Ray Brown
i see frerotte being like a todd collins, someone who won't have to win games, just don't lose them. if he can manage the game the vikes should be okay.
skin_finatic
You guys laugh all you want at Gus. I guarentee you that guy has some mad money in the bank. whats your point? We can still criticize him. One of the worst rappers in history, Soulja Boy, has millions of dollars too, but I still laugh or criticize his god awful rap music and how he helped kill hip hop. Cowboy8467
I just picked him up in my fantasy league. He has to do better than Carson Palmer. :rotflmao:So was that you that tried to trade me Carson Palmer for Matt Cassel the other day?
MonkFan8
He needs to throw about 5 good passes throughout the entire game. AP will do the rest.
slogriff
I mentioned this in the ATN thread, but it bears repeating. Gus Frerotte is really an amazing story. Frerotte has STARTED for SEVEN different NFL teams. Has any other quarterback in NFL history started for more than 7 NFL teams? The kneejerk reaction to seeing his name is to bring up the heatbutt incident, but he had some decent starts for the Redskins as a fallback option when it became clear that Heath Shuler couldn't play in the NFL. He actually made the Pro Bowl as a Redskin in 1996. He's managed to carve out a 15 year career as an NFL quarterback from the humble beginnings as a 7th round afterthought. Here are the 7 different NFL teams he's started for: Redskins Lions Broncos Bengals Vikings Dolphins Rams So a challenge to you. Name another quarterback in NFL history who STARTED for 7 or more different NFL teams. I can't think of any. Chris Chandler started for 7 teams if you differentiate between the STL Rams and LA Rams. Otherwise, played on 8 teams starting for 6. In chronological order (latest to earliest): STL Rams CHI Bears ATL Falcons HOU Oilers LA Rams PHX Cardinals TB Bucs IND Colts - non-starter
BuddyLeeGhostHunter
:rotflmao:So was that you that tried to trade me Carson Palmer for Matt Cassel the other day? Effin' Palmer has blown me two leads. I hate that guy right now.
Dan T.
Is that something to be proud of? What that says is that you were either good enough for teams to keep taking chances on you but not good enough to stick around (Jeff George) or you were never the first option and were brought in to take over for whoever was supposed to be the man (Gus Frerotte). A 15-year career as an NFL quarterback, after being drafted as a 7th round longshot? He's a football survivor. Absolutely that is something to be proud of. Chris Chandler started for 7 teams if you differentiate between the STL Rams and LA Rams. Otherwise, played on 8 teams starting for 6.In chronological order (latest to earliest): STL Rams CHI Bears ATL Falcons HOU Oilers LA Rams PHX Cardinals TB Bucs IND Colts - non-starter Nice pull. Close, but doesn't beat Frerrotte. Someone mentioned Garcia. Played -and started - for 5 teams: Niners Browns Lions Eagles Bucs
Dan T.
Going back a little ways I thought of Steve DeBerg, classic journeyman QB. He played - and started for - "only" 6 teams: Niners Denver Tampa KC Miami Atlanta

Califan007 The Constipated
Garcia comes to mind, but he's not even close. I can't even think of a QB who PLAYED for 7 different teams, much less started. Jeff George, maybe? lol...Colts, Falcons, Vikings, Redskins...any others? Oldskool
If Ferotte is accurate, this team will be in the Superbowl. He's not accurate at all. In 8 games (not starts) last year, he threw 11 INT's in Scott Linehan's ball control offense with the Rams. This basically is going with the old guy that may kill your team versus the young guy who can't cut it and will kill your team.
MikeB
Per ESPN: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3593304 He could do very well there this year. I would be happy for him, unless he plays the Skins that is.

Big Blue Joe
If Ferotte is accurate, this team will be in the Superbowl. That's crazy talk. The Vikings pass defense is not even close to being as good as their run defense.

He got into the end of 2 blowout games (35-0 & 40-7) just to kneel down with the football 7 times. In their last game of the season he actually finished the game by throwing 2 of 3 and 1 TD. Gus still seems to be standing alone at starting for 7 teams.

Otherwise, played on 8 teams starting for 6.In chronological order (latest to earliest): STL Rams CHI Bears ATL Falcons HOU Oilers LA Rams PHX Cardinals TB Bucs IND Colts - non-starter Pro Football Reference.com shows Chandler as starting some for the Colts his first 2 years in the league, 13 starts in 1988 and 3 in 1989: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/ChanCh00.htm?redir But NFL.com shows he didn't: http://www.nfl.com/players/chrischandler/profile?id=CHA222838 :whoknows: His Wiki entry claims he's the only QB to start for eight teams. Whoever wrote that is counting the St. Louis Rams and the L.A. Rams as separate franchises, and that he started in Indy. But if you count the Rams as a single franchise, then Gus will tie Chandler for being a starting quarterback on the most NFL teams with 7. Either way, congrats to Gus.
