  1. I really wanted to like Odell Beckham. I love dynamic, game breaking wide receivers. But he's just so damn dumb. https://www.si.com/college/lsu/football/beckham-charged-with-simple-battery
  2. Well, I've got a problem with Jessica Mendoza and her mediocre insights she brings to Sunday Night Baseball, too.
  3. Being made to manage the Mets should be punishment enough. Let him keep his job.
  4. Alright, so PSVue is stopping streaming services on January 30th which means I've got to figure out an alternative. And it's probably a good thing because I've been thinking about switching for awhile, just too lazy to do it so this is forcing my hand. Hulu, YouTube TV, Sling, there's ****ing AT&T...I mean, I dunno what to get. What do you guys like lately?
  5. Glad to see Cora got fired. Annoyed that they said it's a "mutual parting of ways" but whatever. I hope they hire a terrible manager in his place.
  6. I thought they should have locked up Donaldson. Kinda disappointed they didn't but if they think Kieboom is the guy, well at least he's got a wide open opportunity to take 3B.
  7. Nats fans acting like they got a WS stolen from them and hating the Astros because of it instead of remembering that they, in fact, just won a World Series is pretty hilarious. Good, **** him. Even though I don't think Pete Rose should have gotten the Pete Rose treatment, I hope Cora does.
  8. Exactly, which is why losing these draft picks isn't too big of a deal, IMO. Does that mean they're losing the ability to spend that money, too? Cause they can always go over slot to sign guys that have fallen to the 3rd and 4th rounds that other clubs would think they have to go over slot to sign in the first or second round. 5 million fine is a drop in the bucket to these guys, too.
  9. Yeah, it's a bigger crapshoot for sure. I think if you're picking in the top 3, you've got a decent chance to land someone...certainly not as good as the NFL or NBA...but if you're picking #15 in the first round of the MLB draft, forget it. NFL, NBA, #15 in the first, you've still got a decent (not great) chance to land someone that can make a difference for you. I agree that MLB is valuing younger talent more in recent years, it has been refreshing to see. And I think you're right, MLB doesn't want a bigger headache than they already have.
  10. Whoa, Luhnow and Hinch just got fired!
  11. To a certain degree. The Astros drafted Springer, Correa and Bregman in the first round in the early part of the 2010s. Safe to say, without those 3 they don't win a WS ring. They also drafted McCullers in the first round in 2012. Docking a 3rd round pick isn't the same as docking a 3rd round pick in the NFL. But if you're at the top of the draft in the first round or close to it, you've got a chance to really help your franchise. However since they'd be picking at the bottom of the 1st round this year, I agree with you.
  12. Steinbrenner: the Dave Winfield and the Howie Spira fiasco. It should be a 30 for 30. Unfortunately for the rest of the MLB, Steinbrenner's suspension worked in the Yankees favor. With Steinbrenner out of the way, Stick Michael got to work and drafted and pretty much laid the groundwork for the late 90s/early 00s Yankees teams that won titles. And then Steinbrenner got to be there to take credit for it.
  13. Taubman was that doucheloaf that was inappropriate to the female sportswriter after the Astros won a game in the WS this past year. Do you think MLB was like "....yeah, well, I think we're off to a good start here with these punishments...but who was that guy that yelled at the reporters and was a jerk? Yeah, let's **** with that guy while we're at it!" If so, I applaud them. Though, I do find it interesting that Luhnow and Hinch get a 1 year suspension each. But what's it mean to be on the ineligible list? Is that a lifetime ban like Pete Rose got?
  14. https://nypost.com/2020/01/09/photos-show-bill-clinton-ghislaine-maxwell-on-epsteins-lolita-express-jet/ To be fair: Still, not a good look for Slick Willie, given everything that's been alleged against him in the past. And not a good look for Chris Tucker, either.
  15. He had a scorching hot first half of a season when he played for the Brewers a few years ago after spending a few years in Korea. He got off to a ridiculous start, was the hottest hitter in baseball and mashing homers left and right and that's where the rumblings came from. Pretty sure he hit more homers in the first month of the season than he'd ever hit in the MLB before going to Korea or something like that. But he mashed in Korea, pretty sure he won an MVP over there and set records. So maybe he figured something out over there, got hooked up with a good hitting coach. He looks like he had a good season last year, I like this signing for the Nats.
  16. I mean...yeah, what'd anyone expect? Dude can definitely flesh out his staff as he sees fit.
  17. Yep, this is about where I am. I am not sure what the Tua news means for us as I don't see it having much to do with us. While there's a lot of hype today and he's grabbing headlines, the dude just cannot stay healthy. I'm not a draft expert but I can see him going in the top 5, I can also see him sliding and going after 15 somewhere. We've all watched a draft where guys who were thought to be top picks inexplicably slide. We're sitting at #2 with Chase Young in our sights, which is a pretty good place to be. I am not sure if there's a team out there that values Tua THAT high, where they'd have to give up a ton of picks to us to take him. I mean, it'd make more sense to try to trade with the Lions if you're a team that feels like you have to have Tua. Burrow is the consensus #1 and the Skins don't need to take a QB that high so...why try to jump to #2?
  18. Um, I care about the guy who was able to get Haskins on the upswing after a terrible start. Wasn't it Jason Campbell that had, like, 3 offensive coordinators in his first three years here? Now I'm not saying Jason Campbell would have been way better if he only had one...IMO, if you can play, you can play. But I can't imagine that it makes it any easier when there's turnover.
  19. Yes. I agree with everything you wrote, but specifically the bolded part.
  20. Uncut Gems. I'm not sure how I feel about it. First of all, it's a quality movie, it's A24 so the production value, camera work, acting...all good stuff. Sandler is...great. Might not like his character from time to time but the character isn't likable. Kevin Garnett, I thought he was kind of a stiff until the end, he shows some chops. Nice to see Judd Hirsch. The John Amos cameo was hilarious. Bogosian was good, too, he doesn't do enough film. The film does a great job of making you feel the frantic pace of the situation that Sandler's character finds himself in. There's a scene where everything is absolutely going wrong for him in a moment where he needs things to go right. And no matter who you are or what your line of work is, practically everyone has felt that. Spoilers for anyone who's seen it and wants to discuss: Now you know how some of us feel after watching a hockey game. Sorry, couldn't resist
  21. I don't like it when people assume things based off other peoples looks and appearance. It's extremely shallow and mean. I'm far from a supermodel and I try to treat everyone equally and be nice to everyone. But man, Freddie Kitchens looks like a dude who's nursing a hangover in a duck blind somewhere and not an NFL coach. And that last name isn't doing him any favors, either. It's like he's spent a lot of time in kitchens everywhere he's been, how can you take that guy seriously if your name is Baker Mayfield, a name that reeks of prep school majesty? It was doomed from the start.
