Preacher is fined for homophobia

I was...sort of.

ASF's post made it seem like he would rather gloss over the parts of the gospel that make people uncomfortable, unlike Shawn Holes. His subsequent posts just reinforced that IMHO. Almost like he is ashamed or scared of what people might think if he tells the truth of the gospel that all of us are sinners in need of a savior.

If you believe a person will go to eternal death without Jesus Christ, how much do you have to hate someone to not proselytize him?

I'd tell you to get soaked, but you wouldn't listen. Just because I don't go into situations looking for a fight just to get my theological testosterone pumping doesn't mean that I'm ashamed of the gospel nor the demands it makes upon my life, although you obviously think so.

BTW, IMHO. means "in my humble opinion" might I suggest in the future using IMO.

preachers should be mindful of the laws when they preach, and if they decide to go against those laws then they should be willing to accept the consequences. Personally, preach about Jesus Christ lift Him up and you can't go wrong.

Jesus Christ spoke more about the consequences of sin more then any other subject in the New Testament. Glossing over that subject only because people don't want to hear it and/or are offended by the message would be wrong for someone who claims to be a Christian.

Who is glossing over it? There is a difference between glossing over something and seeking out a fight. Telling someone that they are deserving of God's wrath is picking a fight. I can tell someone that we all are deserving of God's wrath because God is a just God, without singling out one particular example of sin above all others. That's the problem with this whole argument in the church right now, too many want to elevate homosexuality above every other sin as if every single person isn't in the same exact situation.

Matthew 19:25-26

Who can then be saved?

For man it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.

The law brings us to the place where we find that we are desperate for salvation and the law shows us that we are incapable of saving ourselves, and in our desperation God is there freely offering us forgiveness. Yes, Jesus taught about sin, and so does the law, but not just ONE sin, sin is greater than homosexuality. In fact the act of a sin is simply the outward expression of the inward fallen nature, in that way we each have our own homosexuality.

Much worse that that ... not only did he seek out a confrontation but when accused he plead guilty that his views on homosexuality were "homophobic" and "aggravated by religious prejudice".

As precedent is an important concept in local law, he's really screwed over local street preachers who want to talk about homosexuality. :ols:

Perhaps you didn't read the part where he didn't preach about homosexuality until some homosexuals began heckling him and asking him specifically about it?

Who do you think was really looking for a fight?

Pretty sure Rome could have cared less what he or others called him....

....hence the wanting to free him....

Pretty sure that the Pharisees knew that Pontious Pilate was under pressure to eradicate political opposition in his region.

John 19:12-14 but the Jews cried out, "If you release this man, you are no friend of the emperor. Everyone who claims to be a king sets himself against the emperor." 13 When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus outside and sat on the judge's bench at a place called The Stone Pavement, or in Hebrew Gabbatha. 14 Now it was the day of Preparation for the Passover; and it was about noon. He said to the Jews, "Here is your King!"

glad we don't live in Europe, huh?

Don't worry, if the rest of the Constitution can be weakened, redefined or overturned by executive order, legislative action, or the ruling of a court, I am sure we can find a way to get rid of that pesky "free speech" nonsense that is preventing the European socialism from taking full root here in the U.S.S.A.

Yes - the tea part would exist. People get fed up with gov't every couple of years.... in 1992 the Ross Perot party formed b/c of bad economic conditions.....also Pat Buchannan was mad that GHW Bush was not conservative enough during his first term and rallied the ultra conservatives to win a few primaries during the 92 election process.

Nothing racial about it but I guess some people just cant give others the benefit of the doubt.

And he still tried to free him.

Why stop?

But they shouted, "Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!"

"Shall I crucify your king?" Pilate asked.

Again, Rome could have cared less. He finally relented to stop a riot, not because he found him to be a traitor to Rome...

....hence the washing of the hands saying 'this is on you guys, not me'....

Santa was playing golf during this time btw. He had nothing to do with it.

Rome cared very much about insurrectionists, in fact that's why Pilate was in Jerusalem to begin with; not many years prior there were the Maccabees who were trying to force Rome out and Rome does not look kindly upon challengers, nor governors who allow challengers to go free.

....hence the washing of the hands saying 'this is on you guys, not me'....

It is too simplistic to allow the guilt to be washed from Pilate's hands just because he says so, in the end it was HE who had Jesus Crucified, and the charge was treason.
