  1. Oh Hell I had forgotten all about that guy. This is just so weird, I don't know "my team" and that's so unusual for me. Another addition when he is healthy, cool. Like I found another Christmas present behind the tree.
  2. I feel so blind lucky. I was a hardcore for decades. Then after so much losing with no end in sight in a league where in most years we knew who was in the Finals before the first ball was in play I checked out on the NBA several years ago. It had become pro-wrestling and I had little interest. I saw they traded Westbrook for some names, I just figured they were bodies as they always have warm bodies. Then I started to pay attention after the fast start. I turn on "my team" and knew only a few names. I watched a Wizards team playing lock down defense. Am I really seeing this? Suddenly and without notice the team I abandoned is actually not only good but fun to watch. This came out of nowhere and I'm still learning the players.
  3. This has been my soapbox for decades. Wes was great, one of my favorites, but the star of that team was Elvin Hayes, the most underrated hero in DC sports history. I remember going to Ticketmaster to procure playoff tickets at that time. I remember a guy getting his tickets and yelling "I'm going to see EEEEEEE!". He didn't mention Wes, he said E and it was what we were all thinking at the time.
  4. But the play does not stop today. We see forward progress stopped all the time, no whistle, then the teammates push the pile into the end zone. This just wasn't the case 20 years ago, back is stopped and whistle blew before the big shove. This was going to be the last part of the post above. The announcers constantly give the back credit for such power. But the power was suppled by two 300 pound lineman.
  5. Short yardage is so different now. The refs don't blow the play dead like they used to, which allows OL to push the pile into the end zone. Not a fan of this really, they don't give the defense much of a chance.
  6. I no longer watch this team, I follow them on the Red Zone Channel. But I had to go back and watch after seeing what they did. This is the great thing about sports, you never really know what's going to happen and few saw this coming. I'm happy for Taylor. He is most definitely not the long term answer but he is a very valuable backup and I hope they keep him for a long time. That drive was one for the ages, reminded me of the old Gibbs teams. Fun to watch even though I knew the result.
  7. That was my first thought. He needed this offseason to learn how to play the position, I totally disagree that he was playing "well". He was average and that's not good enough for a player this defense was supposed to be built around. Now he will be spending his offseason rehabilitating from a very bad injury and who knows what he will be like when he is healthy.
  8. Thanks. So do you think he has a shot to win the job? I mean it's not exactly settled from what I can see.
  9. Seems like every year I wish Maryland had better shooters and this year is no exception. Even their "shooters" like Wiggins or Jake Laymen were very inconsistent. But I do love the center, have a bit of a concern that like with Cowan his height may prevent him from finishing one the BIG season begins.
  10. Casual hockey fan, tell me more about the goalie who threw a shut out in his first NHL start. Did I hear that he was a big prospect but he was also 25? How did that happen?
  11. The sad part is we all know what will happen. Either they overpay big time for an up and down player which will destroy their ability to build the roster or they let him go via trade or free agency and he absolutely blows up for another team.
  12. If you could show posts of yours promoting Herbert at #2 before the draft then you have the right to continue down this road. But I highly doubt you had the position pre-draft. I'm as big of a "Must Have a Franchise QB" guy as there is. But you can't just say drafting a defensive player over a QB, any QB, is always a mistake. Did the Giants make a mistake when they drafted LT at 2? Would the Browns be better off had they taken Tribisky over Miles Garrett?
  13. I voiced this concern early in his rookie season. At OSU he blew off the line and beat the tackle to the edge constantly. It's in a whole lot of his highlight plays. This is the go-to move for most every great pass rushing DE. Chase has been trying to get the edge all season, and he is constantly run behind the QB by the OT. I have big concerns that this won't change.
  14. If Congress subpoena Beth Wilkerson, who is a key player in all of this, I don't see how her license to practice law would be at risk. I look forward to everyone testifying, then seeing Roger try to explain his lies.
  15. Yeah I don't see how any of this translates into Chase Young being one of the best DL in the league. I was as big a Chase guy as anyone here but to ignore the obvious is disingenuous. And right now it should be obvious that he is just a guy. A guy who is committing the mortal sin of not trying hard enough.
  16. Never said it was created to offend. Not sure how you came up with that little gem. But as was pointed out for decades it has been made clear that mocking the actions of Native Americans, which this clearly is, is offensive.
  17. This is the funniest thing I will read all day. Of course they are mocking Native Americans with the Tomahawk Chop. Don't take my word for it, see the quote from the NA I posted above.
  18. Not sure why we are even debating a large group of people mocking another large group of people is insensitive and should stop immediately. But you are right, it's not up to us to decide. Maybe we should hear from Native Americans. "I think for us, with the tomahawk chop, you're not getting anything really authentic," Salsman said. "You're getting something that's more of a caricature." Crystal Echo Hawk, an enrolled member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma who is president of the Indigenous advocacy group IllumiNative, said: "We can't let this just be a local Native issue. The imagery, chant, red face aren't just impacting locally — it's impacting all Natives." Stephanie Fryberg, a professor of psychology at the University of Michigan and a member of the Tulalip Tribes, said the effect of such mascots and gestures is not always immediately obvious."The Commissioner’s comment focuses solely on peoples’ attitudes, but ignores the fact that there are decades of research that document the psychological harm associated with Native-themed mascots and related gameday behavior," she said in a statement. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/tribes-push-back-against-mlb-claims-native-americans-approve-tomahawk-n1282516
  19. You don't think a 53 year old white guy mocking Native Americans with the Chop is offensive? Interesting perspective.
  20. When my team (Red Sox in this case) is out I always pick the team to root for based on the fans. Atlanta sports fans are long suffering, all of their teams combined have 1 ring and the '90's Braves should have won more. But then I see these white conservatives doing the Chop, after our team changed their name. I remembered why MLB moved the All Star Game and how they invited a very public anti-vaxer to sing the national anthem, and I had big time reservations. But I don't like Houston, not because of the cheating because every team has tried to steal signs for a century and this was just a different method, it's because Houston and Boston had history. But last night as they showed the crowds in Atlanta I just said screw it and rooted for the Braves.
  21. This is simply not fair. @Renegade7was like most of us, we had reservations but after the playoff game we kind of got excited to see what he can do for a full season. Well we have our answer. As posted he's late with some throws and with his rag arm this is a huge issue. He is extremely limited and needs things around him to be good for success. Well this is the NFL and specifically the Washington Football Team so it's never going to be really good around him. So we need to move on, he had his chance.
  22. Oh I know losing won't rid of of the Snyders. And I'm certainly not going to tell you are wrong for rooting for your team. Me? The season is gone so I may as well root for something that will make these evil people unhappy. My only consolation after yet another bad loss it this hurt Daniel Snyder more than it hurts me. I know that's petty but screw it, this is how I feel.
