TK
PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release December 8, 2009 REDSKINS PLACE CLINTON PORTIS ON INJURED RESERVE LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have placed running back Clinton Portis on season-ending Injured Reserve with a concussion. Portis suffered the injury during a game at Atlanta on Nov. 8 and has missed the last four contests. “We felt at this juncture in the season, it was best to place Clinton on Injured Reserve,” Redskins Executive Vice President of Football Operations Vinny Cerrato said. “After consulting with our medical staff and other specialists, Clinton’s prognosis is good and we expect him to make a full recovery and return to the Redskins.” For the season, Portis rushed for 494 yards on 124 carries (4.0 avg.) and one touchdown. He also caught nine passes for 57 yards and a touchdown.

BKSkinsFan
The bigger question is, if next year is capped, is it going to hurt or help us when we cut him?

BnG4ever326
I think I'm the only one who thinks that Portis has AT LEAST one and maybe two more good years in him. I think it's good move. Let his body completely heal and be ready to perform next season.

BKSkinsFan
If Gibbs is still head coach, does Portis go on IR or try to get back ASAP? Seems like CP has had a lot of issues with Zorn.
addicted
Guys CP isn't going anywhere. If we see his buddy Vinny go then I think CP's a gonner but everyone should see that the owners favorite player is going to return next year if for nothing more then Snyders amusement. Burgold
Well, that answers one question. The staff like many of us from the outside thought that Clinton was not producing. This was a nice way to bench him and let him keep face. I like that they did this in a classy way. Portis deserves that even though he has been terrible this season. Stugein
Not surprised. No point in risking hurting him in terms of assisting us when he comes back or potential trade-value down the road if that is in the cards, on a lost season.

SirClintonPortis
I think Zorn is very happy because CP ain't forcing him to start his ineffective behind.
Mooka
The bigger question is, if next year is capped, is it going to hurt or help us when we cut him? We save about 4 million if we release Portis.
MattFancy
If that come from anyone other than Vinny it might have validity. If Vinny is still here next year, I believe CP will be too.

BALLz
On the chance that he does return next year, do we know if he will require surgery to fix the bone spurs in his ankles or is that just a heavy rehab injury?
flock53
Lets hope hes gone and we find a way to draft Javid Best and a plethora of Olineman. The same Best that sustained an equally ugly concussion? NO THANKS. Blount in the 2nd rd would be better.
