Rypien1191
Plus some notes on the guy who people think is going to save us at RT, weighing it at 410 pounds. Lol. Great pickup. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/jason-la-canfora/injury-updates-1.html Several players will not be able to take part in the Redskins' three-day minicamp that begins Friday, according to Coach Jim Zorn. Left tackle Chris Samuels is still recovering from triceps surgery but should be ready for June organized team activities, Zorn said. Wide receiver Malcolm Kelly, recovering from another knee surgery, is able to run some but is not slated to be able to take part in football activities. Kelly should be able to take part in June OTAs, however, Zorn said. Guard Randy Thomas (neck surgery) and safety Reed Doughty (back surgery) have been cleared for work but will be limited during minicamp, Zorn said. Zorn also said that tackle Mike Williams, signed Friday, will miss minicamp as he begins trying to shed weight. Williams is at 410 pounds - at one point he reached 450, Zorn said - and the Redskins hope to have him around 370 by training camp. Williams has not played an NFL game since 2005. Zorn said that he expects fullback Mike Sellers, who has been skipping all voluntary workouts and is seeking a new contract according to team and league sources, to be at minicamp. He said Sellers texted him recently to say he is in great shape.

TGI Jef
im cool with Samuels missing the guy has always been a warrior, and skipped a free vacation to Hawaii to have surgery. he will be ready for the season, not to even mention that he probably needs these workouts less than virtually anyone on the team. but kelly. horrifying. the guy seems and sounds incredibly talented. but the problem is that, as much as he can tell JLC and others how ready he will be, has he actaully done anything to SHOW us that he will be ready to ever play another snap in another game ever? scary. da#1skinsfan
Nothing shocking about Kelly, he said hes rehabbing until June then going 100%. Williams at 410lbs...good god...
Mickalino
Williams is defnitely Guard material, and NOT Tackle material, if he even plays, or makes the roster. There's no way, with his fat and his inexperience over the last 5 years, that he's going to keep speed rushers off of Colt Brennan

fnkdctr(007)
They brought in those NBC trainers from biggest loser. They see him as a reciever. I do actually think he'll be in the 350 range give or give 20. This is his final shot. Get er done
bulldog
Mike Williams is the ultimate case of 'taking a flyer' on a player. The chances of Williams coming back to play in the NFL after being out since 2005 given his standard of fitness is probably no greater than 25%. He falls into the same category as Erasmus James last year - a PROJECT. With those kinds of players you may hit the mark ONCE in every 7 or 8 chances you take. Since he was a FA and cost nothing, there's nothing wrong with giving him a chance in training camp given the depth problems the team has up front, but no one should count on him being a factor. jnhay
There's no way he can be expected to play before midseason. Even then, he won't be that strong after losing so much weight.

The more overweight you are the faster you shed it (think percentages). If the guy diets for real (which pro athletes looking to earn millions should do without complaint) he could drop that weight in a month or two max. Fred Jones
Looking at Williams the staff can get a look at his desire. If he has lost weight between now and camp, continued to work out and continued to show a desire to play he will be worth bringing out to training camp. If not, they bring someone else in.
