  2. So boosted after that win. Seeing RVP cry like a little girl made it all that much sweeter. Sturridge might end up with 25+ goals if he carries on. I'm not sure how he'll do with Suarez when he gets back. But that's a good problem to have. So glad were gonna get Sakho and Ilori. Sakho is exactly what this team needed. Skrtel will surely leave in January though. I can't imagine him being 4th choice after all this. But for the first time in a while, I'm very assured about Liverpool's CBs. I like that Moses is a natural winger, but I really wish we could have done better than him. But if he's a makeshift for this season, then maybe we can spend some real money on a winger next year. Or better yet, either Sterling or Ibe really take that role on, as they'll be a year older and wiser.
  3. **** Seattle. Anyways, that was pitiful yesterday. But a win is a win. I'm not feeling so hot for this coming Sunday if Toure is out. But who knows, maybe this brings out the best in Wisdom and he evolves into a dominant CB over the course of the game. Hey, anything can happen. That said, nothing would make me more happy than to beat United at home and start the season off 3-0. But forgetting the fact that they are already a good squad, they'll have the added boost of Rooney seemingly staying loyal, plus Moyes seems determined to win the hearts of Liverpool by showing up in Man U colors, having previously won us over when he flew Everton's flag.
  4. Mignolet and Toure are really looking good. But then, so did Allen in his first few games with us. It's a long season. I wonder how much better Liverpool would be with Suarez. I like Aspas but he completely disappeared the second half. Hopefully we can get another top notch winger. Hopefully someone with a little more decisiveness than Willian, but at least he screwed over Spurs too.
  5. I hope Toure is ready to step up this weekend. Benteke is only getting better, and he terrorized us last season. We struggle with players like him. Disappointed we didn't get Willian. Even more disappointed he went to Tottenham. Bad enough that we lost our 3rd big money buy, but to them makes it worse. At first I thought it was a sign that Bale was gone for sure, but Bale played more centrally last season when he thrived. Still though, I see him going. I haven't heard a Suarez rumor in days, which can only mean that shenanigans will occur. Its inevitable. If he is still here to Sept 2, it'd be like having a new signing almost. One that scored 30+ times for us last season. Supposedly Napoli made an offer of 10mil for Skrtel, but I don't think we'll bite this late. Maybe in June, when we could have focused on using that money towards Papadapolous, but now I think it won't happen. It'd be awesome if we got Lamela. But of course, he's linked with Tottenham.
  6. Hipster Wenger is money. I'm honestly surprised he's going for Suarez. He's already at his peak. I always thought if Wenger was gonna buy, it'd be some 17 year old French midfielder who was going to be the next Xavi/Ronaldo. That way he could develop him properly. I never thought he'd want a developed player. Sturridge looked sharp yesterday. Coutinho wasn't quite himself, and still stood out. I can't see him staying past next season. Teams will be lining up to pay the kinds of fees that make Bale's quoted price look like peanuts. He's money, flashy, classy, young, AND brazilian. Literally every tick mark is checked. Plus it doesn't hurt that he's absolutely adoreable. He looks like everyone's nephew. I would love to get Willian if nothing else just to make a statement. He's a hell of a winger, and with his creativity, Coutinho's ball playing skills, Sturridge's selfishness, and Suarez' bite, we could be something. But we still have to get a CB, especially when Skrtel is gone. Toure looked good yesterday, but we need depth. Coates is wack. Kelly is prone. Wisdom is a baby.
  7. Valencia is Ecuadorian and Figueroa is HonduranColombia have James Rodriguez, Juan Zúñiga, Pablo Armero, Jackson Martinez, Freddy Guarin, Cristián Zapata, Luis Muriel, and Juan Quintero looks like a huge talent. it weakens Arsenal, yet somehow selling Suarez after 2 years seems to strengthen Liverpool according to you? Makes no sense buddy. No wonder they're ranked so high. That is some really good talent, especially attacking. In regards to Arsenal, I think they could do better with 55mil than Suarez. After all that money they poured into attack last year with Podolksi, Cazorla, and Giroud, it seems a shame for them to spend that kind of money to push someone out. But I guess with all the games they'll play in league plus cup, it could only help. Still, I think their bigger need is a dominant CB. They're not too bad back there, but Mertesacker is over rated in my opinion, and some solid talent back there would do them better than suarez, imo. In any event, I don't think it'll ever come to fruition. I think Henry knows that when he sold Torres, he was selling an old commodity for top, top dollar. But with Suarez entering his prime, and it being a World Cup year, he would be more valuable to us than 40mil. I think if he's got to sign one fairly high priced player to prove that though. Micky, then Costa have all passed up on us, for different reasons. I think they have to prove that we're not a selling club by buying someone. I'd prefer Papadapolous but I think Rodgers wants an AM, floating Winger/Striker who can score more goals for us.
  8. they have a really good side outside of Falcao. If everyone stays healthy, they could make a run next year in the World Cup. maybe you should learn what federation Colombia is in and how FIFA calculates these rankings before you use this as a basis to ask if FIFA are high? Ha. Who else do colombia have that's top notch? Serious question. I think Valencia is Colombian, but that's as much as I can list. Maybe Maynor Figueroa? Hah. They could buy Suarez and Rooney, and they'd probably chock into 3rd and lose the Carling Cup final to Yeovil Town or something. Speaking of Rooney, it'll be interesting to see him go to Chelsea, which is looking more and more likely. With Lukaku showing all the progress he made in WBA last season, and only improving, I can see Torres being a bench warmer for a while. Is Schurrle is a strike or an AM? Either way, Torres will probably be as useful for Chelsea off the field as he was on it. Washed up prick. Supposedly, Downing could be on his way to West Ham. There was interest earlier, but he spoke out against it. Its funny, cus a lot of Liverpool fans are clamoring for Suarez to honor his contract and stick to his word, and some of those same fans are demanding that Downing take one for the team and move on. It'll be interesting to see the Suarez situation play out. I know Henry said we won't sell to Farcenal at any cost, but if they came in with 50, 55 mil? Hard to say no to that. Its the kind of cash Rodgers could use to buy players that fit his system well, and it honestly weakens Arsenal, imo. He's an amazing player, but I can see him going to Arsenal, helping them out of the group stages of the CL and score a couple wonder goals in the league, only to demand a move to Madrid in 2015. This isn't like WankU buying RVP. Arsenal need more than just a striker to put the ball back there. So I would love to see them blow an outrageous amount of money on Suarez.
  9. I think Aspas is more like Suarez, in that he's so high energy. Sturridge is a poacher and a shooter, and the onyl one on our squad like that. His game works really well with Coutinho playing him balls and Henderson running into lanes he creates. Borini and Aspas are more reactionary, which is good but we really need someone who is just going to put the ball in the back of the net. I liked the Costa interest. He's a complete nutter, and he only got 10 league goals, but he scored 20 all together last season. I think we're looking to add one more high-level playmaker with the hopes they'll team up with Suarez/Sturridge/Aspas/Coutinho. But should Suarez go we'll need to add a finisher to all of that again. Costa floats around a lot, which is what I think Rodgers really looks for in his attacking players: versatility. You could probably find better talent for 22 mil, but when you finish 7th and have no European games to look forward to, you could do worse than a dynamite entering his prime, having recieved his first call up to a big-time National side recently.
  10. Honestly, I don't care if he goes to Arsenal or any other English club. Just so long as he goes. And quick. 'Go away Luis' indeed. Hail. I don't like the idea of selling to our direct competition. It's too bad City didn't come bidding, cus at least we know where still a bit away from contending with them, and by the time we are, he'll throw a fit there and talk about how Manchester has never liked him or whatever he can cook up. I'd be perfectly fine with him going out, and Costa, Papadapolous, and another striker coming in to replace Suarez. Sturridge is liable to get a knock here and there, and I'm not a big believer in Borini. Not to consistently score for us anyways. Somebody like Yilmaz (sp?) from Galataseray would be ideal.
  11. God I'm getting tired of Suarez. I don't want to sell him to an English rival, but he can go anywhere else honestly, at this point. I just hope FSG invest the entirety of his fee into the team, plus whatever they were gonna spend on Costa/Micky. I'm beginning to believe in the scouting/Rodgers plan. Allen looks solid when he's healthy, Coutinho looks downright amazing, and Sturridge is evolving into everything he was supposed to be at Chelsea and City. It's obviously early, but Aspas looks like he has an eye for goals, and while we haven't seen much of Alberto, I really like his first touch.Plus, Mignolet looks to be an excellent shot stopper, even if he doesn't have Reina's distribution/sweeper skills. All in all, go away Luis.
  12. Haha glad to hear I fit in. I've always loved the club ever since picking "Merseyside Red" in the old PES games and later realizing it was the fabricated LIverpool squad. Ibe looks extremely intriguing. He's 17 but he's built like he's in his mid-20s. I can see him and Sterling holding down the left wing for the forseeable future. Their is some really good young talent coming through the academy. Kelly and Wisdom look solid in the back. And while he's still ways away, I'd like to see McLaughlin develop into something nice. Their is no reason why England's top LB should be wearing any shade of Blue. I'm mixed on Shelvey though. I wish him luck, but he really disappointed while he was here. All the talent in the world, but couldn't seem to bring it together. But if he develops he could be something. Attacking middies who can score are valuable, even if he never put it together while he was here. Swansea could have something if he and Bony end up being as successful as that Spanish striker they signed last season for peanuts. His name escapes me. These last few weeks of the transfer window are going to be quite interesting. Rooney, Fabregas, Bale, and Suarez could all possibly be on the move, and three of them are transferring between competing clubs. Even though Fabregas is on Barca right now, I don't think Gunners will be too pleased with him playing for WankU after whining his way back home. Especially after RVP. Though I'm sure they won't note any hypocrisy if they boo Fabregas while cheering Suarez should he **** of to London. On another note, is Ibra going to stay in Paris? He makes cake, plus they just added Cavani and already have Lavezzi from last season. Pastore too. That kind of depth may work in FIFA, but reality is tad different, I think. College ball IS a big part of the problem. We ask our best players to peak when they are 22 in college. What is the peak years for a professional player 25? 27? Between 16 and 22, European kids are in a year round environment where development is the focus not winning stupid meaningless games. In college, coaches have limited contact with their players to a fraction of the year. Part of that time, if you're an underclassman you're riding the pine instead of playing regularly—so you might not see regular matches for a year or two. The quality of college play has gotten better in the last two years. Colleges like Akron are raising the standard. I think it was the NCAA final 5 years ago between St. Johns and UMD, it was a long-ball fest. Just ugly soccer. As far as Michael Owen, I think the game evolved away from the type of striker he was and the knee injury just did him in. He was a speed player and he lost a step after the injury. Not disagreeing, just thought it was interesting that Rooney has 11 years of Premiere League experience, and he's only 27, whereas players like Dempsey and Donovan really started thriving closer to 30. You definitely have a point with the fact that a lot of prime years are wasted in the system developing, when they could contribute at the top.
  13. LMAO! That is my new favourite quote. On Monday when I'm not working off the cell and have more time I need to incorporate that into my sig.Brilliant ha ha. Hail. It's only an apt description. Merseysides b squad should be pleased jus tto be acknowledged, honestly. What about Michael Bradley? Landon Donovan? Clint Dempsey? What about the others who went to European clubs as kids and didnt make it in MLS? (there are a lot) I agree its good to see, but I feel the odds are these wont end up as professionals. The real value may be in what they learn and potentially become coaches in the future, but I feel you should slow down on just bashing the USA coaching system like the country has produced nothing. I think its noteworthy the differences in between American talent development, versus international. Over here, we dont really start getting into representation and accolades until adolescence at the earliest, but even then talent really begins to gain hype closer to 18. And even then, you usually have to play some college ball for any of the major sports, and go pro in your early twenties on average. Then you develop some more until youre a vet. Dempsey, Donovan, Bradley, and others before them that have succeeded else where (Reyna, McBride, Keller) were all significantly older than their European teammates when making their debuts. I think this allows playesr to really develop later in their career. Conversely, look at the English model. Michael Owen was used up before he even turned 25. Wayne Rooney was ending historical runs with his right foot at 16 years old. Over here, nobody really acknowledges you as the next big thing until youre either players big time college ball or going pro. Over there, every club wants to sign the newest darling starlet. Liverpool caught a lot of flack last season for overplaying their "next big thing" in Raheem Sterling. He was 17 at the time. I dunno, just an observation.
  14. I assume you mean Diego Costa. Not sure how I feel about it honestly. From all accounts, he's a downright ****. Worse than Suarez from some of the accounts. But he's (fairly) young, got called up earlier this year to his national team, and actually scored 20 times last year, but 12 of them came in the domestic cup and Europe. Supposedly there was some interest in Osvaldo as well, who is kind of a hot head himself. Maybe Rodgers is trying to build an attack of assholes. Aspad, Suarez, and whoever they add sure would spice things up agains the Mancs and those Blue fairies from over yonder. Regardless, I think that price is wayyyy to high. Micky would have been worth the dough, but I think its a huge indicator of where the club is right now. They probably could get someone better or younger for that much cash, but when you have no European games on your schedule, you're just not the hottest commodity out there. i firmly believe Mkhitaryan would be ours if we had cracked the Top 4 last year.
  15. YES. Soldado offically a Spur. Could be their missing link. I wonder what they'd use that money towards if they do cash in on Bale. That's a lot of dough.
  16. Sike, for the record, that gold London Fletcher photo is an old shop. I'm pretty sure one of our own guys here did it, just cus somebody asked him to. Hell, it might even be in this thread.
  17. It's sad, but for those of us in our early 20s and younger, we literally have nothing else to cling to. I mean, really, everything of relevance this past decade that wasn't embarassing, comes entirely from 2005, and a little from 2007.
  18. Beating ManU was great and all, but our strikers need to put more shots into the back of the net. Good goal by Kuyt to win it, but Carrol needs to start coming through. Still, Suarez is set to come back soon enough (just in time to go up against the Wancs, no less) and Bellamy has been in good form, so we'll see. YNWA.
  19. I wish they would replace the white jersey with the 75th anni jersey. Best jersey we've had in a while. Mix that with Gold pants or Burgandy pants and you're set.
  20. **** ManU. Shame Rooney scored, otherwise the game would have been perfect. The only reason I'm happy Barca won was because it came at the She Devils' expense. Otherwise, I'd have an extremely hard time rooting for a team that has some of the worst divers in the game. Didn't see too much of that today though, just beautiful football.
