  1. My dad bought a one year old Cadillac for $500 from a guy who put a "Divorce Sale-Everything Must Go!" ad in the Sunday paper back when big ol' Cadillacs were the ****. Said the guy was more than happy to get rid of it as quickly as possible, out of spite. ...just saw Michael Jenkins tweet this Bill Simmons thing out. Seems really familiar, stylistically.
  2. Hey now! Divorce is a strong word. I was thinking cinematic separation, just to take some time off from movies and sort things out. To be fair, she likes both movies. Watched em a few times at home since. I've nodded off during a few movies myself. The English Patient comes to mind.
  3. I tend to agree. I gave her another shot, and she let me down. On the other hand, it allowed me to enjoy the movie without any hand holding nonsense, or numerous questions about what you just saw on that big ass screen in front of you. We might have to try seeing different movies when we go to the theater together, or I'll just go solo to the guns-a-blazing flicks in the future.
  4. I heard a funny noise during one of the rare quiet moments during Mad Max and look over to my wifey and she's snoring like a buzzsaw. I have no idea how she fell asleep during that mayhem. She has action movie narcolepsy or something. Fell asleep in Saving Private Ryan and Return of the King too. However, if you turn on a Lifetime movie with Valerie Bertinelli, she's totally fixated and enthralled. Kind of funny. All in all, I thought Mad Max was good. I was just slightly disappointed because of everybody raving about how great it was. It was better than good, but not quite as great as I was expecting it to be after seeing everyone's else reactions to it. I thought the guitar guy was goofy. Still, definitely worth going to see.
  5. I'm curious about about the effect of the men's rules changes next season. Seems to me like less timeouts is a bit of a disadvantage for a younger team. It's going to be up to the coaches to adapt and have their teams well prepared for situations they normally would be able to manage on the fly with more timeouts. I don't think the quicker shot clock will have much of a negative effect. -- Testudo Times ‏@testudotimes 36m36 minutes ago Maryland will be playing Princeton in Baltimore this year. Last time the Terps played the Tigers, they won a Natty http://www.testudotimes.com/2015/6/8/8748129/maryland-basketball-will-host-princeton-in-baltimore-on-december-19th …
  6. Had a lot to do today, and I'm kinda glad I missed it. Box score shows a sad, sad story. Sucks to knock off the #1 seed then crap out against UVA. Booo! Good season though.
  7. I cried a little inside when that ugly hybrid alien thing died. It just wanted to be wif his mommy, and bite heads off everything else. Life is cruel.
  8. Home from #1 job just in time to turn on ESPNU and see the bases loaded and Lamonte Wade with the 2 RBI double. Nice! Terps 2-0 going into the 6th. I love it when my viewership doesn't summon all the bad mojo in the universe and negatively affect who I'm pulling for. Ha! They showed a pic of the Maryland and UVA teams flying together on the same plane for this because some scrambling had to occur with travel plans due to the Terps beating UCLA and UVA beating USC. Terps on one side of the plane, Cavs on the other. Kinda awkward. Edit: Gah! Disaster. Too late to switch. Sorry. Edit: BS call in the 8th. Clearly hit by pitch. Ump decides batter didn't try hard enough to get out of the way. Would have been two on, no outs. Announcers respectfully repeat that the ump was wrong. Clear as day. WTF and **** that ****!
  9. Aliens had so many great lines. I remember laughing my ass off the first time I saw it, which I didn't expect at all. Another good line is when the ship that's going to pick them up crashes, and Paxton is ranting with the "Game Over man, what are we gonna do" lines, just the way it's delivered, Paul Reiser's response about building a fire and singing some songs still makes me laugh. I hope they do rekindle some of the magic from the first two movies.
  10. That was an awesome play by Wade. The announcers went on to talk about how technically, the catcher was blocking the plate and it could have been called, but then they said it's never called, which makes it a dumb rule to me. Either it's a rule or not. That's the kind of thing that can lead to unnecessary controversy. It may be my imagination, but it seems like a lot of teams that I root for get screwed by calls open to interpretation like that. I had a feeling Maryland would win when I saw that happen. You could see Bloom was starting to struggle a little in the 6th too, with a little help from a error from the second baseman . I'm not surprised they got to him in the 7th. There was also a great barehanded grab and throw to first by the third baseman earlier in the game. He also had an error early on. Three errors didn't really cost them. They are a scrappy team.
  11. I fell asleep with the Terps up 2-0 in the 6th. I hadn't really seen them play this year. That kid Taylor Bloom had UCLA's hitters all off kilter. Good to wake up this AM and see they won. Some highlights here: https://pac-12.com/videos/highlights-top-seeded-ucla-baseball-bounced-ncaa-regionals-maryland Congrats to VCU too. Good luck against Miami.
  12. http://insider.espn.go.com/college-sports/recruiting/basketball/mens/insider/story/_/id/12990055/summer-recruiting-targets-needs-maryland-terrapins-college-basketball?ex_cid=espnapi_public Edit: I took out the intro to try and adhere to rule # 10. Summer Recruiting Bible: Can Terps seize momentum? Seniors (2) : F Jake Layman, SG Rasheed Sulaimon Juniors (2) : PF Robert Carter, PF Damonte Dodd Sophomores (5) : PG Melo Trimble, SG Dion Wiley, SG-SF Jared Nickens, CMichal Cekovsky, PG Jaylen Brantley Freshmen (2) : C Diamond Stone, PF Ivan Bender Possible early entry losses after next season: Melo Trimble, Diamond Stone Available scholarships for 2016: At least two (likely four) Committed prospects for 2016 and beyond: PG Anthony Cowan (2016) Biggest needs for 2016-17: big wing, combo guard and big man Must-haves: SG Markelle Fultz (No. 55, DC Blue Devils) Targets: SF Josh Jackson (No. 3, 1Nation), G Frank Jackson (No. 30, Utah Prospects), SF Mario Kegler (No. 34, MBA Hoops), F Jonathan Isaac (No. 51, Each 1 Teach 1), SG Curtis Jones (No. 53, Boo Williams), SG Markelle Fultz (No. 55 in ESPN 100, Team Final), PG Tony Carr (Team Final); PG Kevin Huerter(Albany City Rocks), F Lamar Stephens (Team Final), F Wenyen Gabriel (Mass Rivals) Summer scenario The Terps are certain to lose two starters in Layman and Sulaimon -- and could lose as many as three more. Trimble could depart after this season, and Stone -- a true post player with an NBA-ready body -- could also leave. Carter is another one who is a possibility to depart, so this is a huge recruiting class for Mark Turgeon in terms of being able to sustain momentum. There will still be some pieces in place with guys like Wiley, Nickens and Cekovsky, but the Terps have to take advantage of the on-court success they will likely have this season and parlay it into a few top 75 players. The priority may be Fultz, but there are plenty of other top 75 players on the radar: Turgeon will need a big to replace Stone, a big wing to replace Layman and a guard that may have to replace Trimble.

  14. For Roku users, I saw this Nowhere TV thing on lifehacker about a month ago. I installed it, but haven't gotten around to checking it out. I work all the time once summer hits, so not a whole lot of time for TV. Looks like it could be pretty cool though, especially for people that stream a lot. http://lifehacker.com/the-best-private-roku-channels-and-how-to-install-them-1700519600. Also, in the comments, there is a link to a Roku private channel guide. http://www.rokuguide.com/private-channels
  15. Barshed alert! Awesome. Please post pics when you can. I'm too busy this summer, but it's on my radar for next year.

  17. The Terps got a new real deal fab 5. Has Maryland ever been a #1 ranked team going into the season? Crazy that at the beginning of last season Turgeon was supposedly on the hot seat. Edit: My friend Google says the highest preseason ranking for the Terps ever was #2 in 2001-2002. TerrapinStationMD @terpstationmd · 25m25 minutes ago Expect Maryland to enter the season as the #1 ranked team in the country. I never thought I'd see that.
  18. There's some pretty funny photoshops in Shaq's twitter timeline. My vote goes to this guy. @Brycej_allday @SHAQ Those new Descent 6's #ShaqtinaFall http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2015/5/6/8563793/shaq-falls-over-loses-shoe-breaks-the-tnt-set
  19. I didn't do a raised bed, but did build a a rectangular border last summer for a small herb garden out of 2x8's, and used some landscaping tarp under the area where I planted.. This was in an large, already mulched are near a tree, where plenty of sun gets to it. I just happened to have some 2x8s laying around, so I used them. I put good soil in that area only and partially buried the 2x8 frame. Helps keep the weeds out and have a clear defined area to focus on. This is pretty much what I did, just a little smaller, and with no planning on what to plant, or thought about what I was planting where. My wife wanted to plant herbs, so I let her decide what was going in it: http://www.instructables.com/id/Above-Ground-Square-Inch-Gardening/ For anyone with no room to plant stuff, I saw this the other day for a hydroponic wall garden, and thought it would be cool to do if you live in a space-challenged area. http://www.instructables.com/id/Clip-on-Hydroponic-Wall-Garden/?ALLSTEPS
  20. I posted this link a few pages back when IMS had a podcast where they were talking about Sulaimon a little. It's a pretty good recap of some of the things that happened at Duke. His situation there is a little murky. Since then, I've seen some tweets and posts on a few message boards, from some seemingly well informed people, that the staff was higher on Rasheed than Damion Lee, before Lee committed to Louisville. http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/acc/duke/article17332781.html#/tabPane=tabs-b0710947-1-1
  21. Lacrosse game against Johns Hopkins is on BTN
  22. I recently saw that Hobbit movie too, and it was one of the most ridiculous letdowns ever. I didn't mind the first two much, but I thought there was a big drop-off from the LOTR to the Hobbit movies, and then from one to two in the Hobbit movies. The third was just awful. I put it right up there on a disappointment level with historical failures like Exorcist II, Jaws 3D, and The Phantom Menace.
  23. People said he was a great jockey, but he was exposed at the end.
  24. If anyone is having issues seeing this game, for me it was supposed to be on CSNA or NBA on DirecTV but isn't for some reason. I'm watching it here, which works out good while watching the Caps on the big screen http://stream.nbcsports.com/rsn/index_csn-mid-atlantic.html?pid=17367
