Corcaigh
I imagine most people have been kept in the dark about Spurlin's ties to the Salafist Group for Call and Combat, the Manuel Rodriguez Patriotic Front, the National Liberation Army, Al-Jihad, the Revolutionary Nuclei, Revolutionary Organization 17 November, the Revolutionary People's Struggle, Al-Ummah, Asbat al-Ansar, Hezbollah, Harakat ul-Ansar, and the Flaming Knights Rampant of the Third Berserker Church (ok, I made the last one up). Furthermore, Virgil Spurlin is an anagram of Lip Slur Virgin. It all adds up.
Guest Spearfeather
His high school band director, Virgil Spurlin? :whoknows: Nah, .... I was thinking more of this guy. "Like many Arkansans, I have long regarded Senator William Fulbright as both a role model and a mentor," said the President. "The Fulbright scholarships are his most lasting achievement." http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/index.php?pid=46111#axzz1SWNWGsvu
techboy
"Like many Arkansans, I have long regarded Senator William Fulbright as both a role model and a mentor," said the President. "The Fulbright scholarships are his most lasting achievement." So, let me see. Bill Clinton had as a mentor, in the 1960s, a southerner who was born in 1905, and who supported segregation in the 1960s (and who apparently later rejected these postions, and you feel like this is some kind of parallel to a candidate possibly associating with a white supremacist 50 years later? You don't suppose the slightly different historical contexts are important to note?

Like many others, his character evolved greatly over the years. He went from being a segregationist in the 50s to being a civil rights advocate in the 1960s and beyond. Much like Robert Byrd. Interesting choice Spearfeather. What point were you trying to make here?

Barney B
Interesting choice Spearfeather. What point were you trying to make here? Maybe he's noting that Bill Clinton was an obvious racist? Didn't Cynthia McKinney once complain that Bill Clinton never had sex with her?
Thiebear
Michele is not physically capable to run the country: Next candidate please. The Minnesota Republican frequently suffers from stress-induced medical episodes that she has characterized as severe headaches. These episodes, say witnesses, occur once a week on average and can “incapacitate” her for days at time. On at least three occasions, Bachmann has landed in the hospital as a result. Baculus
I had originally posted a long rebuttal to Techboy, but I am not going to change the change his mind, and I have no idea why he thinks he is going to change mine. BTW, TB, here are two suggestions: (1) Don't complain about "unwarranted assumptions" when you've been throwing them out the whole time. (2) Be consistent, e.g.,don't question my criticism against Cain, and then say, "I brought up Herman Cain myself!" Who give a flying rights ass, then? That's obnoxious and pointless. You keep asking, "Do you think I am an idiot"? It's obvious you want to play the "persecuted" victim, even though I tried to turn the other cheek and walk away, twice, so I can answer this honestly now: Yes, yes I do. Congratulations -- you got what you wanted!
The Evil Genius
Bachman predicted the world was ending in 2006. Awesome. BACHMANN: Lord, the day is at hand. We are in the last days. You are a Jehovah God. We know that the times are in your hands. And we give them to you…The day is at hand, Lord, when your return will come nigh. Nothing is more important than bringing sheep into the fold. Than bringing new life into the kingdom…You have weeded that garden. The harvest is at hand. Definitely, he deserves criticism where his views are worthy of such criticism. ---------- Post added July-19th-2011 at 06:20 PM ---------- Bachman predicted the world was ending in 2006. Awesome. Unsurprising, coming from a nutjob such as Bachmann.
techboy
(1) Don't complain about "unwarranted assumptions" when you've been throwing them out the whole time. Please list them. Seriously. Be consistent, e.g.,don't question my criticism against Cain Please quote the text where I questioned your criticism against Cain, except in the sense that it was irrelevant to Michele Bachmann. You keep asking, "Do you think I am an idiot"? It's the only rational explanation I can come up with to explain how you can think I secretly want to defend Michele Bachmann, despite the course of this thread. It has nothing to do with playing the victim, as I don't actually care. I've been called worse. It's obvious you want to play the "persecuted" victim, even though I tried to turn the other cheek and walk away, twice, so I can answer this honestly now: Yes, yes I do. Well, at least your position makes sense now.
