I believe that is the case. The owners don't want the union to decertify because they want the players to fold in August.

And even if there is a lockout or strike, the players can still organize together as long as no coaches or team influence is there (after the strike/lockout).

That's the problem with not having a true leader on offense right now. Stupid McNabb.

Maybe there is 32 muti millionairs out there that would like to start a whole new league ??

Just keep all the players where they are and start over.

Of course then we would have to find a new name for our team...................

I am recording the DB's to watch later tonight. Is anybody blowing it up right now that would warrant our 10 spot?

I think after Patrick Peterson - you'd be hard pressed to warrant spending a #10 on any of them. I'm not totally sold on Prince.

Thing about Peterson is that you've seen him match up the last few years against arguably the unquestioned top-2 WR in the draft: Julio Jones and AJ Green. He's handled his own.

I can't say that I've seen Prince play against that kind of talent

Justin Blackmon is better than either of those guys IMO. Prince did OK on him--as well as anyone has, at least. I expect Blackmon to make NFL corners look like idiots on day 1.

I think Mayock mentioned that he was going to show tape today of Prince against someone (maybe Blackmon) who "toasted" him. Apparently it was a couple of big plays and Mayock intimated that it wasn't Prince's fault. I can't watch now but I'll look for this later.

Peterson will go in the top 3. Prince will be the #2 corner and he'll be gone by the 12th pick or so. Maybe Dallas at #9.

I'll give you that Blackmon is good (better than Jones/Green...m'eh) but a quick look at the stats shows that he had one of his more productive games last year against Nebraska. 5 rec. 157 yds. 2 tds. Blackmon finished the season with 1000 more yards than anyone else on their offense...so to think that there were others targets on the field besides him, that Prince would cover, is tough.

I think Prince is a damn good corner...but I wouldn't take him top 10. Especially with the rest of the talent on the board

I scanned the video and I think one of the examples is at the 2 minute mark, where Prince saw the safety bite on the play action when he was passing off the WR and then tried to catch up to make the play. I'd try to watch NFL total access and see Mayock break it down with more camera angles.

He didn't say Prince played great, but he said that a few big plays that weren't his fault contributed to the massive stats put up "against" him.

I don´t care about Ahmad Blacks time and stuff...he is just a baller who makes plays.

I don't normally get caught up in 40 times but for a FS his size (any size for that matter) that time is a real worry. You would have to question is ability to cover sideline to sideline in cover 1 and he would be a liability in man. I mean there are DEs running similar times.

like I was saying, Prince just did OK against Blackmon. He had basically no safety help.

I do agree that I'd pass on him at #10 though. I don't see the ball skills that you'd like to see in a top corner.

Agreed. I think Prince is a good player who will go before pick 15, but I don't want him in DC. I hope he goes before our pick to push talent at a bigger position of need down. Everything I have seen has the Cowboys pining for corner help. However, knowing Jerry, they will execute a trade down.

Prediction: Dallas trades down with St. Louis who takes Julio Jones at #9.

Good prediction. Dallas screws us and gets their Spears replacement in Jordan or Watt but Jones might be gone by #6.

Don't sweat it. If two QBs and two WR's go before we pick there will be some VERY good defensive talent available.

Amukamara is a better cornerback than Patrick Peterson is... right now. He plays with better footwork and balance, better hand technique, is a better tackler, and reads his keys better. Amukamara absolutely deserves to get taken in the top 10. He's the best senior prospect in the class by a fair margin.

Peterson is younger though, and is faster, bigger, and stronger. You're valuing him based on what you think he'll become when you compare him against Amukamara. He's got higher potential than pretty much any corner ever. He's a Sean Taylor or Eric Berry like DB prospect.

Also, FWIW, Julio Jones ran Peterson all over the field the past two seasons. He gave him some fits.

I disagree. Amukamara has phenomenal ball skills. He's got a background as an offensive skill position player and return specialist.

He closes on the ball as well as anyone in the country and I think he's probably third nationwide in PBU's the past two seasons with 24. Third among the best prospects in the country at least (Brandon and Cliff Harris both have 25). He also had 5 interceptions in 2009, some showing off spectacular concentration, hands, and body control.

Amukamara is an extremely clean CB prospect. He has no major weaknesses, is proficient to good at almost every aspect of the position, and boasts elite ability in certain areas which make him special (tackling and instincts, field vision, short area explosion, clicking and closing on the ball). Hence all of the Darrelle Revis comparisons he draws.

Strong points and I had no doubt that you would stand to rebuke everything that I believe :ols:

I think I just have a bias for SEC talent and the competition level

Prince Amukamara is a magician.

He makes WRs that can't beat press coverage disappear.

Jermaine Jearse is still missing somewhere between Washington and Nebraska.

I'd still take Peterson first though, his return ability tips the scale for me.

Agreed. Press man coverage is probably his worst assignment too, and he's better at it than most. Amukamara is a demon when he plays off man and off zone. He sees the field better than anyone else and has superb instincts. It also helps that he can close like a lightning bolt and almost never misses tackles so he's got the type of game where he'll be near the top of the league in deflections and tackles for a cornerback.

But I agree that Peterson is the better overall prospect because he's got God-give gifts which you almost never see at the position. A 220+ pound corner running flat 4.3s which his combination of length, explosion, and instincts is probably once in a generation. He's like a huge version of Champ Bailey (ran a 4.29 or something at his combine).

Amukamara's return ability is probably a bit undersold. If you can, go back and watch some of his highschool highlights as a running back. Basically it's a long stream of enormous runs where he weaves through the defense for about 100 yards total before he scores. He's elusive and quick and has deadly vision.

Amukamara hasn't been the playmaker in the return game that Peterson has though. Fast as he is, he's just not as fast as Peterson. That's probably why I would take Peterson over Amukamara. The superiority of Amukamara's instincts to Peterson's isn't marked enough that you should drop Peterson for it.
