chomerics
http://www.divinecaroline.com/article/22297/49153-colossal-castle-humble-home--price Here is the first one. . . South Africa v. San Francisco – $500,000 In South Africa, for half a million dollars, you can purchase a genuine castle complete with armor, high security, and a golf course. Stradford Castle, nestled in South Africa’s most gorgeous lake, is engraved with words of wisdom from ancient dukes and holds precious hand-crafted stained glass. In San Francisco, for 500K you’ll afford a junior one bedroom with a spacious sleeping alcove. If you crane your neck out the bathroom window, you may even get a “peek-a-boo view” of the Bay Bridge. PleaseBlitz
South Africa or San Francisco? How about neither.

Predicto
I'll take San Francisco. You can get a complete house for that price, by the way. It'll be really small and on the foggy side of the City, but it's a house.
herrmag
I always wondered what it would be like to live in an old castle. I imagine that stone walls and floors don't exactly convey a home-like feel.
Predicto
Two hotbeds for AIDS? I'll pass. Maybe if you didn't roam the gay bathhouses and stuff you wouldn't have to worry so much.
Mass_SkinsFan
Neither. Normally I'd say the castle, but it appears to have been stripped of most of it's truly defensible positions and is in a rather indefensible location.
EersSkins05
I can't even begin to imagine what the upkeep would be on the golf course.
Corcaigh
a genuine castle  In South Africa.:laugh: with a golf course :laugh::laugh: I doubt if it's 10 years old. Genuine.
kuraitengai
yeah...in south africa, where you get robbed every night...
Predicto
I just recognized that picture. The reason that little SF place is so expensive is because it is right across the street from the Ballpark.
NavyDave
And I thought the Condos near the Verizon Center in Chinatown were a ripoff.
Zen-like Todd
That wouldn't even get you a decent studio apartment in Manhattan.
Zguy28
I'd take a shack on a rock over a castle in the sand...
WVUforREDSKINS
I'd take the castle for sure! South Africa is amazing from what I hear. I've always wanted to go to Cape Town and watch the jumping Great Whites. So what if I get a little AIDS. At least i'll be HIV positve I made a better choice than some crappy apt. zoony
I'd take the castle. I've always wanted to say "excuse me please, I'm going to walk the parapet" Besides, I'd bet there's some nice largemouth in that lake
jbooma
I see Chom has never been to South Africa Personally I would take San Fran since I like to go out at night and not worry about being attacked all the time. Imagine the power bill for the castle, that might = the mortgage of the place in San Fran
laurent
Given comparable salaries I'd probably choose to live in SA. The country is just amazing and giving up a bit of security for more liberty isn't that big of a tradeof.

Thats the first thing I thought...thats not a castle, it's a castle style house. I'm not quite as worried whether or not it is in a defensible location however
