  1. On Fernandina Island in the Galapogos, my new personal non-starter in vacation destination discussions.
  2. Are you my boss? I'm kidding, but there's a lot of similarities there. Similar story for me with the certs too, but with Server 2003. I was two exams into that before they retired it. That's when I quit worrying about them. Being a MS partner is great for the software! We've been a partner since I started where I'm at. My very first task was to organize years worth of MSDN install discs, back when they sent those out monthly. The support you get is also really good if you need it. It saved our ass a few months ago dealing with a journal wrap on a DC. It was a long and painful process, but two MS techs were able to get it worked out over two days. As of now, we get 10 free cases a year, but rarely have needed it. I think we've used it twice, maybe three times, over the years for things we couldn't quite work through. The times we've needed it though, it was really nice to have. Saved a lot of pain and money for us, and the customers that we needed it for.
  3. I work for a very small shop, meaning me and my boss. We do small biz support for around 50 clients. Boss man wants me to get it because that's where the business is headed for the people we support. We're transitioning most of them from Small Business Server networks. Honestly, I've been lazy on certs over the years. Getting back into the groove. It'll be good practice, and something to have. Probably gonna do the other Windows 10 test now that it's out there, and just get that underwhelming MCSA. From there, I think I'll probably jump into Server 2016.
  4. I have to study for the Windows 10 cert (not my choice). I hate having to exert all that effort for a desktop cert. 70-697 is no cakewalk. Seems like it's as much of a test on the whole Microsoft ecosystem with Azure, Intune, etc. as it is windows 10. At first I thought it was gonna be something I could read the MS book and breeze through. Now realizing it's actually gonna take real effort. Boo.I don't hate Windows 10 as much as most, but I'm not thrilled about having to support it. To disable Cortana on W10 home, there's a regedit. For Pro and Enterprise, use local or domain Group Policy. http://www.howtogeek.com/265027/how-to-disable-cortana-in-windows-10/
  5. twa, I swear I was going to post the title song from that Cohen album, as I was looking for some creepy-ish songs for Halloween last night. Then I fell asleep. I'll mostly spare everyone, but I still have a gazillion tabs open, so I'm at least posting a few not necessarily creepy ones.
  6. Yeah, he's really a pretty good writer. I haven't looked at everything there, but if you click on 'The Latest' in the site menu, it takes you through some stuff it looks like mostly other people write, but he had another one back in August that I posted in the Murphy thread that was good too. That's here: http://www.tmurphy93.com/2016/08/09/from-the-edge-and-back-again/ . Talks about what he did in the offseason for getting ready for switching positions, training, and a bunch of stuff. I look forward to seeing what he writes now.
  7. I can't find that Trent Murphy thread. This is another good read from him. #CHOPWOOD
  8. Deserves a Tuesday night post http://www.ew.com/article/2016/10/18/chuck-berry-new-album-2017 --- http://tinyurl.com/zapvo87
  9. That's the second time now that the Ravens have fired their OC after losing to the Redskins. They did that with Cam Cameron too, after we beat them 31-28 in 2012. Kirk came in for an injured RGIII, led a comeback at the end, tied it up on a two point conversion, then Forbath kicked a FG in OT. This was the one where that nasty hit by Ngata started the knee issues for RGII.

Week 5 What To Watch For

I love these posts TK. Every week, some of these stats amaze me. Nice work again.
  11. According to this, 12. The Colts (Indianapolis and Baltimore) lead the all-time series 20-12. The last time we played the Baltimore Colts was in Dec. '81 at RFK, Joe Gibbs first season, a 38-14 win. The last time we played them in Baltimore was '78 and a 21-17 loss. That was Jack Pardee's first season as head coach. http://www.footballdb.com/teams/nfl/indianapolis-colts/teamvsteam?opp=32&ha=H
  12. Just edited what I said above. The Skins beat the Colts on Oct. 23, 1955 14-13 at Memorial stadium. That was the last win in Baltimore. The series record with the Ravens is 2-3. The one time we played them at M&T was the game that you're talking about.
  13. Saw this stat yesterday and had a hard time believing it, but the Redskins have not had a regular season win in Baltimore since 1955. Seems to check out.
  14. Thought this was the best thread for this. Sounds like, at the very least, changing your Yahoo password and security questions (or just disable them) might be a good idea. http://www.computerworld.com/article/3123423/security/hackers-got-a-treasure-trove-of-data-from-the-yahoo-breach.html?nsdr=true
  15. Recently started rotating riding into work one day and riding home the next. It's only about 6 miles, but a few hills on the route. The big one is the Nickel Bridge over the James. Took me a couple of attempts before I didn't have to stop near the top on the way home. Felt like the out of shape old guy I am, but I'm getting better and better and making it up that bridge with no issues now. Going to try to work up to a weekend Capital trail ride before winter. My 70 year old father in law has ridden this thing both ways several times. He's a road bike maniac. I think he rides about 15 miles on a slow day. http://www.traillink.com/trail/virginia-capital-trail.aspx I forgot I saw this. Pretty cool 'ski patrol' kind of thing getting started on the trail. https://rvanews.com/news/richmond-cycling-corps-to-help-out-capital-trail-cyclist-and-wanna-be-cyclists-with-the-kickstand/138625
  16. Maybe it's old news, but I just found out, and watched the first episode of "All or Nothing: A Season with the Arizona Cardinals" last night on Amazon Prime. It's an NFL films production and very much like Hard Knocks, but a season in review thing. Really good football filler for the doldrums until training camp. One word of warning: the language not timid at all. There is an edited version without mature content and language. I'd estimate it probably cuts at least a good solid 15 minutes or more off the show though, and makes me wonder if Bruce Arians is even in that version. The first minute or so will tell you what to expect language-wise.
  17. Bearcam, also a great sleep aide. http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/06/travel/bearcam-alaska-katmai-park-nps-trnd http://explore.org/live-cams/player/brown-bear-salmon-cam-brooks-falls
