2006Skins
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/red...n-activat.html By Jason Reid Finally acknowledging what has been obvious for weeks, the Redskins on Saturday released unproductive wide receiver Joey Galloway and signed rookie wideout Terrence Austin from the practice squad to fill the opening on the 53-man roster. A 16-year veteran, Galloway has contributed little in his first season with the Redskins, catching only 12 passes for 173 yards in 10 games. After the embarrassing 59-28 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan criticized Galloway, who opened the season as a starter, for his performance on a play that resulted in an interception. The Redskins selected Austin in the seventh round (219th overall) of the 2010 draft. Also a return specialist, Austin spent the first 11 weeks of the season on the practice squad after he did not make the opening roster out of training camp. Had to figure it was coming. Long overdue in my opinion. Time to see what Austin has. Edit: Must have missed the earlier thread. Didn't see it. Apologies mods
XEL
FINALLY. We've got a lot of speed in our receivers now.. Just the securing the ball part..
jnhay
It makes no sense to me how he was our second receiver at the start of the season.
Chachie
FINALLY. We've got a lot of speed in our receivers now.. Just the securing the ball part.. Not that I oppose the move in any way but.. Joey Galloway wasn't fast? That's all he was at this stage of his game.
Llevron
Not that I oppose the move in any way but.. Joey Galloway wasn't fast? That's all he was at this stage of his game. I agree that all he had was speed left at this point. I think there is a good chance that the Kid will run better routs than Galloway though. I remember him being praised for his intelligence more than anything. I look forward to see these little guys running around the field.
XEL
Galloway still had straight line speed, but (and I'm saying this with limited knowledge) Austin should be quicker entering his cuts.
Thirtyfive2seven
Hell yea! Great move. I'm very excited to see what the youngsters can do. Let em rip!
cphil006
He stopped/slowed on a route and it made Donnie Mac look like he made a poor throw
jflow78
I would just like to say, that's what we get for signing a former Cowboy. We've gotten a TON younger this season, if you include cutting Larry Johnson and all the guys on IR, with all our new young talent at RB and hopefully some receivers we can count on in the coming years, Armstrong (not as old as Galloway), Banks, and Austin. Hopefully we can transfer some of that youth movement to the DL and OL this off season. Thanks for the hard work Joey, and great job Terrance, I hope you're a difference maker. Can't wait to see what you've got.
WorshiptheMonk81
So soon????? Galloway was having a breakout year too. Oh well , time for a up and coming player to TRY and fill in the huge hole Joey has left in this Redskin offense.
MonkFan8
Austin looked great in the pre-season. I have high hopes for him.
MasterSplinter
Awesome news, Galloway was just a stop gap anyway and he wasn't even performing so it honestly made no sense to have him out there. Let Austin play, let him make some mistakes and develop. I'm excited to see what the guy can do, I remember how hyped everyone was about him during training camp. cphil006
Austin looked great in the pre-season. I have high hopes for him. His production can't be any worse than Galloway's. Except Austin might actually give more effort.
cphil006
Coming out of college, Galloway was among the top 3 in the draft... Galloway, JJ Stokes, and.... Michael Westbrook!!!
Grimm
Great move, time to see what some of the young guys can do.
WhodatSkinsFan?
He stopped/slowed on a route and it made Donnie Mac look like he made a poor throw ACTUALLY, on several routes... I would put at LEAST 4 int's on him... if NOT more What took so long???

ZoEd
ACTUALLY, on several routes...I would put at LEAST 4 int's on him... if NOT more What took so long??? I was just telling a buddy of mine this same thing the other day. There has been several int's where he was the target and he either didn't make a play on the ball or it looked like he ran a poor route. I thight I was seeing things. darrelgreenie
I think Joey Galloway was here to show the young WRs how to prepare and approach the game as a professional. At the same time he wasn't able to get it done on the field (dude is like 40 years old) and i'm glad his targets will go to more worthy players. I suspect that Joey Galloway's targets will go to Armstrong and Fred Davis before Austin.
LHSLax_D24
Galloway was thrown to 38 times. He only had 12 catches, with 5 interceptions. EDIT: McNabb has thrown 12 interceptions. 41.7% were to Galloway,
