Touchdown Redskins
I love how moving from the 2nd overall pick to the 1st overall pick requires giving up said 2nd overall pick AND a mid second rounder. The chart is not subjective enough for my liking. But the pros use it, so what do I know?

Forehead
Queue the people talking about the trade chart being outdated, myself being one of them, at least to some degree. But I'll play along. I would gladly trade the equivalent of our 1st rounder for Roy Williams, meaning I'd trade our #13 overall to Detroit for the picks they got from Dallas in the Roy Williams trade, #20, #84, and #180 if I have this figured right. We'd technically be losing value, according to this chart, as #13 is worth 1,150 points and the 3 we'd get in return would be worth 1,039.4, but I'm not too worried about losing a few value points in the interest of quantity. That trade would get us to 6 picks in the draft, a #1, #3, #3, #5, #6, #6. I've been looking at many mock drafts, and there are plenty of linebackers that we could use (Spikes, Curry, Lauranatis) falling to #20 in all of them. There are also a number of DT falling that low (Jerry, Marks, etc.) and occasionally, an OT. I think this would work out just fine.
Redskins Diehard
Great idea. Now who is going to make the chart that assigns points to all our players under contract next year? That is the only way to eliminate the other half of the stupid trade scenario threads! Like the ones that suggest trading Carlos Rogers for a 2nd and 4th. What we end up getting is basically and unknown entity of a 2nd round CB, and then a 4th rounder to address another need.

RiggosMohawk
During the 08 draft PFT posted an updated chart that, if memory serves correctly, the Eagles were following. The big update is it greatly reduced the deltas between each of the top 10 picks. Their search function didn't unearth it; however I'm sure somebody can resurrect it. Skins-Canes-Mounties
I don't put too much faith into the chart either. I would gladly trade #1 overall for nearly every pick in the third and fourth rounds.
Rypien1191
Yeah, pick #1 = 3000, and pick #65-78 = 3000. I think I'd rather draft 14 possible Tom Bradys than ONE Jamarcus Russell. No way we would ever get the first two picks in the 2nd for our #13 either.
BigMike619
Look, I wouldnt start a draft day thread to begin with but I feel stupid anyways. Commander_N_Chief
Look, I wouldnt start a draft day thread to begin with but I feel stupid anyways. I cant understand that chart for anything.what does the 3,000 mean by the number 1 pick? and so forth... Let me field this one for you BM: 1. 3000 = The number one pick is worth 3000 pts persay. So in order to look up what the fair trade value of that pick is you would consult the chart. Example: You have the #1 pick which is worth 3000 (note these are not the correct values just an example) now you want to trade down. Someone has the #2 pick which is worth 2200. They'd have to give you an extra draft pick closely valued to the difference of 800 points in order to equal your 3000 point draft value. 1. "your draft position" | 3000 "value or points of that position"
BigMike619
that just summed it up perfectly. so if i trade away the #1 pick i want to make sure i get an equal sum of 3000 with the picks i get from you. thanks man!!

NeueRedskinWelle
I understand the point system, about how if you want pick #X, you need to give up #Y and #Z, etc. But who, or what, came up with the numbers? I can picture a large computer at the NFL HQs just plugging away numbers and magically coming up with this chart... but that can't be right, can it?
