In a general sense, not this specific example, but when there's a goal line call—the ref, IMO, should allow the goal. Historically, in all matters of interpretation, the refs have been instructed to give the benefit of the doubt to the ATTACKER.

Scoring a goal creates a natural stoppage of play where it can be reviewed via video. NBC has it up within seconds and the players aren't even done celebrating.

If you can manage it at work, get on to the Swansea Liverpool game.

2-1 Liverpool half-time, but a fantastic game of pure football that you'd expect from one of the all time greats Michael Laudrup and his Swansea predecessor BR. Three great goals. Shelvey put Swansea 1 up, the messed up twice for Sturridge and Moses goals.

After the dross of Lambeau, this is absolutely sublime.

Fair result. Dominated the first half. Swansea did the same the second.

Sakho looked nervous on his debut. Moses scored a real good goal. Aspas is worse than *****. He's like playing a man down when he's on the park. TOTALLY out of his depth at this level. And as we said back in the summer, Shelvey was let go FAR too early.

10 points from 12. Game clear of Citeh, Utd and Chelsea. Took 10 games last year to get to the same points total. So a vast improvement and a pretty good opening 4 games to the year.

Hail.

I really wish someone at Fox Sports HQ would look at the CL and see that there are more teams in it than the English contingent and Real Madrid and Barca.

It is ridiculous that the holders, Bayern, aren't shown on any of the 3 different channels in the US (FoxSport1, FoxSport2, FoxDeportes) AT ALL this first week.  We got to see replays of the City/United/RM games, along with nominal programming.  It is a farce!!!

So things finally turning around.  After getting laid off I've now found a position as a youth program specialist for soccer along with my current season in CVSA.  Funny enough my new job says to not worry about having to be away different days due to league games because they want me to teach anything I learn.  Basically anything I learn translates into my teachings.

Congrats, RR88.  Hope it goes well.

Just curious - what specifically do they want you to do as the 'youth program specialist'?  Sounds like a great gig!!

Messi is not human. Ramsey is on the run of his life. Milan struggled and spluttered to the win. Reina beats Dortmund.

And LMFAO @ Chelsea. Oh dear oh dear. But hey, when your best forward is out on loan at Everton, this is what happens.

Fun night.

Hail.

That Chelsea result was fantastic.  I loved every minute of the second half.

And remember, you can't spell "Europa Loss" without "Spurs".

Keep up the run at the Pool.  You guys just may find yourself in the running come next April!!!

Help coach, supervise practices/drills (run everything when the sports director isn't there) , teach them new skills, ref mini games and scrimmages we put the players through.  Youth players are broken down into teams with individual coaches so if we don't have a coach I serve as that coach.  Talk to players about things I've learned over the years and during my league games.  Talk with parents who come to see how their development is going. So basically they want me to do lots of things.

(Kind of funny.  Not too long ago I was a fraud analyst in medicaid trying to protect members from malpractice and such.  Now I'm a youth specialist helping to develop soccer players.  What a change.)

Thanks man, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. It's been a great start results wise, but there's still a LOT of work to be done to close that gap.

And congrats Richmond. Made up for ya'. And hey, if you win just ONE trophy, I do believe you'll be more qualified to run Utd than David Moyes Football Genius!  ;)

Sign me up lol.  Well my league opened yesterday.. We won 2-1 after being down 1-0.  We should have won by 4-1 or 3-1.  I partially blame myself as one of the forwards.  My finishing wasn't there last night and I should have had two goals.  One I can't beat myself to bad for one of them. In the 80th min I shoot a outside foot shot on the ground around the keeper.  It hit the inside of the post and bounced OUT.  The ball was spinning so it should have spun in so the ball defied logic.I got on a breakaway after a defensive error but the defender on my back kicked me repeatedly in the ankle.  I didn't go down because I wanted the goal but kicks slowed me down so much that another defender knocked it for a corner. For some reason the ref didn't do anything about it because it was breakaway and keeper had come out so it was me and him.  The dude cut my ankle so bad my sock literally turned from neon green to blood red.  In the 5th min.  So my team watched as I kept going for about 80 mins on a bloody leg.  This team is basically all new too o I earned a lot of respect for playing on a bad ankle for most of the game.  I just wish I had finished the job and put the ball in the back of the net last night  They subbed me out after the post shot.  The team couldn't believe I didn't score in the game.  When I jogged off the team they just this smirked shaking their heads at me like "It just wasn't meant to be tonight man".

I hate to say anything good about our bitter neighbours from across the park, but that reminds me of Peter Reid against Munich in the second leg of the '85 Cup Winners Cup semi.

That real fine old school German centre-half Klaus Augenthaler caught Reid early with a horrific tackle that littelaly put a big hole in his ankle. His white sock and boot was just red as the blood gushed out. But with the importance if the game, he got bandage up the best they could and played the full game; putting in an awesome midfield display in arguably the finest night Goodison has ever seen as they beat Munich 3-1 to reach the Rotterdam final they'd also go on to win.

Peter Reid. A midfield hard man when the game allowed true hard men. Unlike the over protected, molly coddled pansys of today.

.....

Anywho... looks like LFC are playing for a draw by the looks of this line-up.

Absolutely ******* ridiculous. As you said, it all starts with the manager and his wank team selection. WTF is 4 centre-halves (2 playing full-back) all about? And I'll say it again. Having Aspas on the park is like playing with 10 men. Totally and utterly out of his depth at this level. Mingolet again keeps the score from being even more embarrassing. Should of had a first half penalty for a stonewall foul on Sturridge. But that would of been hard on Southampton at the end of the day who fully deserved the VERY comfortable win.

Flat, uninspiring performance that got what it deserved. Nothing. Abysmal all ways round.

Glad i never paid for that. Praying Suarez is back with a bang Wednesday at the Theatre of Wet Dreams in a game I am paying for.

Another performance as abject as that and Utd will win 3 or 4.

Hail.

Great second half from Everton. Good first half but not much attacking prowess. this game continues to confirm my thoughts. Osman sucks and just constantly gives the ball away and Everton with a top notch forward is dangerous. Lukaku in there created so many chances and really opened up West Ham. Dominating second half. Game wasn't as close as the score indicated. BTW, I dispise Osman.

Yeah I mean definitely proud fighting through the injury but that game hurt in other ways.  When you are forward who is use to making things happen for your team and making difference when they need it its frustrating when you don't deliver.  This is a new team so they still don't know who to rely on.  It was just a fact that when my past teams needed a goal I pushed like hell for it.  I believe a forward's finest moment is when he delivers when his team truly needs it.  When the team was down 1-0 and I got on that break away when I suffered that nasty challenge (without a call) that sliced the ankle all I was thinking is putting that ball in the net and bringing the team back.  Then putting it off the inside of the post on the outside foot shot which would have clinched the game in the 83 min.  Technically I moved myself back to a MF/F position because I was hobbling so I decided to work on good positioning then my usual strength which is speed.  As a forward you need that first goal.  Ask Jozy about what it does to you when you can't score.  I know its one game but I'm sure you get what I'm saying.

Already lost to your most hated rivals? Check.

Big local derby, your first, and against serious title contenders with another massive game against your most hated rivals to come Wednesday? Check.

Leave your best striker on the bench for above game ..... David Moyes Football GENIUS!

Hail.

*Edit* Claiming he has a groin injury but should be ok for Wednesday. Point still stands on Moyes.  :P
