News to me. I didn't see the second one, can you hit me a link?

You are seriously trying to put MySpace ahead of Facebook using the spamming argument. Really?...really....

Dude, the scams and viruses on Facebook are insane, and off the charts.

They don't even compare with myspace in that regard.

I've never seen any scams or viruses on Facebook. I used to get friend requests all the time from porn site things on MySpace.

Someone on here even posted one a few days back, you get a message about someone posting a video of you and when you click it it gives you a virus.

I'm not a member of any of these sites, nor have I been in the past. Well, I joined facebook under the pressure of some of my peers from college but I logged in one time after the initial sign up. That was about a week after I signed up and there were a bunch of friend requests and a bunch of **** that I generally just didn't want to deal with so I deleted it immediately.

There's scams and viruses on every website. Hell even ES has spammers. But many of them originated with Myspace.

But the ones on myspace are OBVIOUS.

You get a friend request from a super-hot girl, wearing almost nothing, or slutty clothes, you go to her profile, and it's got ONE picture of her, the rest of her profile is bland, or obviously fake details like "I'm here to meet all kinds of guys, and I'm ready to party with you" etc etc etc.

Her only friend is Tom, or a bunch of horny guys who keep commenting, "Hey, what's up"

Her message to you says she just got into town and is looking for a good time, and she loves your profile and thinks you're perfect for her.....etc, etc, etc

You fall for that, and you deserve it - but the ones on Facebook are a 1000 times more tricky.

Facebook is scary as hell.....it's now suggesting people that I may know, and the only way FB would know that I know these people, is if they had access to my personal emails, because they're not people who I have common friends with. It is apparently extracting my email contacts from my personal email account, which aint right. That's private info. This must have happened when I clicked on one of those ridiculous, "innocent-looking" Apps

**** Facebook.

That's not what it does...it just takes people of similar demographics/similar registration data and if you're in the same network it suggests people you may know. There's no conspiracy here. The "People You May Know" has always been there and sometimes it's accurate, other times it isn't. It has little to do with common friends. LOL, I Swear sometimes...

facebook looks at all the info you put there- like what school you went to, your hometown, etc....to figure out who you might know

no, it's definitely not coming from there.

for example, one person i just met on the street, literally, and we ended up emailing each other, and now FB keeps popping up her profile, suggesting I might know her......they could have only gotten that from my personal emails.

And how would they get into your email without your password. Are they really going to waste time hacking into everyone's accounts to serve a purporse they can do by just comparing data.

Also, if she's tried to look at you Facebook it'll suggest you might know her.

It's the only explanation......there's nothing on my facebook profile that would connect me to her......we now live about 800 miles from each other, our hometown, or current town are different, we didn't go to the same school, there's absolutely nothing in common - except that I met her on the street, got her email, and we contacted each other that way, but never on facebook.
