Couple things about the hit. He had force on the medial or middle portion of his leg. That made his leg bend inward, which is more natural movement. Just think of when you cross your legs. Now try to going the other way. The two lateral collateral ligaments, medial and lateral, the lateral or outside one took the strain of the hit. It has likely has more flexibility in all of us. His ACL,MCL never looked stress in that hit. Furhter, it is definitely important that he was airborn. A lateral force hit on a planted leg prouces on of the most terrible injuries in orthopedics. RGIII's was almost the complete opposite from a force of injury perspective. I don't think anyone but RGIII knows what stress that LCL is under right now. But, although the hit looked devastating, he definite was fortunate for a lot of reasons.

NEW YORK -- DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings has been suspended one game without pay for striking O.J. Mayo of the Dallas Mavericks in the groin area, it was announced Wednesday by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.

The incident occurred with 3:35 remaining in the second quarter of Sacramento's 119-96 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, Dec. 10 at American Airlines Center.

Cousins will serve his suspension tonight when the Kings visit the Milwaukee Bucks at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee.
