Chachie
UFC 95 picks that will undoubtedly be wrong because Chachie made them: Josh Koscheck vs. Paulo Thiago: Kos. Demian Maia vs. Chael Sonnen: Maia. Nate Marquardt vs. Wilson Gouviea: I'm more familiar with Nate but I've seen Wilson win one and lose one.. Tough call here. Gouveia? Dan Hardy vs. Rory Markham: Markham only has one speed... forward. This works for him and against him. I don't know Dan Hardy so I'm gonna go with the familiar. Rory Markham. Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Stevenson: Joe Daddy has reached his pinnacle and found out he doesn't rate top-fighter status. Diego by TKO. #98QBKiller
Just reading the Andre Carter interview in the Stadium ----------- You mentioned your offseason program. What kind of workouts do you do to get yourself ready for the first day of camp? “Actually, I’m one of those guys that will do mixed martial arts,” Carter said. “It’s a combination of Muay Thai, kickboxing and boxing itself to work on my hand-eye coordination. It’s one of those workouts that’s really challenging because you think you’re conditioned, but this is a whole different level. You’re just moving nonstop, at a rapid pace, and moving different body parts. Full interview here: http://www.homermcfanboy.com/2009/02/13/hey-mister-carter/ --------- I remember him talking about that in an interview last year too. Santana's also into MMA training in the offseason. Also, Junior Dos Santo's opponent that we were talking about looks like the big Russian from Rocky 4: http://www.sherdog.com/pictures/gallery/fighter/f_15063/31696/

StillUnknown
koscheck might've just become a gatekeeper with one punch (unless he drops to 155)
Sebowski
koscheck might've just become a gatekeeper with one punch (unless he drops to 155) I think that was a bad stoppage. I have seen worse, but it should not have been stopped. Kos was recovering and his instincts were good. He threw up a guard. He could have grabbed a leg until he shook the cob webs out. StillUnknown
Maia is the best thing going for MMA bjj right now, i think he has the best shot at beating Anderson (not saying he would though)

Classic. i don't think he has to worry about hurting anyone, judging from his previous fights, his ground n pound wouldn't bust a grape on a sidenote, Marquardt beat the hell outta Gouveia. that finishing sequence was thing of absolute beauty

Opiate-Zeo
I dont think I've seen so many fight on one night. Hell we only had 2 fights get outta the first. Yeah, I think we saw the entire undercard because every fight ended early. Personally, I agree with the Kos fight ending. He was out when the hook landed, and would have just been pounded out had the fight not been stopped. Maia is one of my favorite fighters right now, his BJJ is so slick. Overall, one of the better cards so far.

He was out when the hook landed, and would have just been pounded out had the fight not been stopped. Although I'm generally in agreement that it wasn't a "bad" stoppage (I even said out loud "Omigod! It's over!" as SOON as the upper cut landed) I thought Kos showed good instincts by getting his head to stop rolling on it's pivot and getting his legs up right away. I may be wrong but I think we saw 2 other similar occasions last night where the same thing happened but the downed fighter was allowed to get pounded out or fight out. Kos was not. I'm not making any ethical calls here but I think he should have had a chance at least to try. I think he wanted that overhand right so bad he left himself wide open for things. He's got the physical part down of his stand-up game, now it's time to think like a boxer. Nothing like a FREE night of KOs and subs with a surprisingly spirited main event. :applause: Edited February 22, 2009 by Chachie

Sebowski
I watched the main event again with the sound off at my bar. Watching it without Rogan kissing Diego's ass (I'm a huge Rogan fan btw) and without the exctiement of wondering what is going to happen, it was a much closer fight than I thought. Stevenson might have won rounds 1 and 3. Diego backpedaled the entire time. He may have been throwing more diverse attacks, but he wasn;t landing much. He only really hit Joe a few times in the first. One was that big uppercut. Joe on the other hand was controlling the octagon and landing more punches. I would love to see some stats on this fight. StillUnknown
stevenson looked to me to be perfectly content with not being finished. i don't think he threw a single kick all fight. his punches were predictable as hell. diego was more aggressive in his striking. i was kinda of disappointed in Joe, he seemed more concerned with getting the crowd into the match than actually trying to win the fight
