BleedinBurgNGold
My thinking is that since TheDan and Vinny are such close friends and business partners, part of the reason Dan does not want to let him go is because he would feel like he's losing his best friend/racquetball partner. Here's what I want to know: What position within the Washington Redskins organization could TheDan demote Vinny to that would be respectful enough and also would gurantee Vinny has ZERO access to player personell? Let's try to keep our 'Janitor' replies to a minimum as tempting as it may be. Note: This would obviously imply that TheDan would hire a REAL GM. #98QBKiller
Isn't his strength supposedly evaluating college talent? How about something like director of college scouting? I think he's good at evaluating players for the most part but just poor at decision making, so I think that would be a decent job for him.
CliffBattles
He could have a position in the scouting department. The actual draft picks we've kept and used haven't been as bad as people think. The 2008 class looks pretty bad right now, but everyteam (except for the Ravens) have bad draft years. If you have three players on your roster contributing in four years from a particular draft, it was a really good one. He sucks at being a GM, because he never had a strategy on building a team and was awful in trades, picking up free agents, and letting certain players go. Stew
He has an eye for late round talent. He picked T.O. late, Horton, Mitchell, among others. He could be a scout, especially for our late round picks.

BleedinBurgNGold
I kinda like the Director of College scouting Idea. Still makes me nervous knowing he has influence over any potential prospects though. I guess as long as he isn't making the final decision its ok
Redskins Anonymous
I would like to see Vinny as a janitor. He is quite qualified as he spent his time in San Francisco buffing Bill Walsh's Lombardi Trophies. That is about his only input into the 49ers championship rings that he parades around. NewCliche21
Tackling dummy? No, but seriously, as has been stated he is great at talent evaluation in later rounds. Keep him at the college level.

Horatio
Isn't his strength supposedly evaluating college talent? How about something like director of college scouting? Nope, that's why the 49ers started to suck in 1999 and haven't gotten their mojo back since. Vinny was a scout up until 1997, which was the first draft he had complete responsibility for. He did NOT draft Terrell Owens. He DID draft Jim Druckenmiller, however. The 49ers thought so much of his scouting that they fired him after the 1998 season. His supposed close ties to Shanahan and other former 49er coaches/staffers didn't help him land a job in 2001 after Marty fired him...that's why Vinny was answering emails at ESPN that year. Someone else said tackling dummy. That's an insult...to the tackling dummy!

Shilsu
Just replace Mark Shapiro with Vinny Cerrato at Six Flags. That's the only reason Snyder feels like he owes Cerrato the GM position.

HailGreen28
In his current line of work: Scout. Not director or in charge of anything or anybody. Outside his current line of work. Primary spokesperson / press representative of the Washington Redskins. Next best thing to someone smart like Belichick or Gibbs, who would say nothing at all of importance: Would be someone like Vinny who based on recent press interviews also would say nothing of importance.
