My understanding of the targeting rule is that there either has to be use of the crown of the helmet by the offender OR contact with the head or neck area of the player being offended. Since this was neither, targeting was not an appropriate call. The PF call was the appropriate one. The targeting call against Mohamed Kamara later on when he hit Shadeur with the crown of his helmet to Shadeurs helmet is probably textbook what the NCAA was trying to eliminate. Colorado is a good story an all but I can't see how they survive Oregon and USC back to back. Even UCLA and Oregon State will pose huge challenges for them (not to mention Wazzou and Utah).
