The Top 5 things YOU would change to this Organization

@DCGoldPants

Recommended Posts

I'd add these:

  • Focus your acquisitions policy on promising draftees and FAs who are solid but not spectacular; look for guys who are very underrated and get them rather than spending more on a guy where expectations are high.
  • Invest heavily in player personnel experts and address the lack of starters and depth across the board over 2-3 years.
  • Hire some great football minds to analyze the scheme trends of successful teams with an eye toward figuring out where systems are going (in other words what NE will roll out as their new offense in 2013), and beating everyone else there.

1} Snyder; make him sell the team to anybody

2] Stadiums; go back to RFK

3] Those god awful puke inducing loud ass yellow pants. sorry, I tried to get used to them but it ain't working

4] Kyle Shannahan; demote him to towel boy or water boy, ANYTHING

5] Jim Haslett; the man has been a failure everywhere he's been; the few things that went right on teams he was on was all player skill, nothing coaching related that he's done to improve any team, anywhere...

As another super happy fun season is coming to a close, I think this would be a good time for some constructive feedback from the fans.

If you could change 5 things within the Redskins Organization, what would they be?

here is my list.

5. Replace Danny Smith with a new Special Teams Coach

4. Improve the FedEx experience (better security from drunken idiots, and less ads at every stop of play)

3. 100% new broadcast booth. Sam is slipping, Sonny sounds cranky, and Larry is awful.

2. No more trading picks from the first 4 rounds for players on other rosters (for at least 2 offseasons)

1. For team leadership to pull a Leonsis, get in front of the mic and be honest with the fans that this process will take time and that includes making some painful choices that don't equal immediate results.

I'm copying this and sending it via Fed-Ex (very ironic) with my son's letter to Santa.

If these 5 things happened there would be MUCH rejoicing throughout the land.

1) Snyder sells the team (why this isn't everyone's #1 is beyond belief).

2) Make efforts to improve and increase resourcing for the Scout Department (Everyone always touts that Snyder spends money so why doesn't he spend money there?).

That's it for me

Here's a recent article regarding a new stadium....sounds like we're stuck in Landover until 2027 :(

http://www.csnphilly.com/11/30/10/Redskins-to-Leave-FedEx-Field-/landing_word_fball.html?blockID=363768&feedID=4684

I would guess that the US losing out on the World Cup likely hurt our chances for a new stadium any time soon as well. Don't think the DC/Baltimore area has any Olympic bids planned either.

1. I'd make NFL refs full time employees and I'd fire blatant biased officials because without it you look like your a

2. Players would get suspended a full season without pay for any "guilty" police infraction other than non-criminal traffic citations. Any off season shenanigans result in a 1 year suspension. You are role models you will live like it.

3. The media that supports the league would have to be unbiased and 100% neutral and also police the league for possible cheating. Announcers should target bad officiating on both sides during the game.

4. Rookie salary caps for sure.

5. Players like Haynesworthless who are obviously detrimental to the team could be suspended indefinitely without pay and would have to be reinstated to the league. If they were innocent then they would be reimbursed full pay X2 making it so the team will only do it as a last resort with evidence.

Welcome to the new improved NFL where your team gets the chance to win.

Oh we are talking the Redskins I though it was how to change the NFL..my bad!

I'll focus my five on improving Fed Ex Field and the game day experience.

1. Repay the money taken from Federal Express and rename the stadium Redskins Stadium.

2. Take a little less advertising money and use some of that air time during TV timeouts to pump up the fans, show great plays, honor former players, etc. Every inch of the stadium that could be used to honor / celebrate the Redskins has been used to place an advertisement. A little less of that. Oh and turn the volums down just a bit.

3. Reduce the prices for the concessions. Allow people to bring food into the stadium like the previous owner did at the previous stadium.

4. Reduce the price of parking. (It has been raised from $10 to $20 to $25 to $35 this millenium. Average parking in the NFL is $18.)

5. Add an escalator to the upper level. The walk to the upper level, where the majority of the seats are, is a tremendously difficult walk for an elderly person or someone with a handicap. Plus it is so crowded it’s dangerous. I’ve seen a few people get knocked over and stepped on. I have never been to one game where they were working properly. Not one.

In no particular order:

Lower ticket, parking, and concession prices to make games more affordable to families.

Create a MUCH better game-day experience for EVERYONE to enjoy.

Crack down on public drunkenness, limit on beer sales, and enforce the right to deny service to someone who's had too much.

Permanently go back to the old-school uniforms with the gold pants and gold helmet.

Change the team's name.

1 - trade, Trade, TRADE!!! - Moss, Davis/Cooley, Haynesworth, Carter. I dont care if they only net us a 7th round pick each.

2 - cut, Cut, CUT!!! - Portis, Rabach, Sellers

3 - Let Rogers and McIntosh walk, both will net us a comp pick.

4 - Open the wallet and sign the best FA Gs and C out there

5 - Open the wallet and sign the best college scouts on available.

Thats 6 extra picks to go with the 7 we already have. 13 picks to spend or move around in the draft. We could also move back since we will be picking top 10. We could easily walk away with well over 15 picks in the draft. Time to get young.

3/4 (trade for Cooley/Davis)

4 (comp for Rogers)

4 (trade for Haynesworth)

5

Comments like this are exactly why im soo glad fans dont have a say on team management.

You want to trade moss who will be a great slot received once we get a #1 receiver

You then want to get rid of one tight end while cutting our FB. You might want to keep both tigh ends if you are going to do that. You then want to hand out money to the best guards and centers that are free agents. Which could be C list players that are over 30.

You wont get get anything for haynesworth teams already know we are going to release him.

1 - Develop a team identity above the head coach of the team. I don't need or want big name former super bowl winning head coaches (none of which have ever duplicated their success in their second iteration with a different club). Coaches will be selected the same way players are chosen, to fit the general identity of the club. I wouldn't bring in coaches preaching a offense or defense that doesn't fit the personnel decisions and general direction of the franchise. This way the coach ceases to be a reset button. The Colts and Steelers did this and their clubs didn't have a down decade trying to find the next formula.

2 - Separate head coach and GM responsibilities. I'm not a believer in wearing too many hats and I think coaches do their best work when they don't. Some coaches however are brilliant at this so I'd leave a door open to an eventual larger role on player decisions over time if and when it makes sense. No coach would come in to destroy and rebuild the roster however. They will coach the players they are given and if they can't handle that they will coach somewhere else. The same goes for their staff. If a coordinator or other coach on their staff under performs the GM will be tasked with removing them.

3 - A dedication to developing talent. Free agents are needed in the NFL and every team engages in free agency but you can't buy a championship. For every big play made by a Brandon Marshall there are 20 plays made by lesser known players that don't make sports center. You need a great deal more good/capable player than you need stars and when you find them you need to recognize what you have and try to keep them. An environment of respect from the club for hard fought achievements by lesser known players is a good thing. Draft, develop, and respect more than just he next big name.

4 - Inside out build philosophy 100% of the time. If the lines are bad you don't know what you have on the perimeter because time is against them. I don't want to hear about wide outs and corner until my lines perform as needed, which is not to say entirely populated with 1st round draft picks. They have to be good and deep as a first priority. It isn't pretty and they don't sell as much merchandise but good lines win games, and winning teams sell more stuff.

5 - Home field advantage is a must. Adapt stadium pricing and availability to get as many real fans in as possible. Wine and cheese fans are garbage that need to be shown the way to a lazy boy in some ultra gay loft in DC where they better fit their surroundings. The stadium is for real redskin fans that give a damn, show up to watch the games instead of ebaying tickets because it might be cold, and make a lot of noise. The fans are your customers and improving their experience should be every business owners priority. Add security personnel as needed to remove drunks.

Danny Smith has done a decent job on special teams. It's not his fault some of the players make boneheaded plays.

.

Yes it is.

It most specifically is.

If a coach's players make boneheaded plays again and again and again... it is most definitely the coach's fault.

5.Look at New england, Pittsburgh, and Philly's front offices. If they're doing something we're not, do it. If we're doing something they're not, stop it.

4. If not a new stadium, some baffling at the top to direct the crowd noise back in to the field. Give us the home field advantage 100,000 seats is supposed to have.

3. Fire Danny Smith and all of his specialists. Kickers, punters, long snapper, the lot of them. On a bus. Now. Immediate positive impact.

2.Indoor practice facility

1.Stop trading valuable picks. Become more of a shark and work on getting rid of the reputation of overpaying easily duped trade chumps.

Beer is the only thing the keeps my group sane during the games...especially last 3 years...90% of drunkness I have seen as been from opposing fans or our fans reacting to jack offs. Its been posted before, but the two Va Tech games had the best atmosphere ever. People licked up but having fun, STANDING during the game and getting incredibly loud. None of this 'quiet offense at work' crap...

I was at both Virginia Tech games, and we were all quiet when Virginia Tech had the ball :)

Being quiet on offense is pretty critical to home field advantage and the signs of a smart fan base

1. Rename the stadium Jack Kent Cooke Stadium (FedEx is just to commercial)

2. Reduce the prices of concessions, except beer (I'm mormon...just kidding)

3. Improve the parking lot experience for tailgating (Have parking lot packs...aka cheerleaders...that go around handing out little Skins trinkets, taking pictures, getting fans motivated to be at the game)

4. Hire a defensive coordinator (oops, do we have one?)

5. Catapult Albert Haynesworth into the middle of the Atlantic Ocean

Alright GlenAllen. Welcome to the board. Read my post more carefully. I am aware of the escalator that already exists. I believe another one and both working properly would enhance the game day experience. It is never fully operational on all levels every week.

The elevators are for the exclusive use of club level ticketholders - Not general admission ticketholders on the upper level unless they ae handicapped.

Most educated fans understand the quiet on offense, loud on defense principle. I'm surprised you don't.

Younger doesn't always mean better.

Of course it doesn't. But older has NEVER meant better since Snyder took over. The Skins are always average (or worse) and always old.

Clearly this needs to change.

I'd be all for a youth movement...there is one happening right now! Armstrong, Orakpo, Banks, Torrain, Williams, a few other dudes...these are the bright spots. It needs to continue.

Everyone on this team 29 or older needs to be on the trading block. They all need to be aggressively shopped for draft picks.

I like all those things, but one that gets me...

Am I crazy, or am I the only one that remembers Shanny pretty much DID tell us to be patient, it's a rebuilding process. He said that. I don't know how some of you would like him to word it, but you certainly can't call him dishonest with the fans.

I guess the signing of McNabb made you think otherwise, or the signing of anyone near 30...but you have to fill the holes from somewhere, you can't just have ALL undrafted 20 year olds going into this season...you'd be asking for 0-16.

As has been said before, if Shanny says to everyone "we're NOT winning a superbowl this year so forget about it" that doesn't help anything. There's is absolutely NOTHING this team can say that will make the fans 100% happy. Oh, we will find something. And if he said that, we would be wanting our ******* coach outta here. He said "it's a process. A long process" more times than I can remember in the offseason. People know it's rebuilding, don't act like the way Shanny words it will really make a difference.

I'm with you on this. I don't believe I've heard anything from the organization except that it would take time. Now maybe season ticket holders are getting a different message with every piece of literature they are getting, but down here in NC, I certainly don't get the impression they promised even the playoffs this year.
