tex
Filled up this morning at 2.539 for 89 oct. Drove by the same station on the way home and noticed the price had risen to 2.679 for the same fuel. That works out to around 80 clams a week just going to and from work 5 days a week. NYSkins1
Atlanta used to have the lowest gas prices in the country. Now it's $2.69 near my school (really affluent area) and $2.51 or so where I normally get it.

gbear
Skins 24, Well gas is expected to top $3 a gallon by labor day according to one report on the radio this morning, so it's not like people saying it feels like gas is as expensive as it has ever been are far off. The hard part will be the heating bills this winter.

Predicto
Originally posted by OaktonSkins/BushFan Well, in the People's Republic of California, gas is as high as - gulp - $4.09/gallon!! In the DC area it's on a steady clmb to $3/gallon. So, with all of these state budget surplus' (thanks in part to Bushenomics), why not - atleast temporarily - offer taxpayers a reprieve from out of control gasoline taxes and surcharges? Case in point, the People's Republic of Maryland with a $1B surplus. Instead of refunding to exploited and abused taxpayers, the Left in MD will probably seek to waste this surplus on worthless socialist enterprises. Fraud, Waste, and Abuse!! Well, seeing as how I live in the very heart of the People's Republic of California and have not seen prices anywhere that are even remotely like $4 a gallon, I question your information. I paid $2.74 yesterday.

88Comrade2000
Gas Station near my house was $2.39 on Sunday! Yesterday it was $2.69. today it was $2.64. Damn why didn't I fill my tank on Sunday.
DieselPwr44
Why has there been little to no protest about the ridiculous rise in gas prices? I remember the last time fuel prices rose sharply. There were independant truckers storming Washington and consumers were in an uproar. Have most people given up?? Heck, you don't even see anyone in Congress even commenting on this subject and it's hardly in the news. What gives??
Skins24
It's too expensive to drive to any protests Besides, there is absolutely no reason to think any protest of any kind would even remotely work.

I've seen 19 year-old males on crotch rockets drive just a poorly as a 50 year-old woman in a Trailblazer. We have a BMW and a Jeep Wrangler. Neither of which has enough space to carry things if you have children. I think a lot of the people who complain about SUV's do so out of envy. Thiebear
Definately can go Deisel but yes if you need room for 6 due to your lack of "Protection" then its a problem... MY little CRV will not hold 3 baby seats (as example).. you need a passport or 6 more inches of space to get the 3rd one in there....

Ok, there are a handful of stations on top of high mountain passes that are charging $3.39. That's the same as it ever was. When you are the only gas for 25 miles at the top of the Sierras, you can charge anything. The rest of that site shows that in general the "People's Republic of California" is really any different than anywhere else. The oil companies are screwing us over, pure and simple. Predicto
A minivan holds more passengers and more stuff than an SUV. It gets better gas mileage than an SUV. It rides smoother than an SUV. It costs a helluva lot less than an SUV. What's really funny is that SUVs are sold as the way for folks to go on offroad adventures. 95 percent of SUV owners never go offroad, and the ones that do had better be careful because SUVs are unsafe off road due to their propensity to roll over. As far as I can tell, SUVs are one of the great marketing scams of all time. Detroit used Toby Keith style ads to convince men that overpriced inefficient chrome mountains were macho and would get you chicks. America swallowed it, hook line and sinker. And here we are now. And here we are now. waawaawaa. Stop your whining. SOME minivans get better gas milages than SOME SUVs. My SUV cost $16k brand new. Find a minivan that cheap. A minivan cannot carry as much people and cargo as a Suburban SUVs are unsafe off road because they roll over? Lets see how a Toyota Corolla does on the Rubicon Trail on a 35degree incline. Are you part of the growing trend of people who are upset they don't own a SUV? Why not bash Sports cars? They can't carry as much as a minivan. They cost more than minivans. bla bla bla. You, and people who harbor the same beliefs as you, need to realize something: SUVs are not the problem. People who are not able to handle them are the problem.
