Going Commando
Well draft season's over, no doubt most of you are heartbroken about that. So now we get to enter a new season of somewhat baseless speculation and prognostication and I'd like to kick it off by asking people to predict what they think the final 53 man roster going into week 1 will be, as well as the starting base formations on offense and defense will be. I'm going to do offense a little more strangely, by mixing a 3 wide single back formation and a traditional I-formation with the fullback (because we know Big Mike isn't going anywhere). This isn't what I think the actual depth chart will look like, since I'm not going to re-list players on it. So starting with the backfield: QB: Jason Campbell, Colt Brennan, Todd Collins HB: Clinton Portis, Ladell Betts, Rock Cartwright, and MARCUS MASON FB: Mike Sellers SE/(X) (haha): Devin Thomas (movin' on up), Marko Mitchell SL/(Y): Antwaan Randle El LT: Chris Samuels, Stephon Heyer LG: Derrick Dockery, Devin Clark C: Casey Rabach , Edwin Williams RG: Randy Thomas, Chad Rinehart RT: Jon Jansen , Fat Mike Williams! TE: Chris Cooley, Fred Davis, Todd Yoder FL/(Z): Santana Moss, Malcolm Kelly Again, without relisting players to account for different packages, for the defense I'll start with the line and go base 4-3: LE: Philip Daniels, Reynaldo Wynn LDT/(3): Cornelius Griffin, Kedric Golston, Lorenzo Alexander RDT/(1): Albert Haynesworth, Anthony Montgomery RE: Andre Carter, Rob Jackson WLB: Rocky McIntosh, Robert Thomas MLB: London Fletcher, H.B. Blades, Robert Henson SLB: Brian Orakpo, Alfred Fincher CB: DeAngelo Hall, Fred Smoot FS: Laron Landry, Kareem Moore SS: Chris Horton, Reed Doughty CB: Carlos Rogers, Kevin Barnes, Justin Tryon K: Shaun Suisham  P: Hunter Smith --------------------------------------------- Well there you have it! The battle for the 53rd spot is going to be hard fought between Chris Wilson, Alex Buzbee, Lorenzo Alexander, Cody Glenn, Robert Henson, Marcus Mason, James Thrash, Robert Thomas, and Eddie Williams. Ultimately, I think we'll do something like keep a 34 year old Reynaldo Wynn in favor of Chris Wilson and Buzbee, keep Lorenzo Alexander around for another year, keep Marko Mitchell over Thrash, decide to go into the year with 4 running backs, drop Eddie Williams once Sellers stops complaining, and stick with an unspectacular Robert Thomas over an unreliable Cody Glenn. :logo:

Farbod21
Why do people insist on thinking Orakpo will play SLB? “We’re going to try to put Rocky at strong-side,” head coach Jim Zorn said after the draft. “You may even see Orakpo at strong-side as well, just early on so we can see whether or not he has the potential to do that. Thats why...

mnb123
I think we only carry 5 LB's on the squad (minus the people who will be DE/LB like Wilson and maybe Orakpo) like last year.

GoSkins0721
Per Charley Casserly on Comcast Sports at 530pm tonight, he said "Orakpo will be the SLB on 1st & 2nd down and RDE on 3rd down." That's based on what people at Redskin park have told him. Which means, AC will be LDE on 3rd down.

Going Commando
Why do people insist on thinking Orakpo will play SLB? In our base 4-3 set, on first down on week 1 next season, I think Orakpo will start at strong side linebacker. He'll get most of his snaps at end, but he'll have to play standing up on running downs, or they'll just sub him out altogether.
Going Commando
WAY too soon. Yeah it's definitely too soon. But we do it for the same reason we make mock drafts in January and February--there isn't much else to talk about.
Going Commando
You forgot about a long snapper. Haha. Very true, let's not forget about them because they are actually kind of important. Let me add LS: Ethan Albright (Is the man pushing 40?) to the list. Go ahead and remove Marcus Mason from my original prediction then (sorry guy). Going Commando
I doubt haynesworth makes the 53 man roster. Hmmm... interesting take. Well it'll be an uphill battle for him that's certain. But I think the coaches will look at him and say "here's a player with a bit of potential. I think he can be a backup special teamer some day. Let's go ahead and pencil him in for our 5th DT spot or backup RT."
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
i think having orakpo at linebacker is a horrible idea. the dude is a rookie and needs to be playing DE. let somebody else play LB, we just drafted two guys, and fincher and blades or even khary campbell are more than decent enough to take that role on. orakpo is a defensive end, not a linebacker cause theres not one on our roster. him lining up there every now and then is fine, but to pencil him in as a LB is stupid. or maybe he is a linebacker, and vinny drafted him as one, which would mean vinny still hasnt taken a defensive end in the draft in now 14 years? lol

(They tried to claim he was a linebacker so they could franchise him for less even though he took more snaps at end). But I feel pretty confident in predicting that Orakpo isn't going to start at end on running downs his rookie year. He'd be too much of a liability. I think they'll work him more slowly into the lineup than we think, but if he were to start right away it'd be on the strong side. We feel more comfortable with Daniels' ability to anchor against the run. My guess is that he will get a large majority of his snaps at end, and if he plays on first down it will be standing up in a blitzing role.
