DCBnG21
Hey Everyone, so I'm trying to solicit some ideas for a good location for our ManTrip this year for me and 5 - 6 of my buddies. We've done several football trips (Texas, D.C., Pennsylvania), we went to the Super Bowl city in Detroit (not to the game) and this last year we did Vegas; just because at some point it had to be done. We plan on doing New Orleans here in a year or two, but for this year, we've pretty much decided we are just going to chill. Basically, we are looking for a cabin/home rental that has a private dock on the water where we can fish, grill, drink beer & chill. Access to a large HDTV for football is a must, even if it is just close access to a good sports bar. It would be nice if the weather was at least somewhat warm during the day, but a Montana climate isn't necessarily out of the game - we'll be going in early September; possibly the first week of the season. Anyone have a favorite spot that fits the bill or somewhere they are aware of like this? We've been thinking of the Texas gulf coast (they may or may not have a slight oil spill issue though), Florida, Puerto Rico, North/South Carolina. Any suggestions? The Tris
As long as the oil doesn't get taken up the East Coast by the fall, I think the Outer Banks are a great bet for you for a chill location. Especially if this is a fall trip, you will be out of season, and can get better rates on the rental homes. Good surf fishing, and you can go as remote as somewhere like Corova where houses are only accessable by 4-wheel drive, or somewhere bigger like Nags Head. Though when I saw the thread title, NOLA was the first thing that came to mind.

Chopper Dave
Western NC is pretty awesome. A cabin isn't that expensive, and you can definitely find somewhere in Asheville to find the game.
boofMcboof
My buddy had the 2nd part of his bachelor's party at Big Sur. We rented a RV and traveled up to the campgrounds. Did some hiking and eating. Good times. The restaurant to remember there is Redwood Grill. Amazing BBQ.

Actually, I have a condo in Hollywood and family in Kendall Lakes. Sorry. If you can afford a trip to South Beach it is worth the trip. Sorry if you haven't had the same experience. Stew
Western NC is pretty awesome. A cabin isn't that expensive, and you can definitely find somewhere in Asheville to find the game. I agree with this. Go to Boone. Depending on when you go, there is always great hunting/fishing, and you are at a college town, so lots of bars with great drink specials and beautiful young women running around everywhere. I love going to Boone.

Burgold
I had a blast down at Yosemite. Not too sure about the tv thing though if you want to really rough it.
McD5
I have some great ideas. Here are a few of my recent trips that you might enjoy. 1. Nothing is more manly than going after the famed blue marlin. Cabo, Mexico. If you are interested, I can give you links to the best fish camps in the country. Suprisingly affordable. You will average 1 blue marlin a day. It could be 200 pounds, it could be 400 pounds. You will also catch black marlin, and many sails. The only bad thing? Once you catch a marlin, you will never want to fish in a lake again. And plenty of women all over the place, that want to make sure all the tourists are "comfortable." 2. Skydiving. It screams man trip. You can do this anywhere. I have a few places I can recommend. 3. Negril, Jamaica. Man trip? How about pounding beers at one of the 10 best bars on earth, and then cliff diving in between kamikaze shots? Rick's is the place to go. And plenty of beautiful women all over the place. 4. Rent a cabin in Montana or North Dakota. White Water rafting. I rented a lodge right on the river where they filmed "A River Runs Through It." White water rafting during the day, and fish off your back porch.
Chopper Dave
Actually, I have a condo in Hollywood and family in Kendall Lakes. Sorry. If you can afford a trip to South Beach it is worth the trip. Sorry if you haven't had the same experience. It's great to visit, I guess. I wasn't shooting down your idea necessarily. Like I said, I just think it's funny when I hear someone espouse how great South Florida is. Everyone always talks about the sun and the melting pot of cultures and the bustling nightlife, and when they do, all I can think about is the heat and the rain and the people assuming I speak Spanish and the ****ing horrible traffic and drivers. And the old people. Hollywood isn't bad depending on what part you're in. I dunno how anyone could enjoy spending time in Kendall, though.

The heat doesn't bother me really, I only wear shorts to the beach. The traffic on the other hand...ugh, the old people ugh. My place is not far from the Seminole Casino, off of Stirling. It's quiet and indeed mostly old people around. The nightlife is easy because you go to the beach in the morning and get free passes every night. It's expensive though.
