Most of the alcohol (and all the hard stuff) is sold in state run liquor stores, which have shut down. They only within the last month started selling online, and have had to set up a lotto type system for who can order to not overwhelm the system. Beer you can still get in certain gas stations and grocery store, but even that only happened in the last 10-12 months, so that's more luck than anything else. For example, WV has one of the lowest counts of infection. Granted, that could be total BS because this state is so behind the times of getting people tested efficiently. But I live about 3 minutes into WV, a few minutes from both route 9 to NOVA and 340 to Frederick, and can be there in under a half hour. Practically everyone that lives here travels towards MD, VA or DC for work. We get a ton of tourist traffic from MD, VA and DC people for casinos, outdoor activities, breweries, etc. We've already seen a huge influx of out of state tags after bordering states were placed on lockdown, at our historical areas and parks. WV locked things down a day or two after our bordering states, and our local bars were filled with MD and VA folks for that one night. Point being, they all need to stick together to prevent it from getting out of hand. The eastern panhandle where I live may as well be considered part of the DMV, as nearly everyone here works there and we couldn't be more different than the rest of the state.
