Anyone else find it amusing one protest camp was shut down for environmental issues?

Anyone find it amusing that sacred land can be appropriated by the government so a company can profit? The day you start complaining that the highway department is taking your church land to build a Pink Taco I'm going to laugh.

Not because it's funny but because you sit on your perch of priviledge and cast dispersions on everyone who does not share your good fortune, and karma's a ****.

Government has been appropriating/taking land from all sorts of people for a long time to "benefit" the whole, it can and has happened to anyone. Its a practice/law that needs to be ended.

First they cannot just take, it must be purchased and opposed in court if you object.

Secondly the pipeline is not just to benefit the company, but you are free to argue otherwise in court or here.

My privileges and fortunes are what I make of them.

First, a forced sale is NOT the same as willing sale.

Also, forcing a sale at assessed value is anti-free market.

Third, churches are protected (again your perch of white Christian privilege) but sacred Native ground isn't. So much for freedom of religion.

Amazing how a states rights freed market guy like you is so willing to force someone to sell what is rightfully theirs, I guess everyone has your privileges and freedoms just so long as they are white and Christian and don't have something you want.

Impossible for me to more strongly agree.

If Disneyland wanted to buy my house they will buy it through a created LLC because they know that once I get wind that it's Disney then the negotiating position changes drastically.

Supply and demand is what free market advocates like @twa will scream in EVERY instance EXCEPT when it comes to eminent domain. Then free market be damned it's all socialistic "common good".

Absolutely hysterical at the level of hypocrisy.

Could you tell me who owned title to this sacred Indian ground Paleface?

I am part Native American since it matters to you for some reason.

I would agree it has been abused, but it is too critical to be ended in all cases.

I just got my ancestry thing back in the mail I'm part Native American too!

Funny how you ignored everything I said. I guess it would be problematic to have to argue against your own beliefs. But as long as it's for big oil or big corporations then shilling comes so naturally.

I wouldnt be opposed to it staying in place if there were massive changes and checks and balances to it. But I dont know what that would look like.

It used to be for highways etc but then thry started seizing for business district developments all bought at a discounted price compared to what it would have bedn bought at on the open market.

Pipelines are rather similar to railways.

Personally I'd be fine with shutting them all down and watching you walk. :)

Is it reservation land? If so then the US gov't should have no claim on their territory. Just another example of stealing from those on the Res, sad part is that people who should know better are the head cheerleaders for the forced appropriation of private land. Because it's too "critical" but what you didn't say was critical to who?

We recently had a farmer sell land on one of the busiest corners in Lexington for a HUGE sum to a new development. According to you, that farmer who had the foresight to see what his investment was poised to bring, the government should have used eminent domain to rob him of his investment payout in order for the developers to get his land on the cheap. And why not, the planned development has restaurants, stores, and apartments so it's obvious that the land would benefit everyone else more than him so he shouldn't be allowed to profit from his investment.

You really want to recount the criminal history of land appropriation for the railroads?

the pipeline does not cross reservation land....the US stole it long ago

I agree on govt excess in using it for things other than infrastructure, or critical needs.

Well at least there's that, but it seems you feel a private oil line is infrastructure or a critical need. Even though there are shallower parallel lines already in place.

But at least one judge is considering halting the project because environmental impact studies weren't done correctly.
