Tulane Skins Fan Posted April 20, 2009 Share Posted April 20, 2009 I saw this show on the Tsunami on History channel this weekend, and they said that the tsunami was caused by this 9.something earthquake in the Indian Ocean. What happened was, one plate was pushing into and under another large tectonic plate... something called subduction. Anyway, they said that the shift in the plates in the earthquake that caused the tsunami was so large that it actually slowed the earth's rotation making the day longer... in microseconds, but still cool.
