  1. Kobe and his kid perish in a helicopter accident, yet Billie Ellish wins best album. Life doesn't make any sense.
  2. It's a sports tradition, homie. They do the same **** in baseball.
  3. 15 assists from Lonzo Ball. I'm not sure if that guy will ever turn into a scoring threat but as a pure, pass first point guard, he's pretty good.
  4. I'm looking forward to watching Zion and his career unfold. He's fun to watch for sure. But the ESPN hype machine is ridiculous. On Sportscenter this morning, they had some trivia about "He's the first player to score such and such amount of points and have this many rebounds in his first two games..." Stats that no one would think to track or even really care about. Like, some intern had to be up pretty late trying to figure out a stat line over his first two games that no other player had ever come up with across their first two games. It's stupid. I get why the hype machine exists, he's a freak athlete with a great feel for the game. Great power with a lot of finesse, too. It's just obnoxious that ESPN is so consumed with covering every little thing and making a huge deal out of it.
  5. Was very shocked and sad to learn this news earlier this afternoon. Wasn't a Lakers fan back in the day but definitely could appreciate how he played the game. Kinda transcended how I felt about the Lakers...when you see a guy like that have a career like that...it just doesn't matter. He earned everyone's respect and everyone appreciated him no matter how you felt about the Lakers, he transcended the game. IMO, Derek Jeter was like that. Tom Brady is like that. Michael Jordan was like that. You don't have to like their teams to understand how much they mean to their sport and to the world. Very, very sad. RIP Mamba.
  6. Bad Boys For Life. C. The chemistry between Martin Lawrence and Will Smith is still good. And not that I expect a movie like this to have a great plot or anything but...ugh.
  7. TTB going to Bogota to look for "suppliers" A likely story.
  8. Yep. I remember watching Suicide Squad at a buddies place and 30 minutes in being like "Hey, this isn't so bad, why's everyone trashing it?" and then it went ahead and turned into the biggest steaming pile of **** ever. I can't believe that arguably the most annoying character is getting a spin-off movie.
  9. I feel like she's one of those fringe characters that no one really cares about except hardcore comic fans. She doesn't appeal to the masses and therefore they're already fighting with one hand behind their back when trying to make a good movie. There's just an inherent lack of interest from the start.
  10. I don't necessarily think it's contrarian. I think some people feel that "Jeter is going to get elected, therefore I don't need to vote for him...my vote could be used for a guy like Billy Wagner or Fred McGriff." Ripken still has one of the highest vote percentages ever, I'm not mad at it.
  11. As much as I hate the Yankees, there are no real reasons to not vote for Jeter. Even though he was a ****ty defender, he still did everything else really well.
  12. Different times. Babe Ruth was a member of the first voting class and in DiMaggio and Mantle's times there wasn't a big hangup about % and who voted for them and who was stupid enough not to vote for them. If done today, their percentages would probably be higher.
  13. So yesterday, I went to go to the local rec center to swim. I did a sprint triathlon this past September and I want to do a real one coming up in May or June. I got a wetsuit for the triathlon and it's a blast. Swimming is a lot easier, it keeps you buoyant, it also helps you glide through the water a lot easier. I wore it once in the pool to get used to it before the triathlon and wore it the day of the meet but hadn't worn it since, even though I'd been swimming 2-3 times a week. It's been hanging in my closet and last week I said, screw it, I'm going to take it to the pool because it was fun to wear it. Yeah, I looked dorky but whatever. All the old people don't really seem to care. So yesterday I put the wetsuit on and walk into the pool and there's one lane empty. And as I'm getting ready to get in, I look at the next lane and see this girl who's doing a backstroke. And I look down and she's got a fish tail. Like, she's put her legs into this suit that resembles a fish tail, complete with sparkly sequin things that make it look like scales and a fin at the end. So she's swimming along like a ****ing fish, doing deep dives to the bottom of the pool. And suddenly I didn't feel like a dork.
  14. Jeter gets to the HoF, apparently 1 vote shy of being unanimous according to my buddy who's a Yankees fan. It's not good enough that the guy won like, 5 rings, 3k hits, awards, famous plays, living legend, etc...nope, he's ****ing butthurt that he's ONE VOTE SHY of being unanimous. It's never enough for these assholes. Happy about Larry Walker. I've come around on him in recent years. He was a beast outside of Coors Field, too. Got hurt a lot but he dominated when he was on the field.
  15. Can't wait to see what McLaurin can do next year. Now that he's got his feet wet, experienced a whole season in the league and knows what to expect...and hopefully some stability at the QB position next year...I'm thinking he has a huge year. Sims has to get better hands. But he's so quick and shifty, he's dangerous. They should be lining him up all over the field and using him in various ways. I'd have him wide, in the slot, direct snaps, end arounds, reverses...good things happen when that dude has the ball in his hands, he's just got to get better at catching. But that doesn't mean there aren't other ways to get the ball in his hands.
  16. In a quarterback driven league, I think it's important to be able to disrupt the QB as much as possible. Quite frankly, if we can get a guy that can make life miserable for Dak, Wentz (whenever he's healthy) and whatever gump they have up in in NY, that's great. I love the 49ers defense, it's awesome.
  17. I watched that. Dude looks like a young Eddie Vedder. "...a compliment for us...is a compliment for you."
  18. What else has entered your mom?
  19. Not to get into a measuring contest here, but...hello, AL East. We've got a Boston team. Kinda offset by the Rays because no one goes to their games and cares about them but...yeah, Boston.
  20. All fanbases have douchey fans, some more than others. But I'd say in the Mets case that it's just more of a byproduct from being from NYC and the sense of entitlement that goes along with it.
  21. You can **** all the way off.
  22. And the Mets are a couple days behind in interviewing manager candidates that the Astros/Sox are looking at. I don't really hate the Mets that much but I take a bit of comfort in knowing that there's a bigger mess out there than my Orioles.
  23. Well, yeah...agreed that the the security guard looked like he was being a wet blanket, we don't know what he was there for, though. But OBJ's decision making continues to be dumb.
