This is what happens when the password you choose is ABCD1234 or something dumb like that.

So should I change my password? It's the one from Spaceballs....

Ebay is so filled with scammers. If I end up going to the Cowboys game, I'm going to get the tickets from somewhere other than ebay...

It really is sad because people like this seller give Ebay a bad name. Im a big ebayer and buy tons of things that i dont find elsewhere or dont feel like haggling with at a mall/store for. Ebay really is extremely useful 99% of the time. I sell random stuff as well that i dont really need or dont want including tickets for games here and there.

Mark is right though...just look into the seller as much as you can and use common judgement. If they dont accept paypal dont make the transaction. People say meeting in person is great or whatever but paypal generates an Instant payment reciept which is the most useful tool you can have. All in all I never thought i'd find ebay as usefull as i have.

I'd be shocked if this wasn't a hijacked account:

EDIT:

Seller is selling tix in 311, but posts a pic from 310. He says his seats are on the 35, but they're actually on the 20. What a guy!

I guess there are cheaters on both coasts...

Craigslist.com -- a member asked me about this listing.

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/tix/581720553.html

I am sure it is a scam.

Clues: They are 50 yard line. He also capitalizes every word, which is incorrect punctuation - scammers love incorrect punctuation.

The kicker was his reply to the member via email:

i am sorry but i can't tell you the seats# for security reasons,we can have a The only way we can make a deal is trough eBay,in order to have a safe transaction for both of us.You will have to pay 50% of amount to eBay and they will hold the payment until the hard tickets are in your hands. If this work for you just let me know your eBay id and full name, address where the tickets must be shipped so we can proceed. eBay will send you an invoice asap and they will let you know what you have to do.

Thanksdeal for 2200$ for two tickets

eBay will not hold anything, and the window to file a claim will be closed by the time a buyer realizes he's been cheated. I bet this guy lives in Romania.

There is no problem with heypenny111. MTH has taken his name off the "list"....still needs to take off in post #112 & #114

Hey MTH, what was the beef with heypenny111? I just got some tickets from this guy. I see his tickets almost every year on ebay and they are the same ones....section 141 or so. I don't think he is a scammer.

If you really don't mind sitting in obstructed view seats, you don't need to buy them from con artists on eBay. You can buy them directly from the Redskins today for $320 for each season ticket package. They are available to the general public. Call the Redskins ticket office at 301 276-6050.

I remember that seller. I believe he is a con artist. I believe he's the same guy as the other sellers listed there. I surmised this because the listings were all the same -- same fonts, same wording, same colors, etc. If he's selling in 141, that's fine, as long as you get your tickets. But if he's selling OV, he says the same thing - that he has personally sat in the seats and that 98% of the field is unobstructed, and this seems to be true on dozens of OV seats that he sells under a dozen or so different seller accounts. He does it to create false value and maximize his profits.

I would not buy from him. But that's just me.

I believe you especially with the comment "Do not use the "Ask the seller a question" feature" then gives a Yahoo account.

If he is not a scammer though somebody just got a hell of a deal (2 season tix for $162, sect 222 row 3).

It reminds me of the old saying if it sounds too good to be true it is (at least it is most of the time).

This guy is selling in 327 which is mid corner, but he puts up a pic from 325, which is sidelines. After he cheats you and you leave bad feedback, he leaves retaliatory feedback. What a guy!

I love how he says that "you don't have to wait the 15-20 years, you can own yours now!" In the 300 level you can buy season tickets at any time. Who is he fooling?

There's a lot of shady sellers on eBay. That's one thing. But it's the outright blatant lies that get to me, as well as the hijacked accounts that appear legit, even to seasoned eBayers. And I sit there and watch, and I see innocent people getting taken for hundreds, even thousands of dollars (see the first auction in this thread). I agree it's none of my business, but it's hard for me to just stand by and watch the thieves at work. So if the thread bothers some people, please ignore it.

Interestingly, I found the following auction this morning.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110005081885&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3D110005081885%26fvi%3D1

This seller is the same seller that is trying to sell all the other bad seats. Here's the new list of his seller accounts:

Ticketsexpress1

Besttix4you

Tixxexpress

Gametix21

gametickets4u

goodiestickets

redccc

arintercom

They are all the same seller. The interesting thing is, in this new auction, for the first time, the seller does NOT say he has "personally sat in these seats, and the obstruction is minamal (sic)".

The timing of this edited listing seems to coincide with Sammy's comment. Coincidence?

...because all three of them say the same thing in the same font:

"The "Limitation" in these particular seats is minimal, and having personally sat in these seats, I can assure you ...."

The first two "sellers" have over a dozen listings each saying the same thing. The third seller wants face x 10 for his OV tickets to see the Cowboys. This one listing would cover his entire season ticket cost.

This guy is a professional OV ticket broker. He apparently buys them up from the Redskins directly and then sells them on eBay at grossly inflated prices. He prefers to sell in the spring and summer so that his buyers don't really know what they're buying until months later - when it's too late to leave bad feedback. He uses a dozen seller accounts to minimize his exposure. He's been doing it for years. Most of his victims are probably visiting fans.

The guy has at least 30 OV listings up right now and he's adding more listings as I type this. He's personally sat in all of them? HAHAhahhah. Right.

The truth is, he probably hasn't sat in any of these 30 pairs of seats, and the truth is, the view will suck. The view will be much worse than what he claims, and the buyer will have no recourse.

Here's the list of his current seller accounts, although the last one may just be a copy cat:

Thanks for the heads up Mark. Some people are just jerks.

Also, can't you report that to EBay? I've only done a small amount of purchasing on ebay, but I thought there was a way to report people like this.

MTH, I really do not think heypenny111 is related to the others. His listings look no way like the three you present.

http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Redskins-One-HALF-Season-Tix-LOWERS-GREEN-Parking_W0QQitemZ160236858693QQihZ006QQcategoryZ16122QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

His listings are quite plain looking with pretty straight forward wording.

Note: Heypenny111 is no longer part of the "list".

Okay, you're probably right, he may not be. I added him to the list based on his listing two years ago. It may be that he just can't type or write, so he copied the other seller's text into his own listing. Reading his text, this is probably what happened.

zinger62 may be a copycat as well.

edit: I just noticed a member named heypenny111 in this thread. Interesting.

I've removed him from the list.

MTH, you unfairly listed me a bad seller yet you did NO due diligence, you ignored my feedback, you failed to contact me first, and you insulted me further in your reply to Xavmit. Please check the facts first before you level slanderous charges. Your subsequent retraction and apology are appreciated.

Hey Heypenny,

As you can see, I already corrected the entry before you posted above.

I reported the listing as related to the others because it was related to the others. It's pretty obvious you copied the text from another listing and pasted it in your own, right (even if this was two years ago)? So that's what caused the confusion.

Did you know that's considered text theft on eBay?

I apologize for the confusion.

MTH, Isn't it unwise to be a sanctimonious egotist who speaks out of both sides of his mouth? You said you removed me from you "list" and you apologized. Then you summarily accuse me again without any proof. You neglect to mention I have a perfect 100 % feedback score. I give a lot more credence to very satisfied buyers' comments than your own. Are you too proud to admit that you are wrong here? Why not be honest?

MTH, what might seem obvious to you is obscure to an objective reader. In crafting listings, I have never lifted or stolen in either piece meal or wholesale fashion anyone elses work-- whether 2 years ago or ever. That is not to say I have not reviewed others' listings for good ideas but I am NOT a thief or plagerist as you charge. By the same token, I think few of us ever have a unique or original idea.

In the words of Rodney King, why can't we all just get along? I hope this puts an end to this unfortunate mistake on your part so that we can move on to bigger and better things like Skins' 2008 campaign and perhaps the playoffs this season.

If I listed you on there, it was because it looked like the same text as the other seller - and the description, therefore, appeared to be misleading. However, we're talking about a listing that ended two years ago, so I can't show you what I mean directly. But you can see zinger62's listing as an example of this.

You claim you don't copy other text. But in two of your own listings which ended today, you have two different fonts. The first four lines and the second four lines are different fonts. The font suddenly changes for no obvious reason. This is typical of text that has been copied from other listings.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160236858693&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3D160236858693%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1

MARK, I hope this finally gets through to you. In one of your posts, you definitively but wrongly refer to me as a con artist who has cheated many different people. I called you to account for this falsehood and you sorta somewhat but begrudgingly gave a half-ass apology.

Now you fault me for "copying" from my own listing. I did not "copy" from anyone elses listing. I save and use templates. Why reinvent the wheel? What's wrong with that? You claim I had 2 listings end today. Please check your facts. Only 1 ended today. Please stop being misleading. Please stop trying to find a crime in everything petty. I am really tired of correcting you.

If you would like to say anything else about this, why not quote all the positive buyer feedback comments about my transactions. They are accurate. Your outdated charges are not.

I've already admitted I don't think you're the seller with all those accounts.

Okay, you had a listing end May 1 and another end on May 10th. What does that have to do with this?

The issue is your listing of TWO YEARS AGO. The similarity between your listing and the others was obvious. Others have read the post and your listing which was back in July of 2006 and apparently nobody saw anything to question the link (via the similar text) between you and the other accounts.

It's gone now. Two years have passed. I can't show you what I meant. Who knows? Maybe I was completely off base here. I can't go back in a time machine and pull that listing up.

You're not the guy, okay? My bad.

I don't see anything productive coming out of this continued discussion, do you? You can have the final word.

Take care.
