MKnight82
I know we didn't resign the Red Snapper. I was wondering if any information had come out as to who was going to be longsnapping and if we would be keeping an extra roster spot for a specialist. Will Shannahan consider bringing back Albright?

SkinsTribeVA
We should have kept the Red Snapper until he's in a wheelchair... I wanna see more letters to Madden about his rating!
CM916
If they get around to actually checking the film on Albright I think they would have to sign him. He has 15 years of perfection on his resume and he's awe-inspiring if you've ever seen him up close.
E-Dog Night
The old.... ...and the new: I'm pretty sure that Nick Sundberg is Ethan Albright's illegitimate love child.
Assassin 21
I'm confused as to why they didnt bring back Ethan Albright also... It's not like he did anything wrong last year and age isnt too much of a factor for a LS. Or did they just decide that they didnt want to waste a roster spot on solely a LS? I think they will still assign a roster spot to LS, simply because the position is too important to trust to a player who doesn't specialize in it. One bad snap can cost you a game, or in the Redskins case, a bad snap can be the last play in your season - during a playoff game. I don't know offhand what Albright's contract was, but he was getting more than the vet minimum. I think it was over a million a year. I guess Allen figured he could save some cash by going with a rookie? It does seem like an odd choice in an uncapped year though.

Ryko
Yeah I never got why Albright had such a low madden rating, I NEVER recall him EVER making a snapping mistake. NEVER. maybe im missing one, but i really dont. Is he more expensive than nick sundberg? Because The red-snapper had absolutely perfected the art of long snapping. SoulSkin
I sort of asked this question in a draft day chat on CSN. I'm fairly sure Rich Tandler said he thought Albright had back surgery and might be brought back if he recovers OK. Did he get hurt last year? Mark The Homer
I think Shanny needs to take a close look at the end of the division playoff game at Tampa Bay in Jan 2000. Then he needs to take a close look at Albright's tape. He'll be 40 next year, but so what? He's like a fine red wine. One other free-agent note, veteran long-snapper Ethan Albright who is an unrestricted free-agent who hopes to be back with the Redskins. He has had back surgery that was very similar to what Reed Doughty had, and is feeling much better. Albright should be back to 100 % by late April, and while he has not had any direct negotiations with the Redskins, I was told “If they want him back, he would sign today.” http://1067thefandc.cbslocal.com/2010/03/03/rogers-they-know-they-got-me/

Mark.....I feel like I've just been punched in the gut. That snap is burned into my brain. Bad memories! Hopefully the Red Snapper is feeling better and we bring him back. Hail! It's not like he did anything wrong last year and age isnt too much of a factor for a LS. Or did they just decide that they didnt want to waste a roster spot on solely a LS? I'm not finding any info that would indicate that Sundberg is being considered a back-up OL (or other position). Does that mean he's in DC strictly as a LS? He did have great stats in college (one miss in about 480 snaps over his 4 year career), but I love the Red Snapper. I'd rather see Albright. gholmesbm
It may be more subtle than we think. I havent heard that Albright has signed with anyone else, which may be because of his age, and the fact that people have other priorities right now. This gives us time to assess Sundberg and figure out whether it is time to move on from Albright (he can't go on forever). If Sundberg were out there he would be more likely to be snapped up due to his age and upside. We might be betting that we will be able to get the Red Snapper back if we want him, but we dont want to take up 2 roster spots with LS right now. mojo
If a game was on the line and I could choose between Albright and Jesus to long snap for the game deciding kick. I'm going Red Snapper.
justice98
Albright will be back before the season starts once this Sundberg kid sends a couple sailing in the preseason. They'll always have in their back pocket. Danny Smith has him on speed dial.

I'm fairly sure Rich Tandler said he thought Albright had back surgery and might be brought back if he recovers OK. Did he get hurt last year? Tandler is on the money. The Red Snapper didn't have any missed games or practices last year, but he did have the same procedure in the off-season that Doughty had last off-season. Rumor is that it went well and that he is almost back to full speed.

Skin'Em84
LOL... Ethan Albright the most random fan favorite. Ethan Albright is God in a redskins uniform. Do not say anything that can even be remotely construed as an insult about Ethan Albright. He is all that is man, bear, pig, dog, women, child, and seal. He snapped young Falcon from his balloon into the attic in the garage.
polywog999
Does anyone have an Ethan Albright jersey? Where, oh where can I git one? Edit: No, I'm not gay, I just REALLY like Ethan Albright!
HBnotBlades
Ethan Albright is the only person in the entire Redskins organization that has performed his job flawlessly for nine straight years. He gets respect.
polywog999
Ethan Albright is not playing because he tested positive for a banned substance. He was suspended by the league untill further notice. That aforementioned banned substance was latter determined to be; coolness!
