SantanaClaus89
Read 'em and weep, Brunell lovers... http://blog.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/ Coach Gibbs just said he told the QBs and that Todd, based on his play this preseason, is the No. 2 QB. Brunell is No. 3.
Soup
Wow a 3 million dollar 3rd string QB that has to be a record.
skinfan2k
most likely brunell will be inactive for most of the games

TXREDSKINS44
Not really surprised with this move, especially the way Collins played in the preseason.
SantanaClaus89
Yes.. he's probably looked at by the team as being paid for being a teacher more than a player now... The thought of him not getting a single snap this entire season is music to my ears and bestills my heart.
DixieFlatline
Wow a 3 million dollar 3rd string QB that has to be a record. I thought Brunell re-worked his contract and it was less than that now.

grego
i heard on 980 yesterday that brunell counts for 1.5 mil and collins 1 mill against the cap. still alot, but not as bad as 3 mil.
Redshu
The best thing that ever happened to Brunell is having to take Gibbs to the emergency room. That guy is serviceable, but damn is he expensive. To his credit though, he's a team guy and has been an intrigual part in the Campbells progression as a QB. RFK Lives
Hmmm, not surprising I guess but I thought Gibbs would go back to the game time experience of Brunell and how it is like having a coach on the field. Collins does have the more lively arm, at least in August.

ntotoro
I thought Brunell re-worked his contract and it was less than that now. He did. It basically became a one-year deal, that way he can be gone in one way or another for next season and not sit on the books for anything.
RonJeremy
Hopfully #2 or #3 never have to touch the field other than warm-ups...otherwise.....whoopdee feakin' do!!!
DCsportsfan53
Attn: Geniuses As has been noted all offseason, Brunell has completely redone his contract and is now making the vet minimum for a player with his tenure in the league. Thank you for playing the "***** about nothing" game, try again next time.
USS Redskins
Is it too late to cut both of them and get back ups who can, a: throw the ball more than 10 yards, b: actually have started a game since 1997 and c: not suck. I just realized that if there was some way to genetically combine Brunell and Collins, then the Skins would have a decent #2. His name could be Brunellins or Collinell. Stadium-Armory
Its good to see JG make a decision with is brain and not with his heart. That being said, they should have traded Brunell, and developed Casey Bramlet as #3. Having an ancient, expensive, inactive insuarance policy at #3 is a luxury you can't afford in today's NFL. IMO. Why do you think Gibbs made a decision "with his brain" regarding Brunell but not regarding Bramlett? Wasn't he cut by the QB-starved Falcons as well? Maybe, just maybe, being younger than Brunell was the only thing he had over Brunell...
jnhay
I don't think it'll be that hard for Brunell to get the backup job back. If Collins struggles in a game(hopefully we won't see him), we could easily see Brunell in the next. Congratulations need to go out to Collins for playing just about as good as could have been expected in the preseason.

Repeat after me, Brunell is essentially on a one year, vet min deal and will not count against our cap next year should he retire. How does that make him expensive? What did Bramlet show that says he deserved the #3 spot? He got cut by his next team after us too, you know, and isn't on a roster right now. Mania
Thank God, although I appreciate what he did in 2005, it was apparent that that was his last hurrah as he was horrid last season.
