letzgoterps
As long as he gets the players on Defense to produce, not be satisfied with being mediocre, and lights a fire under their a**es I'll be fine with this.
Redskinzfan30
I wouldn't mind a mixture of 3-4 4-3 but I don't want to go to a 3-4 permantly. I don't think we have the personel and we need to focus on offense this draft maybe we could switch next year but I'm getting way ahead of myself now. BigMike21
I'm kind of whatever about it. I think he will be a fine coach and I think we have some ok defensive players here. I'm more interested in what Shanahan does with our putrid offense. There was no defensive coordinator candidate out there that I can say I was "excited" about. Brandon Lloyd Christmas
wow, so were switching to a 3-4 defense? this is scary considering our defense was the only legit "cog" on our team. now everything will be brand new. were venturing into scary water people! redskin301
Hmm now the defensive puzzle begins to fill out a bit. Tim Krumrie will likely be the D-line coach. Either Jerry Gray or Slovik will coach the secondary. That leaves LB coach for Kirk Olivadotti or if we're really going to a 3-4 Haslett might look for someone with more experience in that system. What abouth mike wafful for Dline coach

respectgibbs
No MORE 15 YD CUSHIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the world of giving up big plays then. I hate that we're about to blow up a top 10 defense. Tides are turning on that side of the ball, and I don't like it.

Wyvern
I was unhappy to see how we quickly settled for Haslett. I think Jauron would have been better. There's nothing impressive about Haslett's accomplishments. Here's hoping he does better with all the talent he'd being entrusted with.

When he was DC, he did pretty good in Pittsburg. Everyone is looking to closely at this stints as HC, not DC. Sure he was probably running the defenses when HC, but he was also HC. It takes away from prep.

G.A.C.O.L.B.
It will be more like Gregg Williams and less like Blache - thats a good thing! Am I the only one who thinks Gregg Williams was/is a bit overrated? I mean he was a fine coordinator but his D's never really wowed me. And there were times where his D's were absolutely abused. Never really cut it when he had full control as a HC, and all the extra responsibilities that brings, but I'm happy to see him here controlling what he specialises in. Hail. Yeah, Gregg Williams failed as a HC too. As did Romeo Crennel. There have been a ton of GREAT coordinators who couldn't cut it as HC's so I don't really feel like it's a knock against him or anyother coordinator who failed at the top spot. For whatever reason. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdz0xYauffY Completely OT: I feel bad for Bradshaw. Here's this guy who was a four time SB-winning QB and a HOFer and he goes bald at the age of like 29. I'm sure he still got some quality tail but the baldness probably put a real damper on his game. G.A.C.O.L.B.
I hope he's talking out his butt, because Haslett is also famous for the 4-3. I think this whole thing of Haslett doing both a 3-4 and a 4-3 is a very positive thing. I think that it shows that Hasltt schemes around the talent he has. Utilizing their abilities to the fullest. Now THAT is a huge difference from Blache's stubborn, egomaniac ass. "I don't care what players I have. I run a certain scheme and the players better learn how to do that or they're screwed. Change it to fit their abilities? Ha! Do you know who I am?"
jivelikenice
Total clowns on the message board here. The majority of you are the same guys who preach build...build....and now we have a new coaching staff and GM running the show and people are bent out of shape that they are trying to build around a philosophy....People on this board would rather piggyback off of the same bland non scoring defense we've had and want the coaching staff to worry about the offense only....I'd rather we have a GM and coach build a TEAM in the image they're envisioning. If that includes a 3-4 then so be it...I for one am excited to see this play out....

stoney26
Let me ask all u junior gms on this board a question. Do you donkeys know what's better for the redskins more than Bruce Allen and mike shanahan? Seriously. Do you think we are going to the super bowl next year? If shanny and Allen thinks it's better for the redskins future I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Some of you idiots just like to ***** and moan about everything and it's usually the same idiots in every thread. Go get some ***** or something. Damn. ADF
I think this does point to the Redskins moving towards a 3-4 scheme eventually. I don't think they'll do it this season but we'll do it once we add the right pieces. We'll probably do it like Parcells did when he was coach of the Cowboys. It was a two year transition for them. Haslett was hired because he has experience in both schemes. Guys like Daniels, Griffin, Carter, and Fletcher are all on their way out within the next couple years anyway. They'll be replaced by players who fit the 3-4 scheme. If I'm right, it at least shows that Shanahan plans on being her for awhile and has long term goals in mind. No. Trying to implement a 3-4 defense on a team filled with 4-3 personnel is a Vinny type move. No one has all the facts. We don't even know if this report is totally true, but if it is, it's a pretty major change for our team. Something definitely worth all the whoopla going on in this thread.
