SkinsNoles21
I know we have a thread for cuts ... but I feel like David Garrard getting axed by Del Rio and the Jags needed it's own thread for discussion. Is Garrard someone the Skins look at? Me personally ... no thanks. He's DMac part two ... I say we stick with Grossman.
@DCGoldPants
No...and that's why I posted the same news in the around the league section. Makes no sense to sign him here at this point in the rebuild. http://www.extremeskins.com/showthread.php?353117-David-Garrad-Cut-in-Jax
TSO
They cut him, really? My God what are they thinking? This should be interesting.
Unforgiven
Wow....that came out of nowhere. He was the #1 QB a few days ago set to start the season. This will be interesting though, that means McCown is now the starting QB with Gabbert right behind him. Odds of Gabbert being the starting QB by the end of the season? High. As far as the 'Skins are concerned, nope....no thanks.
Rdskn4Lyf21
Nope....really simple.
greenspandan
i've always liked garrard. i think he can play in this league. but there is no reason for the redskins to ADD to the qb controversy at this point!
Coolio47
Is Garrard someone the Skins look at? ಠ_ಠSure as hell hope not. I always thought Garrard was overrated, and I don't see the Skins picking up another QB unless one goes down with an injury.
bulldog
Garrard has a lot of the same issues as McNabb. Aging player used to making plays on the outside with his feet and who as a pocket passer is erratic and is off target at times. Why would we want him in this system? Kyle Shanahan's system if you watch Matt Schaub execute it properly is about precision and making the right reads. Not what Garrard has shown over his career. GaryGreenMonk
good lord, why did they cut him? .. we should in no way consider picking him up.. that sounds much more tank the seasonish than what we did.
HRNY4ZRNY
no gracias. Grossman, Beck and Luck thats all I want.
authentic
I don't know what they're thinking either.... I mean really, for Luke McCown? ...and the espn power rankings has them @ #19, while we're sitting @ #29. ...Otherwise, No bro, Garrard has no business here. KCClybun
NO. We have two friggin' quarterbacks already. No. Just friggin' no. The Redskins do not have to take a look at every player that gets cut from another team. No. We shouldn't have interest. And we won't. We've got two quarterbacks that know our system. No. No no no. No.
The Tris
good lord, why did they cut him? They had eight million reasons to cut a stopgap QB.
Hitman21ST
They had eight million reasons to cut a stopgap QB. Only he wasn't a stopgap. He was a pretty good starter for them.
Saqs
No. Waste of a roster spot. Stay the course.
KCClybun
They had eight million reasons to cut a stopgap QB. So they couldn't restructure his contract, like, way before the season started?
The Tris
Only he wasn't a stopgap. He was a pretty good starter for them. As soon as they traded up to draft Gabbert, he became a stop gap. So they couldn't restructure his contract, like, way before the season started? Why? He is a player in decline. Only a rear-looking franchise would have kept someone like DG. hailtotheskins69
I would definitely say absolutely not. But I honestly couldn't believe it when I read it!
The Tris
According to Football Outsiders DVOA predictions, there is no change in the Jags predicted wins or playoff odds with McCown starting over Garrard.

grhqofb5
I remember when he was at East Carolina and he chuck a football from about the 50 yard line into some bushes behind the endzone. The announcers were crowing about how strong his arm was. I was thinking "damn. He just missed his receiver by 15 yards."
HailB&G
Garrard is awful, that's why the Jags cut him. The sooner Gabbert starts (by week 5 is my guess), the sooner they can stop the weekly blackouts of home games. At least people will buy some tickets for a month or so to see if Gabbert is any good.
