pram11
I know Shanny said his staff would return, but that was before Cable became available. Will he look at him as OL coach? I only ask because of the way our line played most of the season and more notably, Cable was a guy on Shanny's short list of OL coaches last year had he been fired. Thoughts? Cable in Oakland they ran more of a power scheme it seemed like so he wouldn't be a good fit when we run a ZBS
jflow78
You pretty much answered your own question, Shanahan already said his coaching group would coming back. I don't think that was based on whether or not Cable became available.
HigSkin
You might want to change your thread title to something like...How about Tom Cable as our OL coach? or something like that. Mods get real sticky about just stating names.
Chase M
I just saw this on ESPN. Would be down for the idea.
Darth Tater
I think Pitt should hire Cable now that they've fired their new coach.

SirClintonPortis
Cable in Oakland they ran more of a power scheme it seemed like so he wouldn't be a good fit when we run a ZBS Cable lives and breathes ZBS. Al Davis lives and breathes power. There was compromise. For example, Jared Velheer is a ZBS fit.
Dukes and Skins
Cable lives and breathes ZBS. Al Davis lives and breathes power. Well I stand corrected it just seemed like they ran more of a power especially with Hue Jackson as the OC
Crazy Levi
I'm kinda surprised they canned him. Why keep the guy around for a 2nd year when you are just going to fire him after a big improvement and undefeated conference record? Seems odd. But hey that's Davis, or as I like to call him, Snyder in 2050.
DarrellsMyHero28
I think Pitt should hire Cable now that they've fired their new coach. Fire a guy for beating up his baby momma, hire a guy that punched out one of his assistant coaches. Brilliant!
pram11
Seems Cable is a ZBS guy: http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2009/03/23/al-davis-cables-zone-blocking-scheme-and-some-compromisin/
Boss_Hogg
hmmm, it would be nice to have a guy that could punch out Danny Boy. I keed But this won't happen, Shanahan has already said he is bringing back everyone next year.
Gibbs Hog Heaven
I actually thought the line got steadily better as the year progressed under Forrester. Not great by any means, but surely all you can ask for is improvement as you go along? Hail.
Warpath11
While putting his staff together, last year, Shanahan, waited until Cable was retained by Oakland to hire Forester. Cable was Shanahans first choice as o-line coach if he got fired last year. It will be intersting to see if Shanahan goes back to that well this offseason now that Cable is available. I presonally would be in favor of such a move. It could net us Robert Gallery in free agency as an upgrade at guard.
Gibbs Hog Heaven
..... It could net us Robert Gallery in free agency as an upgrade at guard. Just say NO to 30 year old veterans. We should have a cut off point of 27 max, and only then for proven guys that fit. More so we need to be looking at guys 25/26 at a push or under if we want to build this right and for the long term. Hail.

Good point I didnt realize he was quite that old...but the bottom line is Cable would be an excellent O-line coach. He is sure to land somewhere. Darc Requiem
Fire a guy for beating up his baby momma, hire a guy that punched out one of his assistant coaches.Brilliant! You have a better point than you think. Cable has had issues with slapping around women as well. I wouldn't hire him. With him around our cheerleaders would end up looking Caroline Panther cheerleaders. I prefer Burgundy & Gold to Black & Blue personally.
