sell an asset at a heavy discount based on an unknown seems foolish.

Do you really think if we keep him and he begrudgenly plays, he will be worth that much less? The upside (hell, even if he plays as good as last year in the new D) is seems much more than the downside (his value dropping from a 3rd to say a 5th?).

We were also drafting Trent Williams according to multiple sources.

not JLC

the ticker on NFL Network all day yesterday read "according to NFL Network Inside Jason... The Redskins are expected to select Eric Berry."

When we were on the clock he changed it to Trent Williams.

I don't know if this has been posted yet....

But if we give him to the Titans, this would be Jason Taylor all over again x100....Pay him a ridiculous amount of money for one year for limited to no production. Then we give him back to his original team who gets him at a cheaper price. LOL @ our FO. What are we doing???

In order to start getting over the nightmare the Capitals needed to unload Jagr to the Rangers and got little in return. Sometimes that's the price for making a huge mistake.

Jagr had talent but was owed $70M on a very bad contract that should never have been offered to him.

Ditto here.

Haynesworth has talent but after being paid $32M in bonus money the open question is whether he will ever approximate the hungry player he was in 2007 and 2008 when he was working on one year tenders.

Fisher and Washburn have a relationship with him and are willing to structure their defense around his skills, so he has value to them because they think they can get through to him.

But because there is still some doubt there, the compensation is going to be less than it otherwise would be.

If Haynesworth had a 2009 season that was reminiscient of his 2007 season he would have been a lot more marketable.

This signing was the perhaps the last of the mistakes Vinny and Co. made that Shanahan and Allen have to work through, and it is the biggest to boot.

Thanks again, Vinny. The gift that keeps on giving.

Could be wrong but thought Mayock had Trent and I recall Trent being a hot prospect in the rumorville till the end, when Lombardi and some others started hyping Berry yesterday. But Trent definitely wasn't a pick out of the blue, saw him and Okung in many mocks. If I recall that was Mosely's pick too with ESPN.

KDawg is correct.

Here is a good analogy:

You are a WR on the team. In the offseason, the team decides to switch from a Coryell offense, to a WCO. You are pissed.

So does that now mean that all of our WRS should just walk? Whine, cry, and come in out of shape?

Meanwhile, the team is paying you $40 million?

Please. He is being paid extremely well to play football. He can adapt.

If he can't, then get rid of him.

actually, thats a terrible analogy, a better one would be, you are the number one receiver in a pass heavy offence, the new coach comes in and wants to run a wishbone where they run 80% of the time and decides to move you to TE because you are big and strong even though they only throw to the TE once a game.

the biggest thing is that when we signed Albert a huge part of the reason he came here was not just the cash but the fact that we SAID we were going to run an aggressive 4-3 that suited him and that he was comfortable with.

And that changed.

It's not Haynesworth's fault. And it's not Shanahan's fault.

It happened. And now the issue needs to be resolved (if there even is an issue.)

And they got a 3rd round comp I believe.

AH said he will not take part in the voluntary workouts due to bad experience last year and he will work on his own to get back to his proball shape... at least this is what he said!

And that's an idiotic stance from him. Who was the coach last year? And where is that coach now?

Why would Zorn's offseason program have any relevance to Shanahan's offseason program?

Whether we trade AH or not, it's pretty clear we've been stockpiling d-linemen for a reason. I'd say Shanny wants to become less reliant on AH, regardless of whether Albert ends up here or somewhere else. He doesn't want to be reliant on a player he doesn't like.

Shanny's view of AH became pretty clear after the minicamp. When asked about Albert, Shanny tersely said he's only thinking about the players who are here.

JLC is getting back at the fans and this board in particular for all the mean things we said about him. Just trying to mess with our heads.
