Mickalino
Because I've heard and seen the word before, and when I read the thread I pronounced it in my head, duh. there's no "duh" about it, because when you use the word "pronounce", it means that you've spoken......because, well, that's the meaning of pronounce. Bostic Hog
No different than people pronouncing New Orleans as "new-or-lens" vs "new-or-leens" I think. I've heard it both ways. Come on ..... its nahlens

So if I pull a random big word out of the dictionary and ask you how you would pronounce it, you would be unable to give me an answer in written form (like this thread) without actually saying it first? You couldn't think it in your head and write it out?
renaissance
Where I used to work they gave those plants out in lieu of a holiday bonus (the plants they gave away were left over from the annual board meeting). Of course the year I left they gave everyone $150 Visa cards. WTF?!?!?!?

GhostofSparta
Do ya'll change pronunciations depending on who you are talking too?Or am I just weird? I usually pronounce it the way whoever I'm talking to does, since I don't actually use the word ever. I usually use the 4 syllable version myself, but I change whenever I'm talking to someone who uses it the other way.

I was talking more in general, though I don't believe I could ever get poin-set-tee-a out. Ya gotta draw the line somewhere.
