SacBee.com: Niners QB Donovan McNabb? Vernon Davis is all for it

The 49ers will need to find a new quarterback (or three) in the offseason, and Vernon Davis said he'd be happy with one in particular. "Oh man - I'd love to catch some passes from Donovan McNabb," Davis said in an interview on the T.Ocho Show, which airs tonight at 7:30 p.m. (PST) on Versus.

The guy asking about McNabb? None other than Terrell El Dorado Owens, who has feuded with several quarterbacks, none more publicly than McNabb. During their interview, which was taped yesterday, Owens notes that McNabb could be available on the free-agent market. Although McNabb is under contract with the Redskins, there is a good chance the Redskins release him in a money-saving move before the 2011 season.

McNabb might be attractive to the 49ers because he is a veteran who is well-versed in the West Coast offense that new coach Jim Harbaugh will install this offseason. However, he also was available last offseason. The 49ers considered him but ultimately decided to rest their season on Alex Smith instead.

Here's a clip of tonight's interview between Owens and Davis - perhaps the two most explosive 49ers

He's right DMac would be a perfect fit for San Fran. A 2nd rounder sounds just about right or we might settle for a 3rd & 4th for dMac & a 5th. :)
Getting another 2nd round pick or a 3rd/4th package would be huge on so many levels. There is a lot of talent in this draft.

Hahaha this blog suggests that the redskins are going to straight up release Mcnab?!?! McNab knows he wont get straight up release when the team has invested multiple draft picks. Yeah, he would like to "choose" where he goes, but he knows as well as everyone else in the league knows that the NFL is a business - and that move would be bad business for the skins... There is a reason the skins got him to sign that strange contract and Mcnab wasn't blind when he signed it. Skins have leverage over him and no team will wait till the first game to pick him up.

Eventually a team will crack and give up at least a 4th or 5th round pick....a matter of time is all it is.

The Redskins will not release Donovan McNabb, that would be an epic failure.

I dunno, Shanny released Jason 'for his own good'. Wanted him to go ahead and get a head start on finding a well, starting job somewhere. After telling him he would start for the Redskins. It was a pretty nice move, and yes, he could have got SOMETHING for Jason. Donovan's even said he'd like to play here next year, which helps the whole "they're gonna release him anyway" mindset. Perhaps Donovan doesn't actually hate this team, he's the stand up guy he is, and he said that to help us. Other guys would come out and say they wanted out NOW, which really hurts the chances of getting anything for a trade. Is that too much of a stretch? ;)

We did get something for Jason.

Jason....Campbell? We traded him to Oakland. He wasn't released, and we did get compensation, as poor as it was.

Lazy & dumb? You're joking right? Even the most ardent McNabb haters probably think you are

Not a joke. Lazy and Dumb.

No I am probably one of the smartest- test scores and degrees to prove it. But more importantly, I easily called the McPOS epic fail and the Shanny problems way before the first preseason game.
