REDSKINS PLACE CLINTON PORTIS ON INJURED RESERVE

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have placed running back Clinton Portis on season-ending Injured Reserve with a concussion.

Portis suffered the injury during a game at Atlanta on Nov. 8 and has missed the last four contests.

“We felt at this juncture in the season, it was best to place Clinton on Injured Reserve,” Redskins Executive Vice President of Football Operations Vinny Cerrato said. “After consulting with our medical staff and other specialists, Clinton’s prognosis is good and we expect him to make a full recovery and return to the Redskins.”

For the season, Portis rushed for 494 yards on 124 carries (4.0 avg.) and one touchdown. He also caught nine passes for 57 yards and a touchdown.

Well, that answers one question. The staff like many of us from the outside thought that Clinton was not producing. This was a nice way to bench him and let him keep face. I like that they did this in a classy way. Portis deserves that even though he has been terrible this season.
