TheLongshot
I think this idea comes from the front office's now-famous assessment of the roster immediately following the end of the season as reported by JLC. In it, he said that Bugel said something like Rinehart was no where close to being ready to start.I don't know how much stock to put in that because it's by JLC and he's a Debbie Downer and very often a fool. But lacking any other real insight into the situation, we have to take him at his word. Course, it was clarified by Buges that Rinehart had worked with the scout team for most of the season and was starting to come on at the end of last season. I think the statement in JLC's report was accurate in respect to the fact that at that moment they couldn't depend on Rinehart filling a starting role. It doesn't mean he can't eventually fill a starting role, even as soon as this year.
wilco_holland
It is insame, we are talking about a 53 man rooster wenn we have 113 players in a minicamp........this is way to early. But key thing will be the versatilitie that some people bring and there special teams play...so I wouldn't be supriced if people like, Chris Wilson (DE-OLB), Alexander (OL-TE-DT-DE), Williams the center (C-OG), Williams the TE?FB?H-Back?(TE-FB) and a young LB(MLB-SLB-WLB) will get the last rooster spots. I just want to know if Vinny has the balls to cut one of his draft-picks so there is room for a UDFA, because we know he had problems with that in the past. This looks like a lock: QB: Jason Campbell, Todd Collins, Colt Brennan HB: Clinton Portis, Betts FB: ''Big'' Mike Sellers TE: Cooley, Davis WR: Santana, ARE, Thomas, Kelly OC: Rabach OG: Dock, Thomas, Rinehart OT: Heyer, Samuels, Jansen DT: Big Albert, Griffin, Monty, Golston DE: Rak, Carter, Daniels OLB: McIntosh, MLB: London F., Blades CB: Hall, 'Los, Barnes, Smoot FS: Moore, Landry SS: Horton, Doughty 36 players shouldn't be to worried, but there are still 17 spots open. So there is were I think the battles will begine and the versatilitie and special teams play will be a factor. But that what I see as the ''lock-rooster'' is pretty scary, we need to have some (young) o-lineman and LB's to step up this offseason otherwise our depth will suck. mi6
For the most part, I am in agreement with the posted 53 man roster ... However, the Skins need to get younger so I would like them get a little aggressive in getting the talented young guns in ... 1/ Renaldo Wynn ... I would pick Lorenzo Alexander over him. Lorenzo has proven he is a team player, and has done just about everything the Skins have asked of him ... including playing offense. 2/ Chris Wilson, and Rob Jackson (I hope I got the last name right) need to be in the squad. 3/ Antwaan Randle-El, and James Thrash out to be phased out. ARE has done much for us as a #2 WR, and even less as a #1 when Santana was injured. And, as a KR/PR he is aweful. He is on a hefty contract that we can save money on by cutting him. James, is a special teams player, and we have some standouts in the young guns. Didn't we also sign some new guy recently Trent something or the other who is supposed to be a good gunner? NoleSkin21
Didn't we also sign some new guy recently Trent something or the other who is supposed to be a good gunner? Yes, Trent Shelton was signed to take Thrashs spot as a gunner on all kicking units. Let's see if the old man can hold off the challenge though. DiscoBob
The RB situation kind of gets on my nerves. We can never really give a person a chance to develop because we have 2 backup RBs that this team refuses to part with. IMO Rock is expendable. He is a decent KR and good on ST but thats it. He is a locker room leader which is true and people say cutting him will ruin team chemistry. But how is it fair that someone who can perform better then him (Mason) doesn't get a chance to develop with the team? IMO we need to either trade Betts or just let Rock go. Rock never gets to carry the ball. The Steelers come to mind when they use their 3rd and sometimes 4th RB to carry the ball in the game to change things up. We dont. Its either Portis or Betts, thats it. QFT I don't know what the Roster's gonna look like, but I know that I don't want the following players (not because I don't like them, but they have no more upside): Rock (Portis & Betts are wearing down, need a young #3) Thrash (Gotta keep another young WR incase our 2nd round slackers from last year don't pan out) Collins (I'm praying that Colt gets the #2, so we can keep a developmental #3)
sb_xxvi
Random thought (kind of): I hate the nickname Rhino. Where the heck did it start from? Its not like he is blocking like if he were a Rhino. Just because his name is Rinehart? Shouldn't he wait to deserve a nickname? When do we give nicknames to backups!!!???? When Buges gives you a nickname, you take it. We at ES didn't shorten Rhinehart, it was Bugel.

I'd like to keep him as depth, or move him to b-u center, but it probably wont happen. The signing of Dockery spelled the end for Mr. Knees. #66 #66... No way Thrash makes this team. Scratch Thrash. You think Buzbee is going to make it over Wynn? You're REALLY high. Sorry, but also... NO WAY Mason makes it over Dorsey, or Aldridge. Schoolmaster
orakpo is not a linebacker. he is the starting DE. He will not be the starting DE. Daniels will be the starting DE. I agree with everything the originator of the post says about the 53-man.... except Chris Wilson. They will find a spot for him..... maybe they don't keep 4 RBs? But, I think Chris makes the 53-man

Schoolmaster
I agree, if he can't get his weight low enough to play RT, he can still maul as a backup at RG if he has to while he's getting into shape... Agreed. Though I have a hunch this cat is going to beat the odds and come to camp at 375-380 and see significant time in the starting rotation - at Tackle. Silverfox
OK! We have a somewhat stable roster to slide into training camp, can anyone project a 53-man roster to start the season?? Let's make it a little easier and predict 2 versions; a Probable and a Wish (allowing for trades, etc.).
