SkinsMaster88
Yeah, my thanks as well. It's easier to get the breakdown from the final 53 than the 22 cuts.
MWCREDSKINS
I would've kept Mason over Justin Hamilton but I think special teams had a lot to do with that

brianforster
something smells funny with only keeping 5 wide receivers.. two being rookies who have yet to do much of anything other than collect a paycheck and run a few drills.
Burgundy Burner
The team has said that it wanted to have six receivers. Will they get a vet - and who would it be?
bobzmuda
Justin Tryon is much better than many of you give credit for. He's not ready to start, but decent corners in this league are hard to find. Everyone says he's lost, but he was always with his man, which is great for a 4th round rookie. When Holt or Westbrook got beat, they were often 2 steps or so away from the receiver. Supply/Demand also is what forced Mason and McMullen to be cut. You can pick up a quality RB on the cheap quite easily (Rudi Johnson, Shawn Alexander, etc.), WRs also, but to a lesser extent. jivelikenice
I would've kept Mason over Justin Hamilton but I think special teams had a lot to do with that I'm a big Mason fan, but teams can't afford the luxury of a 4 tailbacks with a 53 man roster. Also, while Mason is a good runner he didn't show enough on teams or in blitz pickup. One more year on the practice squad and he can take Rock's position IMO. Tryon's mistakes were either he didn't know how to fight for the ball against taller corners, or his technique was off. I never saw him completely beat on a play. I think that shorter corners need more time to develop (i.e Pacman) and it would have been a mistake to give up on him unless there was someone else waiting who was better. After seeing Richardson get beaten badly on the go route v. Jacksonville I just didn't see him as a real upgradte to Tryon. In reality the 5th corner will not be active since Carlos has come back sooner than anticipated so this is a question of who I'd rather have inactive every week. IMO, I'd rather have Tryon there as he has more upside.

Holt and Westbrook were no better, but they didn't deserve to be within light years of the 53 man roster. We're going to have to draft another CB next year if we don't address the position in free agency (Springs isn't getting any younger).
bobzmuda
You'll probably get bombed for your comments on Tryon. But I personally, couldn't agree more. We'll just form our own "Tryon is better than you think" club. Also, I'm pleased they didn't cut Jackson. He showed too much promise and would have been snapped up. I am eagerly awaiting the 3 DE/1 DT or 4 DE pass rush that Blache will unveil during the opener. There's certainly enough qualified bodies for it now. Tryon did get better as the preseason went on, while he got beat a lot in the Jax game, he at least knew what his assignments were, unlike early on when he was looking pretty lost out there. Personally, I didn't think it was enough to keep him, but maybe they feel that they can stash Richardson on the PS easier than Tryon. bulldog
what this tells me is that the team has some younger player on the DL that Blache and Zorn believe are worth keeping and developing (Jackson, Wilson, James etc.) at the cost of players at more plentiful positions (Mason, McMullen, Mix, etc.). Metalhead
Hmm, so this is an official list, or you have a good source? I'll take your word for it, since we're only an hour away. It's good to see Brooks make it over Frost. If stats are a wash between two players, ALWAYS go with the younger guy. Edit* - nm, just saw the press release. Thanks for making up the current roster.
