Keystone pipeline leaks unknown amount of oil in North Dakota

A pipeline that carries tar sands oil from Canada through seven states has leaked an unknown amount of crude oil over more than a quarter-mile swath in northeastern North Dakota, state environmental regulators said Wednesday. State Environmental Quality Chief Dave Glatt told The Associated Press that regulators were notified late Tuesday night of the leak near Edinburg, in Walsh County. Glatt said pipeline owner TC Energy shut down the pipeline after the leak was detected. The cause of the spill is under investigation.

Land affected by Keystone pipeline leak bigger than thought

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – An oil spill from the Keystone pipeline in eastern North Dakota has affected almost 10 times the amount of land as first reported.

State environmental scientist Bill Suess said Monday the leak reported on Oct. 29 is now estimated to have affected about 209,100 square feet of land near Edinburg.

State regulators had said the leak affected about 22,500 square feet of land.

TC Energy reported the pipeline leaked an estimated 383,000 gallons of oil. Suess says that estimate has not changed.

Full court press legal strategy paid off! Challenged every permit and made them fight for it, and LNG price dropped to 1/3 of what it was when the project was announced. We won!
