They wanted to see what Beck can do in game settings during the preseason so they can work on it in practice while Rex starts. Eventually he WILL have a dud game, and that's when the Beck people will rise up again. Maybe the staff is waiting for that too, giving Beck some time to train more and giving Rex a fair shot with this offense that he knows so well. I'm not really sure what source JLC still has in the organization, but he is anti-redskins and I would think Shanahan would be very aware of information being dissseminated by the staff, particularly this type of sensitive information.
