  1. Past hour
  2. I think some of you are being too literal. I took it more as "we can't let events like Oct 7th be a manner in which places earn their independence."
  3. Glad you brought up ours. That was the day we "said" we were independent by finally signing the declaration before sending it to the King. We still had to earn it the hard way 6-8 years later (Treaty of Paris was technically two years after Battle of Yorktown). Had to follow up on me hearing many thought July 2nd should be instead of the 4th (since thats when the decision to formally declare Independence was voted on amd "yes" won). The reasons as to "why" we declared Independence was signed on the the 4th but way I'm reading it (anyone can correct me) the King of England at the time didn't even get the copy sent to him directly until August that same year (and we took names off the copy we sent him to shrink his official list of people to kill).
  4. Trump insiders say Nikki Haley being considered for VP — if she pays his legal fees Donald Trump’s campaign is considering offering the role of vice president to his most long-standing campaign rival, Axios reported Saturday. Nikki Haley is under “active consideration” for the position, according to unnamed insiders in the former president’s camp. Axios said Trump’s decision hinges on whether Trump believes Haley — whom he called "Birdbrain" throughout the fight to become the GOP's presidential nominee — can help him avoid a prison sentence and cover millions of dollars in debt racked up by legal bills if he loses the election. Haley has deep ties to donors who are not supportive of Trump, the report states. By linking up with her, he would also hope to win over the many Republicans who continue to support her. 5. I've heard that after watching vids of guys playing w/ clubs, Johnny is fired up n ready to play w/ the boot.
  6. She was accused of faking an incriminating video of teenage cheerleaders. She was arrested, outcast and condemned. The problem? Nothing was fake after all Madi Hime is taking a deep drag on a blue vape in the video, her eyes shut, her face flushed with pleasure. The 16-year-old exhales with her head thrown back, collapsing into laughter that causes smoke to billow out of her mouth. The clip is grainy and shaky – as if shot in low light by someone who had zoomed in on Madi’s face – but it was damning. Madi was a cheerleader with the Victory Vipers, a highly competitive “all-star” squad based in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The Vipers had a strict code of conduct; being caught partying and vaping could have got her thrown out of the team. And in July 2020, an anonymous person sent the incriminating video directly to Madi’s coaches. Eight months later, that footage was the subject of a police news conference. “The police reviewed the video and other photographic images and found them to be what we now know to be called deepfakes,” district attorney Matt Weintraub told the assembled journalists at the Bucks County courthouse on 15 March 2021. Someone was deploying cutting-edge technology to tarnish a teenage cheerleader’s reputation. The anonymous sender had used “spoofing” software to disguise their identity behind an unknown number. The police had managed to trace it to the IP address of Raffaella Spone, a 50-year-old woman with no previous criminal record. In her mugshot, she wears a lime green turtleneck with her hair scraped back in a tight ponytail. Her eyes, thickly lined in black, look up at the camera in a cold stare; her brightly painted lips are pursed with anger. She looks terrifying. “It appears that her daughter cheers – or did cheer – with the victims at the Victory Vipers gym,” Weintraub told the assembled journalists. Spone had taken it upon herself to smear her 16-year-old’s rivals in an attempt to get them thrown off the team. As microphone after microphone was placed before him on the podium, Weintraub didn’t mince his words. “This tech is now available to anyone with a smartphone – your neighbour, somebody who holds a grudge,” he said, waving his own phone in the air. “Here in Bucks County, we have an adult with specific intent, preying on juveniles through the use of deepfake technology.” But a little over a year later, when Spone finally appeared in court to face the charges against her, she was told the cyberharassment element of the case had been dropped. The police were no longer alleging that she had digitally manipulated anything. Someone had been crying deepfake. A story that generated thousands of headlines around the world was based on teenage lies, after all. When the truth finally came out, it was barely reported – but the videos and images were real. 7. I did a little looking. Most countries that are born of violence celebrate some day other than an important violent day as their national holiday. (Though there are exceptions e.g. Bastille day) It certainly is possible that the Palestinians would celebrate Oct. 7th, especially if Hamas ends up being the entity that brings them a state. But there is plenty of precedent for them to pick something else (a day when the final documents are signed or they have a "national" election, etc.) We celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Not the battles of Concord and Lexington or the Battle of Trenton, or the Battle of Yorktown.
  8. I get where you're coming from, but it's much to early to be certain that this is "an organization worth rooting for". Compared to the previous owner/front office, sure....but after so many seasons of ****.... I'll believe it when I see it. Drafting a Slenderman running QB with the 2nd overall pick is about the worst thing that a new Front office could do, in my opinion. The fluff about his work ethic and loving football is the same exact **** that the media spewed about bobart 3. The OL is still pretty ****, and the defense is gutted. I don't think the roster is league worst, but it's gotta be bottom third. Definitely a couple of seasons away from being competitive, thanks to Ron. May as well hope for the best, but this feels real familiar. I really wish they'd kept Howell. Marcus Mariota is gonna be really dull to watch after Jayden has his leg broken in week 4. I'm envious of your optimism. Truly hope that it pays off.
  9. I know you're trying to be cute - by "we", I mean the team. And there are ways they can teach him how to protect himself better. I agree that undergoing an NFL weight training program is going to be a key part of that. But I assume that will happen regardless.
  10. Today
  11. I read that as “we” the fans need to make sure……that the coaching staff takes seriously 🤷‍♂️
  12. So my daughter was trying to suggest something to cook for Mother's Day, and suggested that maybe I could cook some placenta. Um, what? So maybe some Placenta Quesadillas? We suggested to her that maybe she meant polenta.
  13. Well we do have one of the best training staffs in the league. Seems like a solid start to me.
  14. ? how do you propose that “we” do that? I guess I could start the ball rolling by getting him a complimentary consultation at Planet Fitness
  15. That's fine, but statistically it's very unlikely.
  16. Israel's Independence Day reads like the day it was formally established as an official sovereign state. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independence_Day_(Israel) They give it flexibility to keep it from falling in the sabbath...point I see here is there's no need to overthink this. The day Palestine is formally recognized as a separate sovereign state (if that ever happens) would be a more then appropriate choice for Independence Day. People talking about October 7th are jus starting ****...
  17. Maybe. But if we’re being honest, the “at a minimum” option is actually: “at a minimum his wife maybe saw the shirt online and bought it for him and he thought it was cool and doesn’t give a ****” lol
  18. Just How Compromised Is The GOP By The Russians? For years, critics of Vladimir Putin have been warning that the Russians have taken over parts of the Republican Party. They raised the alarm as Republicans defended the Russian leader, parroted clear Kremlin talking points, and became mules for disinformation campaigns. In recent weeks, that criticism has shifted to include not just Republicans who have left the party, including former representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, but current GOP members. Recently, two powerful Republican chairs of the House Intelligence Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee warned openly about how Russian propaganda has seeped into their party and even made its way into speeches on the House floor. Other members are now even openly questioning whether some of their fellow officials have been compromised and are being extorted. Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) suggested in a recent interview that the Russian spies may possess compromising tapes of some of his colleagues. It’s unclear where he’s getting his information or how accurate it is. And then there’s this: According to a report by Politico, a number of European politicians were recently paid by Moscow to interfere in the upcoming EU elections by Russians pretending to be a “media” outlet called “Voice of Europe.” The Kremlin-backed operation used money to influence officials to take pro-Russian stances. Authorities have conducted some money seizures and launched an investigation into which members of the European Parliament may have accepted cash bribes. This in turn raises an important question for our own politics: Are the Russians doing the same with U.S. politicians, directly or indirectly? This piece walks through the three types of compromise—disinformation, extortion, and bribery—to give a sense of what we know and what we don’t really know, and, importantly, where we should be on our guard. As this summary will show, from the 2016 election till now, there’s enough Russian smoke now to assume there is a fire, one that compromises not only the integrity of our own system of elections, but the safety and security of the free world. 19. But that's what we are being told by Keim et al that the FO was thinking when drafting him...
