I dunno if Please Play This Song on the Radio by NoFX counts as mainstream, but it did get airplay, and it was purposely designed to **** with DJs. My vote, though, goes to either It Wasn't Me by Shaggy, or anything by R. Kelly. I remember going on a field trip around the state in 8th grade to visit all the major colleges (we skipped USF and went to Busch Gardens, though), and they kept looping this mixtape on the bus's PA that consisted of like 1 Jennifer Lopez song, the Backstreet Boys song that was out at the moment, It Wasn't Me, and 3-5 R. Kelly songs, including I Wish, which I remember being not only one of the most ridiculous music videos ever, but also pretty much the only video they played on MTV2 at first after it took over The Box (which might've only existed in Florida, dunno). Anyway, I remember hearing It Wasn't me and the R. Kelly songs and thinking, holy ****, I feel gross listening to this. And I was just as relatively perverted and desensitized in 8th grade as I am now.

How many of these songs being listed got actual mainstream radio airplay?...I'm curious as to which of these songs made it onto the airwaves without getting FCC fines leveled at the stations lol :D...
All three of the songs I posted were radio hits.

Freek-A-Leek was #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was in a couple video games too.

Wait (The Whisper Song) reached #15 on the Hot 100.

What's Your Fantasy got to #21 on the Hot 100.

Plus all three had pretty popular music videos on MTV.

I remember The Box out in Iowa when I was visiting family there a long time ago.

Stinkfist was played pretty heavily on the radio and MTV but they changed the name of it to Track 01.
